Rhett, Some people just LOVE to fight, One just could not find a worse reason to tear the country apart than the civil war. My grandfather was a black man, his family was in Africa during that time. For an underequipped, and under provisioned group the CSA fought like hornets. Great episode, Keep''em coming!
Each side believed they were doing the right thing. It really came down to where you were born for many. War is a terrible tbing especially among your own. Thank you for watching.
The oilfield shut down and I got laid off 2 times in 6 months. I’m now driving cross country again hauling hazardous materials for a private fleet. Excellent pay and benefits. Being a bachelor has it’s benefits Lol. Your videos make me feel like I’m at home while I’m away even though I get home every weekend.
I bought property in Granbury about twenty years ago and the title company that's located on the square was a saloon in the 1880s and the beautiful limestone walls have a few bullet holes. Must have been a very interesting time. The cemetery is much more scenic than what is shown in the video. There are some very hilly paths through the cemetery and the seasonal bluebonnets were beyond description.
You're right about the bluebonnet being there. It really is a fascinating and beautiful cemetery to visit. I used to have family in the area and there is a ton of history there. Thank you for watching!
I love Granbury. Looked at housing there but it was 102 degrees on March 2. Decided that was too hot but we did go to the Cemetary to visit the memorial of Davy Crocketts wife. Thanks!
It is a nice little city that has been growing fast the last couple decades. Mary's grave is really close. It's just east of Granbury in Acton. Thank you so much for watching!
In the spring, the cemetery has beautiful bluebonnets blooming. I believe there is a veteran of the War of 1812 buried near where Gen. Granbury is buried. Granbury’s original grave marker is in the Hood County Museum near the courthouse. David Crockett’s widow is buried in Acton Cemetery which is near Granbury.
I have seen the bluebonnets there and it is beautiful! I did not know about the veteran of 1812. I have done a video on Mary. That's another fascinating cemetery to visit. Thank you for watching.
First city I lived in when I first moved to Texas in 1982. Seems like a lifetime ago. Ty for highlighting this important piece of history. Great as usual. 🙌🏻❤️
It could be possible. I know they have spent recent decades trying. With the digital age they really tried and they have scoured the county records. They also tried when they moved the General in the 1890'sasthey wanted her there's well. If there are records it's sitting in someone's attic or someone's hand drawn records of the cemetery long ago. Would be nice if something like that turned up.
whether youre from the North or South my heart goes out to soldiers and families of of these soldiers I am a resident of Wisconsin but feel that the Conferate monuments and ///flag should be respected because its a part of their history
I agree. They were men who might have just been involved with it based on where they lived or were born. In all both sides helped shape things and made this country what it is today. Thank you for watching!
Thank God he changed his name to Granbury because I can't stand the taste of Cranburys my mom always insists on having every Thanksgiving. Interesting cemetery thank you for the video.
RUclips is awesome! There is always something for someone to watch no matter what your interest are. I would love to visit Waylon. I've always loved him.
I have a lot of family members from Granbury my Grandpa Meyer's side of his family grew up there and in Acton he had brothers that were peanut and cattle farmers there for many years till they passed...
Thank you for documenting this I'm angered that the Tarrant County Commissioners Court voted to remove a monument of a Civil War, Spanish American War, World War 1 and 2 recently.
Lovely sounds like the kind of place i would like to visit. Very interesting cemetery, imagine all that Crockett family there too . Good video thank's.
I'm from st Joseph mo. You've done a couple videos here. Jesse James home, psychiatric museum, mount mora cemetery. I came from Iowa. If u want something interesting Clarinda. About 15 miles north is villisca Iowa. The ax murder house. A whole family got murdered one night. They're buried in the villisca cemetery. The case never got solved. I've been watching u for the last few weeks. Very interesting
I think I saw something on that once. Is that the one where you can tour the house where they were killed? Thank you for watching and sharing that one with me.
Rhett, you are so good at this. The places. The people. The cemeteries are just amazing. I'd like to see those who are trying to take Confederate monuments down, try to take this one down. 🤠🤠🤠🤠
I don't think that will happen here. They would have to remove everything in the cemeteries plus the town name. This has really grown from a smaller town to a good sized city but the people still remain super friendly to everyone here. Thank you for watching!
I was thinking that town was just another subburb of Dallas, but it's got it's own little location on the Texas map, there in north central Tx. Never been in that neck of the woods.
Yes it's a little west southwest of Ft. Worth. Really outside of the DFW area although some people do live there and commute in. Most by car but some by plane. Thank you for watching.
Not too far away they sure do. Fossil Rim and Dinosaur Park has footprints in and around the water there. That is a fascinating place. Thank you for watching.
Love our history and how we have grown as a nation . Until NOW hope none of these young Socialists don't get the Idea to pull General Granbury's statue down.
RhettyforFun Yeah, I made a cemetery walking tour brochure for the Granbury Visitor Center a few years ago. Not sure if they’re open right now, though. Lotsa great history around here!
That's awesome that you did that! I used to have family in Granbury so they took me around to many of these things years ago. So much of it has changed but the cemetery has stayed the same.
Wow, A Very Historical Cemetery, Wonder Why General Granbury's Grave Site, Isnt shaped Like A Cannon Barrel, like Most Are? Hope someday you go to the Towns Square, sounds so Quaint..
I love the town square in Granbury. I used to have relatives that lived in Granbury. There is a lot of history there. Thank you for watching and I am sorry for the late response. Somehow youtube never gave me the notification of your comment.
You should come to Fort Wayne, Indiana. There is a very tiny cemetery on North Coldwater Rd. Just across I 69. It's been a long time since I've visited it. I don't know if anyone is very important there but if you blink you pass it.
I hope to as well. I'm not sure if it will be this year or not now. It's been awhile since I have been up there and I love the state. I've never made any videos there.
Very well done, sir.Have you ever considered writing a book with all of the information you have put together for theses videos? I would believe that it would be a good seller regionally. By the way, do you intend to do one on, "Jelly" Brice who was a top policeman in OKC? He did a lot for law enforcement and some who knew him are still alive today.
I have not planned on writing a book but that may be a possibility some day. Might be interesting once everything is compiled together. I do plane on doing a video on Jelly. He was quite the policeman and has an interesting story. Thank you for watching!
When you do, look up December 31, 1933 when he cornered and captured Wilbur Underhill in Shawnee at 606 West Dewey Street. The house still stands today and looks much like it did back then. The bullet holes are not easily seen and it is now a rental property. I don't know if the tennants know about the history of the place, but this Undrerhill guy was really bad news. Will send you more info if you are interested, sir!

Great video, as always, Rhetty! Sad, though, about Granbury's wife, Fannie, how her original grave has been lost through time. It's a real shame she can't lay at rest alongside her husband. At least she's got the Memorial though. That's cool! Take care, Val.
They were definitely hoping to make that happen but sadly it could not. You're right, at least they have her memorial. Thank you so much for watching Val!
This cemetery I really wanted to visit since you posted of Davie Crockets wife burried there in the other video. With it being a small cemetery in a small country town, how many Confederate civil war vets do you think are burried there?
Mary's grave isn't too far away. It's just east of Granbury in a town called Acton. These two cemeteries have a lot of Confederates in them. Most of them probably would have been under Grandbury himself. I'm not sure how many there are. There could be some accounted for and possibly even in little pocket cemeteries. Lol you’re in my town!!! How cool! I love your channel. My dad is a stone mason and built the sign welcoming you into Granbury.
How cool is that! I'll keep an eye out for that welcome sign next time I visit Granbury! :)
Oh that's awesome! I love that sign! I used to have family that lived there so Granbury has a special place in my heart. Thank you for watching!

Same here. We all could walk past someone while in a cemetery who did something incredible. Thank you for watching.
Nice vlog for the Memorial Day weekend. The Crockett connection was neat, too. And that town really looks like a nice place to visit!

Yeah the oilfield has been hit hard. I'm glad you were able to find more work though! Not an easy time to do that.
Granbury square is a nice place. They decorate it very nicely during the holidays.
Yes they do! I love Granbury. Thank you for watching!
