Iga's a great player but it's clear she's not at the level of being a dominant #1 that just bulldozes the field for an entire season or two. She has a big forehand, covers the court really well, is generally a smart player and resilient but she doesn't have enough weapons to beat everyone easily. Ostapenko is the kind of player who can beat anyone on any day. She can also lose to anyone on any day. But she has big weapons and against Iga, she was 3-0 and now 4-0 so that clearly helped Osta and it was equally clear Iga broke down mentally as the match went on.
@TheSuperjunebugshe dominated because Barty retired. The rest of the field has now caught up to her on every surface except for clay where she is still queen
Iga is still solid off both wings from the baseline. Not only the FH but the BH. Solid compact strokes. I reckon an upgraded, less vulnerable serve would already be enough to counter a big hitter like Ostapenko. That'd be my #1 priority if I'd be her coach. You shouldn't be on the back foot behind your serve. Mentality is fine.
Głowa do góry i do walki. Powodzenia !!! :)
Kacyk, she's not "świetna ". She was just lucky for the last year and half. Every time she plays hard hiding players she is losing. I have been watching 90% of her matches and many times she's at the border of losing even with weak players . I'm rooting for her, but I'm getting tired of her inconsistency. Last night she looked like she forgot how to play . She should be ashamed of her performance. And on the side note; her " FOR SURE" during the interviews in almost every sentence is very annoying.
@@sof942you watched 90% of IGA's matches. WOW. That says that she is really interesting. I agree I really like to watch and listen to IGA. This video was already watched by 100k people. IGA - I wishing You all the best.
I don’t like Ostapenko all that much but she deserved the win and Iga didn’t once give her credit in that press conference. The kind of thing that makes me not warm to her that much…
That was unfortunate because Ostapenko acknowledged Iga as a great player several times in her presser. Iga didn’t like the sound of Ostapenko’s 😢 squeaky shoes when she was serving. It seemed like some psywar tactic that worked.
@@ciarypowykonie3096Lol, stop acting like Iga has done better Jelena in other handshakes, go watch her awful handshakes to Sabalenka and Sakkari(at FO 21) Ostapenko atleast doesn't pretend
She probably did but sounds like she had a rough year in general despite being number 1 in the year still. Not at her best right now - needs a reset like she said.
Iga's only 22, it's not like she's some washed up has been like Sakkari who always chokes when it matters most. Iga will continue to get better and add to her 15 Titles & 4 Slams, get back to me when she's 30, and we will see where those 15 & 4 numbers are then. Let's talk about Ostapenko, she has way too much talent to only have 6 career wins, with her game, she should win at least 3 times every season. When Iga does put it all together, the learning experiences from matches like this one will be key in that journey, but I will be supporting her along the way regardless. Since beginning of 2022 Iga is 123-19 with 12 titles, 3 Slams, 4 1000's, and has served 42 bagels (22 in 2022 and 20 so far in 2023) becoming first player since Steffi Graf to serve 20 or more bagels in consecutive seasons, and once she learns how to overcome this, then she will take things to another level and win a lot more Slams
A great season so far Iga, you should be very pleased. I'm sure after a needed break, and time with your family and cat, you will find again your level and many victories. Congratulations sweetie.
But, ashleigh barty was more consistent cuz she had been spending her world no. 1 consecutively for over 2 years before she announced earlier retirement last year

C’mon Iga . You are still the best. 56 wins, 85% winning percentage, 1 French open, 4 titles in 2023. It’s always hit or miss against hard hitting players. Try to improve your serve speed. You will overcome these challenges against hard hitting players. Hope you will be back to number 1 soon. ❤❤

Mam podobne wrażenie. Ale to nie tylko Iga. Przecież to też my i cały świat od niej wymaga. Przecież wystarczy rzucić okiem na kibiców. She never give credit to the player that beat her. She always find excuses that she lost. She should go and see Wonz press, how she gave credit to Coco for the win.
Iga puts all emphasis on winning (all champions do), but she needs to stop putting blam3 on herself and consider that her opponent beat her. It's never just about "not playing well". Sometimes an opponent is just better. She needs to accept this or she is going to make herself miserable.

I don't like this speech at all. I get that the sport is incredibly demanding, but it's demanding for everyone on tour. Iga needs to shift her mindset and other patterns, because other players know how to beat her now. If she needs more breaks, then take them (Now that she's won Warsaw, it's time to abandon that 250 event, for example). Maybe re-evaluate your mental game (and your sports psychologist) and really own it instead of talking about how tough the tour is - that is, if you want to be #1 again. We all know how tough it is and love the champions because they overcome it.
Still IGA won 4 GS at the age of 22. She hold the No. 1 position for 75 weeks. Which other active player achieved that ???? You do not. @@MHK-yu2tf She’s been with her coach for less than 2 years, which isn’t long. She just won Roland Garros less than 3 months ago. Because she couldn’t defend her US Open title, she needs to fire them? Many players go longer without winning/depending and don’t fire coaches. If she wins 0 next year, ok, fire them. Also, a lot of players have improved, and Iga is never going to repeat 2022 ever again. 2023 is how it’s going to be. She’ll win some and others will win as well.
Now she can learn from her friend Ons Jabeur to get up stronger. Ons got so many lessons on court, and she make a history, evenif she hasn't won slam yet.

Iga could really take her game to another level if she breaks down this match in the off season. What to do the next time a player takes the "go for broke hack and slash I got nothing to lose" approach?
Thoughtful Iga. Love her. She's now 0 and 4 against Jelena and hasn't found a winning formula. I guess Iga just doesn't like her pace. She doesn't give her opponents any control and when she plays an opponent like Jelena, Elena, Aryna and Jessica who hit freely and so many winners on both ends she gets flustered because she can't control the ball. It's more mindset than poor play because she actually played well but her opponent blows winners past her and when she's not clicking on their returns it becomes frustrating for her. Iga you've had an amazing year. Improved a lot on many tournaments so just keep it up. Aryna has been playing well so she deserves the no.1 but she's got to win the tournament to have any chances of staying no.1.
Her coach should have watched more video of Jelena's defeats for a strong tactical plan. Maybe hit more angled shots and drop shots. I recall Iga has a great drop shot but rarely uses it anymore.
Her opponents never just beat her, huh? Jelena’s record against her isn’t a fluke! She struggles a bit more with the power players! Iga is a great champion, but she will be even better when she learns to give her opponents more credit sometimes. You can’t win them all. Everyone has played the same grueling season. Congrats to Jelena! She played lights out tennis. Iga will be fine.
All the pressure was on Iga ! Not on Jelena..easier to play that way. She was making mistakes because of the pressure. Like Nole said - very hard to win the US Open back to back - only few ever accomplished that. She has the physicality and the footwork- to come back even stronger - beat players like Jelena. Tonight she was outplayed.
@@akb9297, Iga was making mistakes because she was rushed. She isn’t the only player to ever have pressure. I’m not discrediting her, but I feel like she should give opponents a little more credit and less excuses. It’s not the end of the world to lose.

But she has big weapons and against Iga, she was 3-0 and now 4-0 so that clearly helped Osta and it was equally clear Iga broke down mentally as the match went on.
Osta is the only player unbeaten by Iga over numerous matches. That definitely is playing on Iga's mind
She needs to improve her Serve to dominate tennis.
@TheSuperjunebugshe dominated because Barty retired. The rest of the field has now caught up to her on every surface except for clay where she is still queen
@TheSuperjunebug spot on
Iga is still solid off both wings from the baseline.
Iga Ure special, it’s okay to take time and reset… come back stronger 💪🏽
We all have bad days Iga. Shake it off, and can't wait to see you in the next tournament 🦾
Wow such a humble and honest person!!!! ❤
I wish all the best. Stay strong 1ga ❤
I tak jesteś wspaniała !!! Gratuluje tego , jak daleko zaszłaś . Nikt nie jest maszyną ! Jestem z Ciebie dumny !
Szok .
Such mature as she is, will keep her on the top for many years to come, now time to relax and reset a bit🤞
@@sof942she is the most consistent player in WTA in a few last years.

@@drpersuasionIga had no issues doing jumping jacks to disrupt the opponent in the past
These questions were not about Ostapenko. This wasn’t the entire press conference. She says many times that Ostapenko is a great player.
And she won't. She's so passively arrogant. She's too emotionally intense and will eventually burn herself out.
I watched the whole match from the beginning. You are such a great player Iga. Come back strong. We love you and we're super proud of you.
Iga’s handshake today speaks volumes about her true character
Absolutely Ivan. Ostapenko is such a likeable individual, you want only to hug her.
@@ciarypowykonie3096Lol, stop acting like Iga has done better Jelena in other handshakes, go watch her awful handshakes to Sabalenka and Sakkari(at FO 21) Ostapenko atleast doesn't pretend
Ego Swiatek should give some credit to Ostapenko and recognize she was the better player.
You make those errors because Jelena FORCED YOU to make these errors. It wasn’t unforced,it was forced! Tell it like it is.
Jelena got in her head. Psychologically destroyed. 😮
Like Rybakina
She probably did but sounds like she had a rough year in general despite being number 1 in the year still. Not at her best right now - needs a reset like she said.
No that’s not it she beat her down bottom line
@@God1stForevershe’s in her prime right now she’s not going to be getting better as she gets older. Women in tennis peak early to mid twenties.

A great season so far Iga, you should be very pleased. I'm sure after a needed break, and time with your family and cat, you will find again your level and many victories. Congratulations sweetie.

That's the think that made me to hate her. She Wonz said to Coco in the press. Iga should go there and learn how to give credit to other players.
Yeah, she always rant when she loses. Same thing happened in the controversial Spain tournament and no credits to winner
Don't be petty
Agree absolutely
Iga keep your head up! You did great this season, but I think that when you have all the pressure on top of you, you don't play as you normally play.
You will be #1 AGAIN and you'll be better, the serve has improve, bur you need to come up with strategies to overcome big hitters. Always 1GA❤
Iga those were FORCED ERRORS in that third set! Give my girl Penko her credit she came at your neck!

C’mon Iga . You are still the best. 56 wins, 85% winning percentage, 1 French open, 4 titles in 2023. It’s always hit or miss against hard hitting players. Try to improve your serve speed. You will overcome these challenges against hard hitting players. Hope you will be back to number 1 soon. ❤❤

Even a great champion has a bad day. She is a through champion. She has four grand slams. The rest should go and win.
Iga jesteśmy z ciebie dumni pamietaj o tym
It was not because she started playing bad but she just simply got overpowered by Ostapenko. She wins only when she can hit their monotonous angle shots but she can hardly hit back against powerful and or unexpected shots from her opponent..
🎯
She should go on steroids like Ostapenko.
She never credits her opponents but thing is, she is always at hard hitter mercy who plays fast and quick like Ostapenko
IGA is IGA

Perfect.
Iga, losing is part of life and you are still a champion and have been consistent in winnings...prize money of $20k for 2023. 2024 is a new season!

Mam podobne wrażenie. Ale to nie tylko Iga. Przecież to też my i cały świat od niej wymaga. Koniec Igi. VO pgrzegrała po wyrównanej walce WTA1000. Kreczuje w Rzymie i ,według naprawdę wielu, WYSTRASZYŁA SIĘ RYBAKINY. Gra w FO i....oczywiście musi wygrać. Straszna presja. Niech weźmie 3 kroki wstecz...niech się rozbiegnie. Wróci dużo silniejsza.

She never give credit to the player that beat her. She always find excuses that she lost. She should go and see Wonz press, how she gave credit to Coco for the win.
Got overwhelmed by the ferocity of Jelena.
Iga puts all emphasis on winning (all champions do), but she needs to stop putting blam3 on herself and consider that her opponent beat her. It's never just about "not playing well". Sometimes an opponent is just better. She needs to accept this or she is going to make herself miserable.
Yes, she needs to. Maybe it will help her head when she will open her eyes.
Egocentric as no credits to her opponent when losing match..

You do not. @@trax4wax Where's her shaman's mental strength? How long she's been with her coach?
@@MHK-yu2tf She’s been with her coach for less than 2 years, which isn’t long. She just won Roland Garros less than 3 months ago.
Love Iga regarless of her ranking.
