Always loved Heartbeat and still watch the re-runs every week! Wish there was a show like it again!

@@bcactus3510 yes buy the dvds and put them on plex or wait until the new itv hub is released which will likely include the whole back catalogue.
I would love to see some new heartbeat, it was very much education through a drama on what life was like then from racisim, womens rights dealing with the great cattle plague.
The show started in the 60s and gave us some great tunes and stories, perhaps a shift into policing in the 70s will help give it a fresh look with new actors. although we have lost most of the classic actors of the show now.

@@bcactus3510 the way greengrass left the show was sad. Due to Ill health he was written out never to be seen again. Would have liked the occasional cameo in later seasons.

Loved that show, never missed an episode.Was gutted when it finished with Blaketon fighting for his life.Also Peak Practice was another great show. I gave watched Heartbeat on repeats but have never seen Peak Practice on repeat. Now it's all that so called reality bilge or poxy game shows, time fir some gripping series and dramas.The Bill was another family favourite.

I always watch the series every Friday night at 9:00 on TV over here in Toronto it's been on now for about a year so it's up to above the year 2009 and probably will go till about a few months and I don't know what's going to be in its place

I think that photo of an older Nick Berry is about 10 years old not from last year. He looked like that when he appeared on Loose Women about 12 years ago, since then I believe he put on some weight and grew a beard. Heartbeat was best when Nick and Greengrass were still in the show, after that the storylines and believability took a nose dive and it became often too silly with Vernon and David providing all the comedy which went too OTT IMO, the later series characters and PCs and sgts that took over after Nick and Blaketon (though Mike Bradley was OK) were nothing special . Even before Nick left in series 7 the storylines were quite boring, probably because by that point they were making 24 episodes a series instead of 15, and I always believe that to keep it interesting less is better than more. One thing I wish they had done with the series is bring back some of the guest characters and have them reappear, like Greengrasses nephew played by Mark Addy, Gina's brother Barry and other characters that could've provided us with some interesting storylines, but it's a pity that never happened.

Its only the first series many of the big name characters came into the series later. Perhaps one day I will do a video for the whole series.
