What I loved soooo deeply about the movie was that it gave grace to Barbie. Let's be honest here. The movie is at best a one time watch. The saving grace is the performances, with the jokes being a hit and a miss. The set design, costumes, music is really good. However, the messaging to me came out a little too preachy. The initial writing in the first half was subtle and made you think. One of my favourite dialogues was about men being able to hide patriarchy better these days. This is nowhere near the cinematic experience that Nolan would provide you. And there is a decent amount of adult humour here as well. overall a 7/10 movie. I think people are overhyping it.

Watched it today, honestly the plot is not that great. Its a visual spectacle with great performances, but it could never find the right balance what it was trying to say. It would be super silly n suddenly super deep in the next scene. Something felt missing throughout.
For what it's worth, I absolutely love watching your reviews and the way you present them! So, I'm glad that you keep at it despite the anxiety that some nasty, immature comments cause!
Damn right, Barbie hit home. Greta Gerwig is absolutely brilliant and hell yeah I would like weird Barbie as my best friend. Women telling women’s stories in all pink is exactly the way it should be.

My small town theatre was jam packed for both barbie and Oppenheimer! Audience clapped at the end of Oppenheimer and america Ferrera's monologue on women in barbie❤️🩷 BARBIEHEIMER weekend was great
It was such a refreshing movie. It was another feeling to see whatever I feel and think as a woman being expressed and shown in the movie and that too so well. Wish they made more movies like this.
Enjoyed this review tremendously ❤ Fyi: You do make the internet a better place. Been watching your reviews from FC "Not A Movie Review" days, and not just as a stranger on the internet but just you being the way you are, has always been inspiring to me. I have long been coasting along the internet being a 30 yr old urban educated female with the usual privileges, and i have not come across someone who brings the things you do. Keep being YOU. Just keep BEING. It has been a joy watching your work... and the evolution you've had. Sorry if this makes you uncomfortable because I'm a stranger but I mean every word. Just like one grows to adore the work of some artists much more than others, the same happens with the present age of the RUclips and 'content' as well.
I watched Barbie last night, and here to understand it more. I didn’t enjoy it too much, but I see why people liked it though. Love your saree Sucharita!
Amazing, amazing review.. so heartfelt! I have always loved your work & the effort that you put in. Have been a follower since 2018 and everytime I watch something I try to find out if you've said something about it! Even if our thoughts don't perfectly align everytime, I appreciate your point of view just because you present everything with logic. I understand your words regarding anxiety very well. Guess it's always difficult for people who try to voice against the predefined notions. Stay this amazing Sucharita, love ❤️🙃
The movie was a joyride! Right messaging, amazing dialogues and such endearing performances 😍😍😍 Ryan Gosling was such a secure actor in this one! Loved him! And everything else about the movie ❤️
I'm Sucharita's newest subscriber! And I have a lot to say, so here goes. First of all, I've already watched the first-day-first-shows for both Mission Impossible and Oppenheimer. I wasn't going to bother with Barbie because I made the mistake of assuming it would be some silly chick flick for teenage girls. That was until I read what the story was really about. And now, after watching this video review, I'm absolutely dying to watch it! I had no idea it was a movie with such depth! However, after hearing what Sucharita has said, I realise that I really should have known better to begin with. After all, we all know that Margot Robbie's movies can always be a hit or a miss, despite her tremendous talent, but Greta Gerwig would never disappoint, and neither would Ryan Gosling! And also, I applaud Sucharita for recognising the situation created by the fact that a relatively young and inexperienced director is being put on the same level as Christopher Nolan. Don't get me wrong. I love Greta Gerwig, and I've been an admirer of hers for a long time. But I do feel it's a little unfair of the media to put such a young director, male or female, on par with one of the legends of modern times - Christopher Nolan. Still, though, I suppose that's just how the world is. The old sometimes have to make way for the young. And that's good in its own way too, otherwise, young talent would never have a chance to shine! Anyway, that's all I have to say. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and book tickets for Barbie! I spoke to my mom about it, and I've convinced her to come and watch it with me.
Wish you didn't reveal the entire plot, which was awesomely kept under wraps by the makers till the very end (irrespective of the aggressive marketing). This absolutely heartfelt and on point video would have served better if a spoiler/discussion with details tag was mentioned somewhere in the title and before hidden story came out.
I truly agreee with what you said, and I also realised that this is the first review channel (actually more than that) that I did visit, for the Barbie review. Most of the channels that I see are male dominated, which is not wrong. And I totally understand when she said, I wanna live a day without being nervous about anything, just being me. ❤ Great work Sucharita.❤❤❤
I saw Oppenheimer alone on Friday. Now planning to watch 💖 Barbie 💖 this weekend with my pre-teen nieces. Not only have I learnt important life lessons from Oppenheimer, thanks to your review, I plan to be the cool aunt now which is an equally important job for me 😊
Watching men create and abuse weapons of mass destruction for a war, just to assert world dominance in Oppenheimer, and then watching the Barbie movie where men still default to war to assert their dominance was definitely surreal...
Just take Israel and Palestine conflict for example, Is it just to assert dominance ? Or take Oppenheimer for example : Know Hitler ? Can you imagine what it would've been if he had an atomic bomb ? Just to assert dominance huh. History and Politics is way too complex than simply asserting dominance but who cares, right ? Men create and abuse weapons of mass destruction for a war. Whatever. Keep living in your bubble and keep on hating kid.
This was an amazing movie. Did not expect it be so accurate, hard hitting and yet hilarious. A lot of pink and one for us ladies. Totally agree with you that every woman/girl/female must watch it and relate to it 😊
You are just so on point and so exceptionally wonderful in keeping me and obviously everyone engaged with your narration ❤..you are just soooo cute mam
Seeing you simping on Greta Gerwing & her work like us is so cute haha 😂 i appreciate you Suchi, don't let the unkind ppl get in your head. I always look forward to YOUR review and tell everyone, the only thing matters is what sucharita says 😅. Lots of love ❤
I thought it was brilliant and yes some of the zany stuff was a bit too on the nose and slightly broke the movie's pace but overall it was very well done. Ryan Gosling getting to exercise his comedic chops was an added bonus. It was nice to see America Ferrera after so long and I do wish her character was given a bit more to work with. Might watch it again.
Mazaa aa gaya, was waiting for your review since morning, baaki dilli mein tickets jab itni sasti ho jaengi ki jaydaad nahi bechni padegi, tab 100% jaaunga movie dekhne
I’m Going tomorrow my city open bookings for both Oppenheimer and barbie late , I even give up the hope that they’re gonna be in theatres here but they’re 😭
I cant believe their are still pissy men in the comments calling the film bad like i get it its your personal choice not to watch it but seriously not every movie in the world is made to please men alone!!!! Ffs i hate this trend of automatically deeming every female oriented film bad and unwatchable even if you dont personally enjoy it you can atleast appreciate the efforts made in such a direction. We need more empowering movies period.
I am a woman n yet didn't like the movie.. neither did my other female frnds...the thought n intention is nice..so are the sets and the performances..but the movie as a whole is a mess.
@gkour126 And?? That's your opinion. Like I said, it's fine if you don't personally like it. All I am saying is that we need to support movies like these. I see way too many Oppenheimer fans trashing this movie for no reason, especially men. That's all
@@averma2334female oriented movies does not mean bash men. Men oriented movies which bash women are heavily criticized by women and men alike. We are returning the favour. This is a b*tch movie with shit story, shit direction, shit message.
Honestly, was so done with two apparently humongous films, with polar opposite directions and obviously fierce marketing that I totally went off whatever this barbiehimer was going on. I’m queer, I’m a part of the target audience this movie is made for and yet it felt so out of touch. However, I’m now kinda maybe convinced to give this a shot!
This is such a lovely review and hit on so many points that I appreciated! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Have had and heard so many great conversations about this film's themes, and what it can mean to so many in the audience, which is absolutely wild given that it could have just been a flippant toy commercial. It's much more, and very clear to me that we should never, ever doubt Greta or Margot
Hi Sucharitha ❤ keep it going. Love ur reviews since film companion days. Always packs a punch 👍🏻 as a woman viewer , makes it more easy to choose the movies I can watch by listening to ur reviews. I hope with all the positive comments out here u ll feel better. Ur audience love u. Keep it going 👍🏻👍🏻🙌🏻
I have to say, I really love your work and the fact that you are trying to bring a change in your own way, which is not an easy thing to do at all. I really love how you keep your opinions true to who you are and I am sorry if you had to deal with anxiety due to hurtful comments. Keep up the work! ❤
I dont Su4ita, i would listen to your reviews even on deathbed. You are an inspiration and a force to reckon with. Simply love you girl! Sending consensual hugs to go through that stupid comment that may give you anxiety. Also, fuck every bastard who gives you anxiety. Hugs 🫂
People literally called margot robbie mid for making a feminist film so yea in the movie it makes sense for her to doubt her looks as barbie halfway through the film
I went to Barbie because I wanted to give it a try, and I promised myself I would never again enter a feminist film again. The individual, not the gender, will be held accountable when a woman makes a mistake. But when a man makes a mistake, blame all men, criticise them, preach about patriarchy, and make men feel bad that they even exist. Feminism did made sense initially but now it's just pure toxicity. What opportunities are you folks crying about, exactly? Women are more likely to be hired for jobs based on diversity than men, who must demonstrate their abilities and talents. Even when I enjoyed a scene, I could always sense that the movie was anti-family, anti-men, and anti-motherhood. Expecting a feminist to make a movie on true equality is, in my opinion, just a pipe dream. I honestly think...."This film was made to sow discord between genders and incite women to be against men".
As I just realized that you DO read comments, here I go; You're awesome, I like your way of reviewing movies and finally #NotAllMenAreSame Just kidding, you're awesome ❤️
Hey Sucharita, random brown male from your audience, who really wishes that all the men understand the perspectives of women and not just blindly attack them, and you in the comments section. I love watching your reviews and about this particular one, it just didn't seem like you were talking about the Barbie movie, it felt like you are talking about your own life struggles, and the women in my family, in my neighbourhood, and all the women watching this review and not watching this review. Wasn't sure about watching the movie but you've made a compelling case. Looking forward to your next review! (Can you make it on Kalki?)
If only changed could occur in 48 hours in real word just like barbie land. Why is it difficult for ken(s) of the real world to accept the fact that every other ken is equally important , beautiful etc. I hope to reach that state of enlightenment and call my self *KENOUGH*
Hmm it seemed really peak white feminism in all the promos, trying to sell us barbieland as feminist utopia even though all the barbies have actually always been mainstreamishly american attractive pyts selling makeup, matching clothes bags shoes, that edges out diverse ideas of beauty and aesthetic. I’m struggling to buy this as more than superficial in its feminism but if you’re on board then i guess i gotta give it a chance
Has always been a fan of your style of reviewing a movie since film companion days.. many critics talk about the technical aspect of a movie but your strength of understanding the psyche of the character and the director's vision and presenting to your viewers is unparalleled... Thank you for that and if you don't mind one crtitc I have about your reviews at times I feel you a give out a Lil bit too much about the movie for example in this review the part of Ryan Gosling taking over barbieland could have been avoided.. Anyways tc and trust me you are one of the best critics on the internet in today's time..
Thank you for this amazing review Sucharita! I saw this movie opening night! I laughed, I cried, I had a full complete existential and cathartic journey! You summed it up beautifully 💖⭐️💜⭐️💖
Hey Sucharita...I visit your page for the reviews...I mean I am ok not watching some of the movies. I definitely do catch up on your reviews though. However, this one felt like too many words being somehow stitched together in an attempt to make a coherent statement (not all of it lands!). So, my advice (its free and I am a viewer....hence 'ENTITLEMENT') - KISS (Keep It Simple Silly). PS: I am a fairly well read person and on most occasions, can make sense of words and thoughts...
it seems like Sucharita is trying too hard to sound like a distant cousin of Shashi Tharoor with her fancy English, and it's hard to really pay attention to the actual review...as one has to switch between dictionary and review.
I hope this comment doesn't give you any anxiety. 1) Goddd dayumm you look hot in that saree 2) This is the most sensible and relevant "review" of a movie I have ever seen.
Charu, take a breath babe! Those long sentences he he...I forget to breathe with them. Sending you lots of love so you don't happen upon a negative comment.
Genuinely saddened by what you shared 6mins into the review 😔 So sorry that the whole joy of putting out a video can be destroyed by certain individuals who purely exist to tear another person down. Disagreements or opposing views, I understand (my own growth has happened because of them) but to target someone is unacceptable. If anyone who behaves that way is reading this: STOP. What do you truly get from attacking someone? Is that the best use of ur time, ur growth as a person? I have had MANY clashes online myself, and after a point I realised that unknowingly, I also contributed towards making more angst, so going forth, I try to keep that in mind, as I also feel we need a kinder way of interacting with each other online. We can't change people, who have no inclination towards doing better, BUT, if we plant enough seeds, in time we'll see some growth 🙏🏽 Sorry that you experience these feelings after each video goes up, Sucharita. Big love ❤ And Happy belated birthday 🙌🏼
@hsd287 Sucharita knows the consequences?? Sorry, what does THAT mean? And you've come to HER channel, so I'd assume you WANT TO hear what she has to say??? Also, she has explained many times the death threats she receives from men, and I don't know about yourself, but to face THAT LEVEL of hatred is NOT what she, or any if us should have to encounter for expressing our opinions. C'mon, man!
@hsd287 You do have the option to not listen to her if you don't like her work. Where's the issue with that? Just don't spend ur valuable time in listening to people you have problems with. Really simple.
Wa watched the movie yesterday. Superb concept, loved how the difference between how men think and women think how men don't think practically tho do they think they are the best. Brought back sweet memories of buying Barbie dolls for my children whicch after playing were kept carefully back in the box. On the way back rehashed the film and then saw your review, Amaze as to how much our thoughts match. A big fan. ,

Theirs no competition between OPPENHEIMER and Barbie Easy to understand if not for Nolan No one would have cared about doll movie They knowing try to pitch this as a compatiter but who are you kidding It's not
Both are intelligent films, but when for audience, a film using a commodity in a toxic hyperconsumerist market as a vehicle to say its ideas is far easier to recognise and understand than a film that uses one of the most prominent leaps in technology by weaponising the culmination of the understanding of nuclear physics, name dropping some of the most important minds of modern history and an incident that changed the poltics of the world, to say the important things both films want to say, then there is really something wrong with our what we consider important things to learn in life.
Ok this movie can really be deceiving and disappointing, if you don't have a mature approach. Even though the plot is purely fictional, it manages to depict symbolic events that happen in the real world. ( In fact the opposite happens - with men wanting freedom power etc in comparison to women in the real world but honestly this entire patriarchy and matriarchy stuff, none of it actually works out at the end) Tbh this movie is great, hilarious and relevant in its true sense whilst enmeshing concepts of patriarchy, feminism, consumerism, humanity, existence and its meaning and even perfectionism. Who'd have thought a movie on little girls' fantasy doll could stirr such complex debatable themes, and the best part is the movie doesn't itself seriously. So all the Gigi Chad men out there fussing over this, sush your pus.
Both Barbie and Oppenheimer are great movies and both of them are great directors. And both can co exist at the same time as each caters to a different audience. You are one of the most rational critics out there. But why so bitter about Nolan and Oppenheimer?
I can understand your anxiety, people on internet can be too harsh and unfiltered for no reason. But don't mind them, most of your viewers love you and will always cheer for you❤

A perfect review for a SUPER FUN movie! Absolutely loved Barbie, probably because I went without much expectations 😄🤩🤩 Lots of love to you Sucharita!
Huff they do make movies like this but they r made badly
Enjoyed this review tremendously ❤
Fyi: You do make the internet a better place.
I started bawling during America's monologue, and I just kept crying through the end
One of the only movie/ tv show reviews I trust and look forward to !!! Just amazing review.
Notification pops and I am here. Been waiting for this review since morning.
Great work Sucharita.❤❤❤
I saw Oppenheimer alone on Friday. Now planning to watch 💖 Barbie 💖 this weekend with my pre-teen nieces. Not only have I learnt important life lessons from Oppenheimer, thanks to your review, I plan to be the cool aunt now which is an equally important job for me 😊
The one review I was waiting for. Thank you 💗
Barbie is a very relevant movie of our times, especially the horrible things that are happening.
Watching men create and abuse weapons of mass destruction for a war, just to assert world dominance in Oppenheimer, and then watching the Barbie movie where men still default to war to assert their dominance was definitely surreal...
LOL are you serious?😂
Lol😂😂
Lol 😂
Just take Israel and Palestine conflict for example, Is it just to assert dominance ? Or take Oppenheimer for example : Know Hitler ? Can you imagine what it would've been if he had an atomic bomb ? Just to assert dominance huh. History and Politics is way too complex than simply asserting dominance but who cares, right ? Men create and abuse weapons of mass destruction for a war. Whatever. Keep living in your bubble and keep on hating kid.
Hi Sucharita! PLEASE keep doing what you do because you do it so well!!
Agree with everything youve said! Great review as usual❤
The wait is finally over! Had been waiting for your review since morning. Amazing review in a gorgeous saree 🎉
This was an amazing movie. Did not expect it be so accurate, hard hitting and yet hilarious. A lot of pink and one for us ladies. Totally agree with you that every woman/girl/female must watch it and relate to it 😊
Why you want ticket and visa for America so that you can be a citizen of usa and training to be Americans faminist
@@hopegaming5710 Why Don't you go to south korea
If the said woman has the same mindset as the enforcers of the patriarchy then yes she would relate. Can't say the same about all women.
You are just so on point and so exceptionally wonderful in keeping me and obviously everyone engaged with your narration ❤..you are just soooo cute mam
Never imagined a film review could make me cry. Thank you for everything you do, Sucharita. More power to you. ❤
@user-ih5vf4xg4h and i think you can't read nor write. I literally said unkind ppl not 'opinion' and it's not your it's you're. Hope it helps.
You're doing great Sucharita! Love the work you do and I am so happy your channel is growing! 💗💗💗
I’m going to watch it this weekend - thanks to your review. ❤❤
@sucharita, Was waiting for this review since the Oppenheimer review released! 😅
Good job Sucharita, your review convinced me that I have to watch this movie and bring my daughter along too 😊
Mazaa aa gaya, was waiting for your review since morning, baaki dilli mein tickets jab itni sasti ho jaengi ki jaydaad nahi bechni padegi, tab 100% jaaunga movie dekhne
That's all
I am not gonna appreciate a Cheesy Chick Flick made for brainless chicks.
@@averma2334female oriented movies does not mean bash men. Men oriented movies which bash women are heavily criticized by women and men alike. We are returning the favour. This is a b*tch movie with shit story, shit direction, shit message.
Why every female oriented movie includes bashing men feminism and all of that woke garbage think about that!
Going tomorrow! Very much excited! Thank God u gav it a good review! My expectations hav skyrocketed!!
Phenomenal review. Was eagerly waiting for this. Thank you ❤
I went to Barbie because I wanted to give it a try, and I promised myself I would never again enter a feminist film again.
As I just realized that you DO read comments, here I go; You're awesome, I like your way of reviewing movies and finally #NotAllMenAreSame
Just kidding, you're awesome ❤️
Anyways tc and trust me you are one of the best critics on the internet in today's time..
favourtie reviewer of all time, FAVOURITE
Sucharita Girl you are OP. You are a gem of a person and provide an analytical deep dive into the psychic of the storytelling genre called cinema.
Sucharita! I love you girl! You’re everything we need! Definitely going to watch this
Girl, you have to be protected at all costs. I kinda felt bad that you feel so pressurised by online hate. It really is vicious.
Thank you for this amazing review Sucharita! I saw this movie opening night! I laughed, I cried, I had a full complete existential and cathartic journey! You summed it up beautifully 💖⭐️💜⭐️💖
Here after Animal review 😂😂😂😂😂
Absolutely stellar review! ❤
Thanks so much!
Genuinely saddened by what you shared 6mins into the review 😔
So sorry that the whole joy of putting out a video can be destroyed by certain individuals who purely exist to tear another person down.
We can't change people, who have no inclination towards doing better, BUT, if we plant enough seeds, in time we'll see some growth 🙏🏽
Sorry that you experience these feelings after each video goes up, Sucharita.
Big love ❤
And Happy belated birthday 🙌🏼
@hsd287
Sucharita knows the consequences??
Sorry, what does THAT mean?
And you've come to HER channel, so I'd assume you WANT TO hear what she has to say???
Also, she has explained many times the death threats she receives from men, and I don't know about yourself, but to face THAT LEVEL of hatred is NOT what she, or any if us should have to encounter for expressing our opinions.
C'mon, man!
@hsd287
You do have the option to not listen to her if you don't like her work.
A big fan.
,
Welcome to Americans ways faminist and to say good bye to Indian values.
@@hopegaming5710feminism: equal rights for men/women and equal opportunities for them to be who they want to be.

This is an incredible and well thought out review of this movie. I appreciate you.
Thank you!
Wow Sucharita, loved this saree, and ur intro twirling was fun AF.
My favourite part was Depression Barbie. I clapped because it was real.
Theirs no competition between OPPENHEIMER and Barbie
Easy to understand if not for Nolan
No one would have cared about doll movie
They knowing try to pitch this as a compatiter but who are you kidding
It's not
Sucharita is one of the sharpest reviewers i know, and nowadays she looks very happy too!
Here's the thing , it's your channel. You are the boss . I respect your efforts. Chill scene 🎉
The second I saw sucharita in a pink Sari I knew “women telling women stories” dance was next. Funnnn, can’t wait to watch
love and only love to you, Sucharita! ❤
I think you’ve missed the point of the movie. It’s sooo much more than
“feminism”.
I felt all the emotions you’ve put into words. ❤
Ok this movie can really be deceiving and disappointing, if you don't have a mature approach.
Even though the plot is purely fictional, it manages to depict symbolic events that happen in the real world.
( In fact the opposite happens - with men wanting freedom power etc in comparison to women in the real world but honestly this entire patriarchy and matriarchy stuff, none of it actually works out at the end)
Tbh this movie is great, hilarious and relevant in its true sense whilst enmeshing concepts of patriarchy, feminism, consumerism, humanity, existence and its meaning and even perfectionism.
Who'd have thought a movie on little girls' fantasy doll could stirr such complex debatable themes, and the best part is the movie doesn't itself seriously. So all the Gigi Chad men out there fussing over this, sush your pus.
was so waiting for your review, You look so amazing in the pink saree
Both Barbie and Oppenheimer are great movies and both of them are great directors. And both can co exist at the same time as each caters to a different audience. You are one of the most rational critics out there. But why so bitter about Nolan and Oppenheimer?
@@Elninojuniorwhy so bitter.... Getting his interview was an achievement itself
When was she bitter?
When was she bitter?
The only movie review I look forward to!!!!
Sucharita, you make the internet a nicer & kinder place
So much want to see you interviewing Greta Gerwig, someday
I can understand your anxiety, people on internet can be too harsh and unfiltered for no reason. But don't mind them, most of your viewers love you and will always cheer for you❤
