    I really love that you’re not wasteful. Some RUclipsrs drop so much money on stupid things such as fast fashion or the latest and greatest tech, makeup, whatever. You are smart with your money and what you spend and on what. Thanks for setting a great example for those watching.

    I have the three bank accounts too. Bills in one, savings in another and expendable income in another. Its helped me so much. No worries about over spending and not being able to pay your bills.

    I'm so happy for you and your new place! I LOVE and appreciate how you showed your cramped small room with all your shoes and everything while living at your parents' house. It's admirable how you made do and saved money. It also shows other people it's okay to be realistic and that not everything is picture perfect and ideal all the time. You're so lucky you have parents that let you live with them. Gratitude and working towards goals!

    I recently moved out on my own too - had lived out of the house in college and stuff like you, but never truly been on my own - and the best advice I can give is always be prepared for it to cost more than you anticipate... There are so many extra costs here and there that really add up! For instance, I thought I had everything I needed, but then I spent like $100 extra at target for random stuff like a welcome mat, utensil drawer, organizing bins, lol. And not to mention, restocking your fridge and pantry from scratch (since I lived with my parents before) is sooo much money up front.

    Ahhhh! I’ve been so excited waiting for this video. Thank you for answering my questions and being so transparent about finances. My boyfriend and I broke up 2 days ago (and we live together) and your moving out vlog a few videos ago luckily inspired me to start the search for my own.. so I went apartment touring this morning!! It was so exciting and I got pictures. And I do want to buy everything when I move out all at once as well so I’m going to take your advice and I’ll move back home for a few months and then I’ll have some cushion. Thanks for the video Sam 💕 Can’t wait to see the full finished apartment!

    I have 5 accounts😂 1 for big expenses (ex. Rent, utilities, etc), 1 for small expenses (Ex. food, eating out), 1 for big savings (60% of my savings goes here and it’s untouchable), 1 for free expenditure (20% of my savings) and 1 for small savings (like travelling, also 20% of my savings)👌🏼

    I also live in an apartment with no washer/dryer hookups - but I have a tip! We ordered a portable washer (weighs about 40-50 lbs and it has wheels) that can be connected to most kitchen or bathroom sinks with an adapter. Such a lifesaver! It’s not the biggest and you wouldn’t be able to wash a comforter or anything big like that, but it works for my hubby and I especially in between larger loads :) I totally recommend it and there is also a portable dryer too!

    • @styledbysamvay
      @styledbysamvay  4 года назад +1

      I did consider that! But I really only do my laundry once a week or every other week. Plus my parents live so close and I don't know if I'll still need it after I move out of here, so it doesn't feel worth it. I may change my mind in the future though!

    The tips about your banks account is super helpful! Definitely gonna give that a go and try to get better about saving money! I have a 13 yr old daughter and anytime I have extra money its gone that same day because I just want her to have all the things I didnt growing up but I want to be less paycheck to paycheck and I COULD be that way if I would just start paying more attention to my finances and so im going to try this. Thanks for sharing. A lot of people are kinda hush hush about their finances but your tips are so relatable and helpful!

    My fiancé and I are currently living with my parents and let me tell you it is the best thing especially helping us save money!! We are getting married next July and so far we've saved up a decent amount! After our wedding we are going to stay another year and save up for a house. My parents are gems, don't want anything from us, they just want us to be ready when it's time. We live in Sacramento California btw so the cost of living here is very expensive. You need to be making over $20 + an hour to be financially stable if I'm being honest. My fiancé is a plumber and makes good money but I'll be finishing up school next semester that is also another reason why we're staying with my parents.. So my parents letting us stay with open arms definitely means a lot! I'm so happy for you Sam!! 💝 Your apartment is very cute!

    Having a great apartment and cheap rent is jackpot , Me and my husband are currently paying 740$ CAD for a 4 1/2 ( 2 rooms, living room kitchen and bathroom ). We moved here in 2018 and the landlord hasn’t raised the rent, so my rent will be 740$ until 2021. It took me about a year to fully furnish and decorate the place,I’m happy we waited a few months to decorate since we had time to figure out our style.

    The way I do Netflix is I go and buy a $200.00 gift card put it on the account then it, is paid for I think it’s 18months. Something to think about if you want to drop that auto pay it’s an easy thing to do. (You also don’t have to do $200.00 that’s just the max that you can put on the gift card)

    Some of the questions asked are obviously asked by younger people living at home with their parents.
    Here is my advice as an older adult - when you first move out ring relatives and family friends and ask if they have any homewares they want to get rid of or sell to you (couches, sets of draws, etc). Usually they will have some nice stuff. Also thrift stores and yard sales are helpful. Check Facebook marketplace in your area.
    Don’t move out thinking u need things to be brand new. You can buy some really nice second hand items. It will cost you a hell of a lot less than $5000 to furnish a whole house!

    • @styledbysamvay
      @styledbysamvay  4 года назад +1

      J Du absolutely! But that’s not always an option for everyone. I don’t have any family that lives in my state, and because of quarantine, thrift shopping wasn’t an option either. I did take some of the extra pots and pans that my parents didn’t mind parting with, but everything else I had no choice but to buy brand new for myself.

      Yup! It's so crazy. It's overwhelming, but if you make them a priority and make bigger payments at a time, you'll start to knock them down and it won't feel so scary after a while. Trust me, I used to just make minimum payments and avoided checking my balance because it stressed me out too much, and that just made things worse.

    There's no laundromats? Why would you take your clothes to your parents to do laundry? You're an adult now.

      She probably has very nice parents that don’t mind her doing that when she visits :) also, being an adult doesn’t mean your parents disown you and aren’t willing to help you. You can ask for help as an adult you know?

      Why pay to do laundry when you can do it at your parents place? Saves so much money lmao

      Lol exactly what everyone else said. It's free... it's an opportunity to visit with them every so often... and I don't have to worry about sitting around waiting for my stuff to wash or anything getting messed up/ stolen/ etc. It's just more convenient. No need to get rude or judgmental about it.
