Hey man! I get it that the X100VI is not really your thing. But for having a small camera for daily use it's great. You get a tony 2 in al super small lens. And it even has nd-filters in it. And you can screw on adapters to make it wider or more telly. It's not my thing as the lens is not wide enough for me, but I get it that people love it.
I agree on the new kitlens: I think it's a shame that they made it slower. Making it wider is cool, but f4.8 means you can't really use it indoors anymore. Then f4 was pushing it, but still usable because of the stabe. At the same time. Other companies also "upgraded" from 5.6 to 6.3. But that does not make it less sad. About the sigma's: They once made the best aps-c lens ever: the 18-35 f1.8.....how cool would it be if they made a 16-33 f1.8 version of that for mirrorless....I would preorder that in a heartbeat!

I'm always looking to lighten my full frame kit. If Panasonic released a high-res lightweight body, to go with the 28-200mm and the 14-28mm, I'd switch over to Panasonic. I just wish the 28-200mm started at 24mm. I was on vacation recently with the Tamron 28-200mm and it was shocking the number of times 28mm was just not quite wide enough.
And for the 24-50mm I agree; I can't figure out who that's for or who was asking for it. Replaces 24/35/50mm primes I guess.

28-200 looks incredible for me (it's more compact and lightweight than fuji 18-135 and at the same time it faster in equal f number), if only pany could make high-res and compact body - I might switch to pany camp just for this single lens: it could be lightweight casual travel setup. It even could replace m43 14-140, because with high-res FF sensor there would be option to shoot 300mm in crop mode and still stay relatively compact and lightweight. Just add compact high res body pany

The 500 is great telephoto length for birds and so forth and can take a teleconverter. The Nikon 500 PF was and is pretty popular because the size is small for 500mm. Though I decided to forgo the pf personally because I wanted an f4 500 which can take a teleconverter to be a 700 5.6 for birds. Nikon fyi. The sony 24-50 or whatever it is is such a bizarre choice. The only lens I was slightly interested in was Sigma telephoto, just because my Sony 200-600 is too heavy for everyday use and I need a second lens for more comfort.
I have Sony 70-350 and Sigma 100-400, they are fine and compact, but don't have enough reach either.
But too many compromises: no teleconverter, photos per second limit for premium bodies, bad tripod foot design, not enough reach - for too much money turns me off also.
Still waiting for Sony analog of Canon 800 f11 too.

    • @adamadamis
      @adamadamis 5 месяцев назад

The Sony 70-350 is effectively 525mm at the long end, so more than the 500mm Sigma? Unless you want to use the Sigma on an APS-C body.

    • @kuros85

@@adamadamis any of the E-mount lenses can also be used on APS-C bodies, yes. So Sony 200-600 with 1.4 TC on APS-C becomes 1260 mm. But also becomes very dark.
It's just - the sensor of the APS-C is not that good, especially when there is a lack of light, which is always the case when you are shooting wildlife with shutter speed of 1/2000 or 1/1250. And any reach is not enough when you are shooting birds you can't get close to without scaring them

I am a bit confused why so many people were "who asked for the 24-50" ok maybe nobody asked for it but it makes total sense. They have the large gm series of lenses but they are not really designed for the a7c line which they are currently pushing as hard as possible. Also they have the g line for smaller and more effortable glas for years now like the compact primes. For a small standard zoom I much rather had a 2.8 than more reach. Especially if its more for a "Everyday" photography setup like thw a7c line is aimed at.

You have your own mind and you know what camera you want, but there are plenty of people who just waiting for others to tell them whats best for them. That is exactly what TikTok did with that Fuji. Especially annoying to me as the X100V was specifically brilliant for what I shoot, being documentary and wedding photography. Its low profile and silent shutter and consistent look is exactly what I needed, and the flash is great for that 1980s hip-hop fashion look. Got one in the end but my heart sank as soon as TikTok started on it and it began to be viewed as a fashion accessory. Been running with the X100 line since the beginning and I'll be suprised if I ever get the opportunity in the next couple of years to pick up the latest version, as I can see social media going hard on it again.

I bought the x100v right as it was released simply for the fact it was weather sealed. My previous camera I kept the same lens on it- but living in Wyoming- barely shot with it. It was wild checking on the reviews of the x100v, 3 years later, to find it was so sought after. It’s a good camera for sure but you’d never see me paying anywhere close to retail if I had to buy it again. I’d pay $900 for it 🤷🏽‍♂️.

@@-grey For real. I was serious about switching to Foodge after a decade of dealing with Sony APSC bricks, even bought X-S10 with 16-80, but after diving deeper into that blind sect of Fuji fanboys (mostly Karens that shoot only JPEGs with fancy filters suited for Insta and TT) Im really done. And... yeah.. autofocus...ekhem...
Shame that great company with decades-long heritage became camera enthusiast meme and a definition of camera for noobs.

      I disagree.
We have so many people who were waiting two years for a 100V and now are just happy when we change their order to a 100VI.
And many who just want a compact camera with decent quality and realise that the small Sony and Panasonic models are from 2019 while a gazillion mm zoom and a one inch sensor might not be the thing they want to spend over one thousand Euros on. Then they touch an X-T5 an realise how much nicer a Fuji feels.
Not the whole world is on tiktok.
Edit: I don't think we should feel butt hurt that a nice product turns viral. And Karens still buy small Sonys. Because their photog friend told them so. 😅 Let them.

lol the x100 doesn't merely "look" like an old camera- its like a new mustang or any of those retro muscle cars- they look like the old ones but also, you still have to push a clutch in with your left foot and pick a gear. you might ask, we almost have cars that drive themselves why would we still offer manual features? cuz some people still like to drive. they want to feel the power hit the tires when they let go of clutch. the x100 is manual stick shift for people who can't let go of film. you might think that speed dial on top is strange and who would ever use it- film people use it. people who have x100's and don't ever touch the speed dial, now those are idiots and i don't know why they didn't buy anything else.

Glad I’m not the only one who can’t see the point of the new Fuji. Can’t change the lens, 40mm is neither wide nor tele, too big to go in your pocket. Better spend the money on an up market phone, which will make calls, do text, show you emails, social media, calendar…… The Sony lens also seems odd, a nice kit lens perhaps for the new 7C bodies as it’s compact compared to the 24-70. The sigma 500 prime is too slow a lens when the 200-600 exists……

X100vi, yes for photography 40 mpx and ibis is a good upgrade. For video not including uhs2 and a front facing screen is a joke.
Sigma 15. Nah. Sigma 500, no for people who are not pro a zoom is much more usable for wildlife.
However, for Fuji Sigma is the winner. The 18-50 f2.8 beats all the Fuji zooms in price, size, speed, close up and value.
Panasonic 28-200 looks like crap vs the much faster Tamron which is the best super zoom.

You get the same compression with every lens, even your eyes. It's only the crop that changes with different focal lenghts. Blender is great if you want to see this in action, because you can see outside the camera frame. If you change the focal length, it just changes the frame/crop. It doesn't move your 3D models coser or further away from each other, just as you can't move trees with your lens change in the real world. The reason you pick a longer focal length to begin with is so you can better utilize the resolution of your camera. "But! But..", I hear you protest, "an 85mm gives you a more natural flat portrait." Yes, because you moved back. A 35mm will have the same flat, compressed face, from that distance. You just need to crop the image to match the 85mm (and throw away your resolution).

Reason x100v was so popular was that all cameras are more or less as good as each other now technically so style is the only differentiation left. That plus inability of camera makers to make simple compact cameras

    I am someone photographing people.
I find the discussion about the look of a camera super dumb… and then there is the reality that this is shitty important in reality. Makes a real difference.
Photographing people who are not so used to, best with a smaller beautiful analog looking camera, worst with a big tech looking camera.
Photographing “rich” people: get the most expensive and pro looking camera. Makes a difference. These people also might have a Leica, canon r5, just to use it once or never, they get 20k camera gear on holiday just because it is no money for them.
