Hisashi Ouchi was kept alive by his family not the doctors. Interviews with the nurses and the head doctor showed they knew he was going to die and recommended the family to accept his fate and end his suffering but the family wanted absolutely everything to be done to keep him alive. Also he wasn’t the guy pouring the liquid he was holding the container that the reaction occurred in, meaning his body was pressed against the container which would give him a much higher dose of radiation than the person pouring.

Worth mentioning that the part about the Doctors deciding to keep Ouchi alive isn't true - rather, they had no choice. Japan has very strict consent laws when it comes to medicine, and as Ouchi's family insisted the doctors do everything to save him, including resuscitating him if his heart stopped, they had to keep administering treatment right up to the very end.

The Hishasi Ouchi story is inaccurate. In Japan it is (or was) illegal for doctors to sign a ‘do not resuscitate’ order without the permission of family members. Doctors regularly told the family of Ouchi that he had no chance of survival due to his body’s complete inability to produce new cells due to destruction of his chromosomes. Despite this, his family had faith that he would get better, which was impossible.
He was not kept alive at the will of the doctors for research purposes, but I suppose that makes a more dramatic storyline.

Also bears don’t usually go for the jugular. At least when it comes to humans. Black bears sometimes. But brown bears will usually go for your face. As that’s how they “disarm” their opponent. If it’s a 1 out of a million predatory brown bear. Then usually they eat you while you’re still alive. Being dead before consumption is just an accident.

There is no painless way to die. When you choose to end your life, you leave behind a sea of grief for the ones who love you and care about you. Yes, life isn't always easy and may seem unfair at times. But there is a better way to deal with this pain than to end your life. Open up, talk to your close ones.
If that's not possible, seek professional help. There are many skilled professionals out there who can help you get a control over your emotions and your life. Choose yourself, choose life!I can't answer for that person. Unfortunately its a thought thats been crossing my mind more and more recently. Personally for me, I just feel like I'm losing the energy to keep up the fight. I've been emotionally hurting for over a decade and this last year the amount of things that have gone against me has left me feeling so beaten. I truly just don't have it in me most days anymore. As ridiculous as it sounds, I'm just tired.

Not trying to cause drama but there’s some serious misinformation about ouchis case. First of all no doctors actually kept him alive against his will, it was all under the consent of ouchis family to do everything they could to save his life. Secondly, none of ouchis flesh or limbs ever fell off, there are autopsy photos of him that show he had all of his limbs intact. Thirdly his condition was much worse than described in the video here, in his final days, ouchi was losing so much body fluids, nothing stuck to him; even the gauze; ouchi was breathing through the use of a mechanical respirator. Although his muscle tissue and most organs were intact, He had no skin as it had rotten away. His eyes also could no longer close because his eyelids rot away from being unable to make skin cells. His bone marrow was also so damaged from radiation a healthy stem cells transplant would be completely useless as the damaged cells cause mutations over time. Finally, once the doctors realized that his musics membranes in his intestines have died from mutation complications they realized he was beyond saving but his family was in denial about his condition. Before accusations can be made. Proper reasarch needs to be done to understand the mistakes we make.

They tried cutting edge and top of the line technology (of the time) to try save him, when they reached around day 80-82, they officially said he couldn't be saved and told his family to sign a do not resuscitate order. He later died in his sleep after his heart stopped on Night 83.
