  • A huge shout out to my buddy Brian Snyder. So what I'm doing is I'm converting my coleman gokart to electric for extra speed, learning, and it will be quieter and be a back up power source living off grid.

@hack-lab this is EXACTLY what I'm attempting to do now. Swap the 196cc gasser for a 48v BLDC. Is that a normal Brushless Motor or does it have gear reduction? How is your gear ratio? I was thinking of using the jack shaft to keep the gearing taller for any inclines. Sub'd and following this build. Thanks!

That's a brushed motor. That's why it can run directly from the batteries with no controller.

Did you end up doing a conversion? I’m working on one and struggling to get it going

I ended up doing the conversion, but I ended up selling my house. I kept everything but I did buy a controller and everything work perfectly. I’ll make a video with the video I have but I’m gonna buy the same exact gold card. I just couldn’t take it because of the move I will end up doing this again in the fall with the same electrical hardware. All I sold was the frame I loved it it went around 35 to 40 miles an hour.

The car was extremely fast. I use the jack shaft and I used a golf cart speed controller. Everything is so expensive it you gotta get what you get and don’t pitch a fit.
