We love your wife’s comments in Italian while driving. ❤ She is real, authentic Italian. Thank you also for real, practical review of this Tesla. It’s very helpful to us. 😘

Glorious, the mighty all conquering Tesla comes under Flaviana’s withering gaze. A brilliant warts and all clip. Excellent stuff, your patience legendary.
A case of bad workman blaming their tools. Being miffed because the sat nav isn't picking a charger on a motorway when it's being told to avoid toll roads is a user issue!! I knew what was coming when they spent ages loading the boot without opening the massive compartment that would take two cases they were right yhe sat nav zooms out too much rhough .

Just came across this - your wife is a legend, her brief review of Apple Maps had me in stitches; and your seemingly endless level of patience and general ‘chil’ (and fantastic French) is a great combination.
Just a bit of feedback Firstly, I love the videos. They're fantastic! I've spent far too much time over the last week watching them. It would be very beneficial to have a breakdown at the end of the video that gave the details of length of time on charge, total cost of electric, average miles between charge and things like that. I started watching as I was interested in the e 208 and have ended up thinking of getting a Tesla So thank you, you've cost me about 15k
Thanks, Paul! Ordinarily I would do that (as I have done with the Kia e-Niro, IONIQ 5, and e-208 trips) but annoyingly I didn't write down all the information on this Tesla trip! Sometimes I happened to film the screen showing the odometer and Supercharger cost, but I didn't do it enough to commit to showing it throughout the videos. There's two reasons for this, and it happens to be both a pro and a con! • Teslas hide away the info a bit! I'm so used to having efficiency/odometer on the dashboard so I always remember to take a picture • Teslas make the whole process so much easier, I completely forgot about doing my usual geeky charade! Part 2 of this journey should *finally* be coming this weekend by the way. 🤞
@@MrEV Thanks for the reply bud. As I say, the videos are great - you have a real natural way of communicating, many others seem forced or staged. It's easy watching and one of the only bits of car related content that the Mrs will watch with me.
Another great video thank you. As well as all the EV info, I really enjoy the scenery you include, the food shots, info about where you stay etc. great work!
Hello from California, Love the EV family videos. Appreciate having to hang in there till 47:45 for the first smile of the video :-) Thank you Andrew for making these and thank you to your family for being cast members. Happy New Year. Looking forward to Part 2. FYI I drive a Taycan, be great to get Flaviana’s critical review of that vehicle.
Thank you for this great video - up to usual standard. This is a good start to the new year, perhaps it should be called The Eggshell Trail! I look forward to Pt 2. Flaviana’s contribution is much appreciated with her honest unbiased views. Certainly a valid view on a bit of planning and not having to fight Tesla's charging logic.
I've used Bip & Go for the last 3 years to run down to Italy and have used both in France and Italy, with no issues. The thing is a no brainer when driving abroad.
Your wife's rants in Italian are glorious!! Love it. Great video. As a Tesla driver (in the US) I agree with some of your complaints. Btw, your wife would love the east coast of Uruguay.
For me, Flaviana is the patient one; always putting up with the cameras and gear while on holiday! Nice to see some real world experiences of these EVs. Many viewers will agree with the issues raised here, so thanks for providing an alternative to the relentless Tesla-positive views on RUclips made by middle aged men (usually) who don't need to worry about practicalities. ❤
Hi Andrew, thanks for the great video, I really enjoyed it! Just one small remark: please consider a small Go-pro in stead of a mid size camera placed on the wind screen. In case of an accident a mid size camera could be dislodged and launched by the explosive force of the large airbag. A small Go-pro can be positioned in the top corner of the windscreen (outside the space of a deployed airbag). @@MrEV
@@DBGE001 You make a good point about safety - I'd not considered that. But yes, I am using a GoPro now. See my Peugeot e-208 road trip: ruclips.net/video/bUEv8PWj-3s/видео.htmlsi=sf4vaK2j6KrYuQfE&t=299
I can't understand the criticism of the supercharge, that you can't eat or drink where you are. I have a Model 3 for 5 years. I traveled to Italy twice without any issue. Even some of those locations are super nice and much cheaper and relaxing (not always of course), not the overcharged prices they got at the gasstation. In 5 years I only had 1 or 2 location I couldn't do anything but just charging.
I also usually have the same problem with stupid extra (not needed) supercharger stops… I think nowadays a bit better but still it would be so nice to have an advance mode option where you could tell you preferred “minimum percentage arrival” like ABRP instead of assuming that everyone is a newbie and is afraid of arriving with less than 10%/20%, I always target arriving with around 5% so I need to add every supercharger manually 😩 Just a little tip regarding unlocking the charge port at minute 40, keep the charger button pressed while pulling the cable handle, it will unlock. But it’s safe because it doesn’t unlock if the car itself is not unlocked… A tip for Fabiana, in supercharger stops you should use the hotel toilet that are always a lot cleaner and nicer than any motorway service station. When hotel accepts a supercharger their parking lot it basically accepts that people will use their toilet. On the other hand that earn money from everyone that stops and gets a coffee or a snack in the hotel bar. But I agree with Fabiana, some of them don’t have restaurant in walking distance which is annoying, in that case I usually pick up McDonald before going to charge and eat while charging. Very entertaining video like always 😂
My suspicion is that the Tesla route planner takes into account how busy the supercharger locations are and tries to avoid you waiting at the busy ones.
I found that arriving at destination with less than 20% charge where I then had to go looking for a charger after unloading. My family was not really ideal and so as manually, adding a supercharger stop before arriving at my destination so that at least I had enough charge to leave the car overnight and to be able to enjoy the location, the next day or two if I was staying longer. I got back from a seven hour journey with 19% charge thinking I’ll just park up in my driveway and relax, but as I live in a rental apartment and don’t have charging available,I was wrong. Ccar asked me to charge before it cooled down to avoid any issues
Agree that a head up turn by turn map would be far better. It’s like driving a beta test vehicle. At times nav didn’t speak up early enough. Resulted in a fair few wrong turns or getting lost.
@@mikee6114 yes I know. But it’s the smaller turn by turn view which would be better placed in front. As we don’t have FSD in Europe. It’s not naturally in the eye line.
I did a 2500 mile road trip in my Tesla last summer too, across Europe. You can indeed change the settings on the satnav to default in whatever orientation you please and give more warnings. But road tripping in EVs is fantastic! Great video, reminded me of my trip!
The maps app does have voice navigation. For some reason it gets turned off sometimes or the volume gets turned down so low you can't hear it. Here are the instructions to enable the turn by turn voice navigation. Touch the navigation settings icon to customize the navigation system to suit your preferences (the available settings vary depending on your market region and vehicle configuration): Navigation Guidance: Touch Voice to enable an audible reading for navigation instructions. Touch - or + to increase or decrease the volume of spoken navigation instructions. Decreasing all the way to the left or touching the speaker icon mutes the instructions. You can also mute/unmute navigation instructions by touching the speaker icon. This volume setting applies only to the navigation system's spoken instructions. Volume for Media Player and Phone does not change. You do not need to charge until the battery range get to around 10 to 20 percent (although you can go very low 2 or 3 percent as you did). You can use the trip planner to select where you want to charge and generally 80 to 90 percent is all you need to get to your next charger. People speed too much time fixating on charging, with a little planning it becomes second nature and is not a big deal.
Big like to the video, to the idea and to your incredibly big patience through the roadtrip and that you try to see the positive things in everything! I have learnt alot from you now!
I've used that Lille charger a few times now. There is an agreement with the hotel to use the toilets, so that's not a problem. Also, if you go out the front gate and across the road there is a really good supermarket.
I just returned from a 3600 mile round trip from Munich to Cardiff, via London and a trip to Birmingham in a tesla model Y LR, With 5 up and a roof box. Used 871kWh total energy, with average of 247Wh/km.
We have a model x and, since we have two dogs, one of the most useful and enjoyable things about the technology is the ‘Dog, Keep and Camp” modes! We would never give up our Tesla as long as we know we can keep our dogs in a controlled climate. You can find this setting in the vehicle’s temperature settings. Just click on the temperature and you can adjust the whole shibang! Love it!
@@MrEV The Kona Electric (and probably others from the same family) has had it for many years, but it is not so user friendly (at least in the older model, you have to lock the car with the physical key if you want to lock it in dog mode). I have not seen if the 2024 model is more user friendly, but some people say you can do something similar with the phone app too - surely someone can make a video on it!
much anticipated video and certainly didn't disappoint, i will add one note that in almost all cases the supercharger locations situated at hotels, the hotels have to have agreed to allow tesla customers to use their on site facilities as part of the agreement to install charging stalls at that location, so never feel afraid us embarrassed to use the restaurant toilets etc. i await part 2
You're wife is awesome 🤣 She is so aggressive and direct "i have to looke at that shite map all the timee instead of in the front" and she just keeps on 🤣🤣
What a fantastic vlog. Just bought a model y and interested in doing some European travel in it next year and this has been so informative, interesting and funny. I can see it’s been said a million times but a wonderful family with a feisty but very amusing Flaviana. The evil laugh at around 50 mins 50 seconds said it all 😂 Thanks again for posting 👍
As a model 3 owner. When i went in for a service they did a "rear power liftgate o-ring" Guess they know the part fails after a year so in France were proactively fixing at supercharges then noting which VIN has been fixed. Tesla service is excellent in UK and Europe too it seems!
I don't think the early ones actually had an O-Ring. I had 2 power struts fail completely on me, and then after the second one they additionally came and did an O-ring replacement. I've actually not been at all impressed by my local Service Centre here in central Norway. But Tesla Milton Keynes were very good about fixing the screw-ups of local SC when i was in the UK this summer. These things are very location- and people- dependent.
Great video, I agree about hotel locations being crap but the ease of planning a route works for us. I agree that the lack of HUD is annoying. Still rather have the model 3 over the Kona when doing long European trips
Enjoyed your road trip blog. Hoping to do the same in new model 3 later in May so was quite useful. Flaviana is so authentic proper Italian with those cursing while driving!
Baby is such a beautiful dog I would watch just for her. Enjoyed the summer sunshine while packing away our Christmas tree. Thank you for sharing this.
I was on a walking holiday around the vineyards of Barolo & Roero in November. There were white wines made from the Nebbiolo grape but I did not come across any white wine called ‘Barolo’. There is a very nice rosé wine called ‘Langhe Rosato’ made from Nebbiolo grape by Cabutto family winery on the west slope vineyards of Barolo village. I can recommend it but I don’t think it can be called ‘Barolo’ even if grown in one of the 11 Barolo DOCG villages. Another great video by the way. Very glad I didn’t buy a Tesla even with the supercharger network & subsequent software improvements.
Another great vlog. Who needs TV when you have such great content. Funny, informative, great scenery, etc etc I have just bought an I pace and find all your videos useful, Especially the one ref the 12 v battery letting Ev drivers down. Thanks for all the info. Happy New Year to you all.

Hello Andrew, I “stumbled across” your video, and as I’m not yet convinced about EVs, I wasn’t planning to watch it…… but I’m glad I did and thoroughly enjoyed it all, especially the “banter” between you and your wife. It was informative, entertaining, educational and great to see an honest, unbiased assessment in a real situation, compared to the “polar opposites” RUclips normally “serve up” on this topic. One of the main reasons I’m currently unconvinced about EVS is the “charging away from home” bit, but watching your video I was incredibly impressed about how Tesla have sorted this out, it appears to be a lot better than all the other car manufacturers. That said, and as you pointed out, they do appear to be in some strange places and I wouldn’t want my daughter or my partner to be charging up on their own in locations like that - especially at night - especially in inclement weather. I’m really surprised that Tesla hasn’t got together with What3Words and integrated the system, especially because their charging points are often in “out of the way” locations. Mercedes have it included in their system (I have an E class estate) and it makes it very easy using that in voice activated mode to get to precise locations. Thanks for alerting me to BIP and GO, I’ll definitely be signing up for that for my forthcoming road trip to France later in the year and that will certainly make it a lot, less stressful and relaxing and that’s really what I want from a holiday, which is why I won’t be changing to an EV ….. just yet. On our last road trip to France (last year) we filled up at home and then drove 170 miles down to the tunnel, visited Brittany and Normandy over a three week period and the first time I even thought about fuel was when we returned to the UK some 900 miles later. I’ve subscribed to your channel and look forward to catching up on your Back Catalogue - Many thanks - Peter
Thank you very much for your comment. Yes, Tesla have got the public charging equation far more cracked than anyone else, although Polestar/Volvo/Renault also have very good route planners, albeit relying on mainly non-Tesla chargers which, in my experience, often tend to be better located. I'll be testing the Polestar 2 on a long journey in the coming weeks hopefully.
There are definately some quirks and some of what Flaviana says is justified, some of it is just getting used to it, like reading the speedometer. You can set it to beep if you go over the speed limit, but as you say, doesnt always read the roadsigns OR it reads a sign thats not on the road you are on. Maybe need to expermient with the height of seats. Most of the time it does tell you "In 500m turn left" in good time. Sometimes it doesnt (not figured out why yet). Finding Supercharges can be fun "now your destination is on your right" - what it means is, it was on the right when we produced the database. But its expanded and we've moved it somewhere else. . Yes, we have been through a car park (in Belgium) because it wasnt clear how to get to the chargers. All the supercharges that are in hotels you can use the hotel facilities. Never had a problem with them. I am always tempted to charge it more than it says its needed. You never know when there will be a diversion. It will always stop at whatever the limit is (I see it was set to 100% on yours), It will always recalculate destination charge and redirect to a nearer or further charger and it will recalculate on the move. Sometimes you have to convince it to recalculate. Like add your own supercharger stop or remove a supercharger stop. (dont need to remove them all - otherwise it may just redirect you backwards again) Personally dont trust the auto-pilot. Even on cruise control it gets spooked by vehicles that get close or are going slower and it might randomly brake. Not a fan. I hadnt realised you need a vignette for Austria. Good to know. Love the video. Great to get a different perspective on the car. Where to live? Yes, northern Italy, Southern France. Northern Spain? Loved Castellini in Chianti near Siena. Good Wines, Good times. I've got itchy feet now. Need to go traveling again. (and I havent seen Part 2 yet)
If you know you want to stay longer than the expected charge time i tend to cancel on pre conditioning the battery by cancelling the destination and only inputting it at the last 10 minutes. Then car won't waste energy heating battery. With the pre conditioning and the charging the battery can reach 55C which really isn't that good for it imho. So don't pre condition if your don't have to, charge a bit slower, preserve the battery.
Thank you so much for your videos, my wife and I have really enjoyed watching this one and your back catalogue and it's definitely given us the confidence to attempt our own version of your European road trips by booking up to travel from Yorkshire to Provence in March in our Tesla Model 3 with our 13yr old cocker spaniel. I am sure that these videos must take some significant time to put together, but I am really looking forward to Part 2 so just wanted to leave you a comment so you know how much we all appreciate and enjoy your content!
That's lovely to hear, thank you! You'll have a great trip, and the Model 3 will certainly make it a pretty stress-free journey for you. I'm really slow getting part 2 finished due to work commitments, but I hope it'll be worth the wait!
I drove in Ireland with a Model 3 also last summer and my wife (half Italian/French) was saying very similar things as yours, "not comfortable", "silly air con", "Tesla map problems", "silly centre screen" and many other complaints.
As usual Flaviana is brutally honest about Tesla and i 100% agree. I think the perfect place to live is south Africa or east Africa Kenya Mombasa or Tanzania zanzibar
@01:26 A couple of interactions with Flaviana (when she is on fire) and those misogynistic men in Greece will be in tears (scared and intimidated). On a serious note, it was nice to hear 'introspective Flaviana' and her aspirations and perspectives on life. Happy Holidays to your extended family.
Thanks for this video, useful for anyone who hasn’t yet used leshuttle, vignette and pet passport etc. Just a few thoughts: Surely if you charge at a hotel, you give them your number plate at reception, to use the facilities/ restaurant? Re. The rear view, if you use the camera views on the screen, it will show rear view and blind spot view permanently. Re. Boot space, there’s a sub floor that will fit another carry on bag if needed.( just sayin’). Thanks FamilyEV and have a wonderful new year.
I love the "avoid toll" setting. There's some A roads in France that are beautiful to drive down. Sometimes only a bit slower, and far more scenic. The west coast has less tolls. Tolls can be as expensive as petrol per mile.
@@1flash3571 agreed, that's what a road trip is about and the reason it is called "road trip" in the first place. On the other hand, i understand there are lots of people who don't really enjoy driving and don't like the views either, so they just want to get asap to wherever they're going and enjoy there, then asap back home to rest, which is one of the reasons why road trips for them are stressful. Also, on a side note, i learnt they don't have full self driving in EU due to regulations, so i feel their self-drive experience might not be good, especially for the ones who are too paranoid and are afraid the car is going to make mistakes at every corner, when in fact you just need to be aware of cones and lane change in 'regular self drive'.
We did a trip from uk to Gibraltar last year in our model y long range. 3700 miles exploring on the way. Loved it and only £300 spent on charging at superchargers. Will be doing it again this year except to Italy 🇮🇹
Your videos are always great Andrew, keep going! We have done a few European road trips on our Leaf 40kwh (Portugal & Italy) with two kids and appreciated the energy 😉 Glad I'm not the only one with a printed detailed route plan!
Sea but no tides; mountains but no stormy weather but mountains make their own weather. Going to be slightly problematic. So Scotland, most of Wales, Greenland, the Alps, Chile, Argentina, the Orkney Isles, the PNW, New Zealand are off the list. Southern Spain is a possibility, some of the Caribbean. The Azores… all those crashing waves. I think not.
Thank you for helping me to survive an evening with my father in law watching Andre Rieu and his endless chirpy opera programme on Sky Arts. I had to watch the video with subtitles ( not ideal), but at least it avoided the possibility of me committing a heinous crime.

Andrew and the ‘no BS wife’. Great video. We have a model Y and a goldendoodle and are planning a 3 month trip in Spain. Your video was a perfect tutorial to get us organised. Like Flaviana, my wife hates Tesla. Like Flaviana my wife says it the way it is which gets me in trouble. Thanks for some amazing insights.
Lovely video and very entertaining. You need to take Mrs EV and family to the Austrian Lakes, Wolfgangsee etc... beautiful scenery, mountains, beautiful lakes you can swim in (with no tides!) and forests. It is a great place for a summer holiday. Happy new EV family people.
Good video. Nice to see an objective review of a Tesla by someone who isn’t wedded to them already. Colmar looks gorgeous, maybe I should visit Alcace! (Edit, and Stuben, but I already knew that about the Alps...)
Yes, Colmar is stunning and I'm determined to explore Alsace much more. Colmar is one of several beautiful towns around there. Lovely wine, too... nothing better than an Alsace Gewürztraminer with an Indian curry!
@@MrEVtakes me 30 minutes to pack. We had 3 suitcases, a coolbox, 4 rucksacks, and about 20 carrier bags that had to be stuffed into all the gaps! Amazing you can pack a car in 3 minutes and forget a whole massive space under the floor. Going on holiday that shelf thing goes in the garage and I use the whole boot! Bring a french campsite we also had to take bedding!
If your wife likes the sea and mountains, some suggestions - Kefalonia is so lovely and quiet, no parking restrictions anywhere, no traffic, swimming is lovely and great restaurants at places like Assos. And the island in the middle is mountainous.
Thanks Andrew for the video. Cars are so personal to the owner. My wifes Renault Clio is awful but everyone else loves it?!?!. Its definitely going this year. Roll on part 2 of the the trip
I too am an Englishman, with an Italian wife, and now a (baby) daughter. Prior to la bambina, we made several road trips to see the Italian family in various ICE cars. Now we no longer live in a flat we can finally consider an EV, these videos have been extraordinarily helpful in informing the choice. I don’t have the desire for meticulous route planning via ABRP, for moglie a high level of automation was key. Tesla was a clear winner, so I’ve gone ahead and ordered the refreshed Model 3. Thank you Andrew for taking us along for the ride virtually, it really helped! P.s., fully agree with Flaviana’s summary of Trento wines 👌
Who can’t relate to it, while seeing how some people drive these days. In Italian, it just sounds to the point right. We’re loving it. Thank God there are still authentic people like Flaviana. ♥️
It does sound like the ideal place for Flaviana to live is Madeira. Mountains and sea. You have to cope with the tides but there are safe places to bathe sheltered from currents and waves. If you get too hot or too cold you can just change altitude within an hour of driving. Very few insects. No dangerous animals except occasionally jellyfish in the form of Portuguese Man-o-War. Portuguese wine coming up in the world and a lot cheaper than equivalent quality from Italy. Property is getting expensive as many discovered it as a safe place during Covid and decided to buy property there. Still a lot cheaper than UK if you are happy to live away from the capital. There were many more EVs when we were there before Christmas, but charging networks still pretty primitive. However a home charger would mean you would probably never need to use a public charger. Battery degradation a problem because of constant discharging / charging up and down the hills. A friend of ours killed his Nissan Leaf battery in 1 year and I guess the battery warranties are different there.
Thank you for showing us your adventure of driving the Tesla Model 3. Which do you think is the best family car to drive, a Tesla Model 3 or the MG5 EV? Also is it cheaper to charge your car in Europe 🇪🇺 rather than the UK 🇬🇧?
Europe is certainly cheaper in my experience. France especially, Germany not so much. MG5 and Model 3 are very different cars and I’ve not actually driven the MG5 myself but I know people that love it. It’s also arguably better if you have a dog as it’s a hatchback. Model 3 wins in terms of charging though as the Supercharger network is unbeatable.
Ciao tutti...So great seeing this - immense flashbacks. My dad is from Lake Garda in Italy and still lives not too far from Canterbury (funnily enough). Every year he would drive us all down to Italy via the ferry from Dover with my mum navigating (badly), argument would then ensure in Italian and English after my mum would get us lost and we'd end up driving around the Parisian M25 for hours . Want to take my wife on the same trip as ultimately it's great fun and the scenery is amazing.
Just did my first road trip to the French alps in a Model Y. Never used a Tesla supercharger as these are usually located off the highway in shopping malls/hotels, etc. I found that every gas station along the route has high speeds chargers (Total Energies, IONITY, Fastned, etc). Way faster and more convenient. Charging really isn’t a problem.
Great video and agree with Flaviana’s comments re Tesla. The best thing they did was to open up (some of) their SuC network to non-Tesla cars. My one-hour long test of a Model Y was enough to put me off the brand straight away. Love the road-trip videos, regardless of the car you’re using 👍🏼
The Model 3 does have better range than the e-Niro and it’s certainly a faster journey due to the speed of charging (and ease of finding Superchargers). That said, the e-Niro remains a great road-tripping machine but only if the stops are timed for when you’re planning to eat as it takes a while otherwise. Especially in cold weather when the battery isn’t optimised for charging.
I am here as I'm interested in the Tesla Model 3. As per most of the comments your wife is quality! Your wife certainly, speaks her mind. You can tell she wears the trousers! 😂
Extremely valid points made, congratulations. I hope Tesla see this and pay attention to the comments of Mrs. Andrew.I think a heads up display is vital plus the ability to use Apple Car Play. Vital, Vital, vital.
39:40 If a short button press doesn’t stop charging and releases the plug, on some superchargers you need to keep the button pressed a bit longer until the light goes white (which means the plug is unlocked).

Your wife's rants in Italian are glorious!! Love it. Great video. As a Tesla driver (in the US) I agree with some of your complaints.
Btw, your wife would love the east coast of Uruguay.
… as it’s not got a west coast.
48:11 Pure gold! 😂 love the liquid honesty.
Very much enjoyed Road Trip: The Director's Cut. Loved how you managed to blame the car for your speeding!
Youve really made us wait for this one Mr Till. Im pleased to say it was worth it. Thoroughly enjoyed watching your journey.
Thanks Paul!
Thank you so much for writing that! You're so right: with a camera in her face much of the time, Flaviana is the patient one.
I can imagine the thought process... "I really should get round to editing that tesla video".. I'm glad you did Andrew, always an enjoyable view.
Oh sweet, new road trip vid just dropped. Loved the Ioniq 5 video you did a while back.
I have been waiting a long time for this .... but will save it for tomorrow ... a special treat for the new year!
She is so funny - you need a medal !!
She is hoot!! She should have her own show!
Excellent vid & thanks for posting. Really enjoyable content with real life in abundance. Best of luck.
to remove the supercharger handle you need to press and hold the button, you can also open the port by pressing slightly on it outside
Good to see this Andrew. best wishes, we admire you and your wife.
I also usually have the same problem with stupid extra (not needed) supercharger stops… I think nowadays a bit better but still it would be so nice to have an advance mode option where you could tell you preferred “minimum percentage arrival” like ABRP instead of assuming that everyone is a newbie and is afraid of arriving with less than 10%/20%, I always target arriving with around 5% so I need to add every supercharger manually 😩
Just a little tip regarding unlocking the charge port at minute 40, keep the charger button pressed while pulling the cable handle, it will unlock. But it’s safe because it doesn’t unlock if the car itself is not unlocked…
A tip for Fabiana, in supercharger stops you should use the hotel toilet that are always a lot cleaner and nicer than any motorway service station.
@hmi1750 the nav view can be changed to be turn by turn using a button on top left of the map.
Touch the navigation settings icon to customize the navigation system to suit your preferences (the available settings vary depending on your market region and vehicle configuration):
Navigation Guidance: Touch Voice to enable an audible reading for navigation instructions.
Italians leaving their country but they also take the rants with them 😂😂
I see now why you have gray hair…would have ‘forgotten’ the wife multiple times along the way 😂
Big like to the video, to the idea and to your incredibly big patience through the roadtrip and that you try to see the positive things in everything!
Love it!
For clarity, not only Teslas have this feature...
Yes, Dog Mode is absolutely amazing. It drives me crazy that more manufacturers haven't copied Tesla and done the same.
Out of interest, which others do you know that have it?
You're wife is awesome 🤣 She is so aggressive and direct "i have to looke at that shite map all the timee instead of in the front" and she just keeps on 🤣🤣
Clearly Andrew, never a dull moment in your household!
Thanks so much!
Love the experience with the Tesla, lot of hype, honest commentary. One good thing is the mileage it can cover.
Great video, I agree about hotel locations being crap but the ease of planning a route works for us. I agree that the lack of HUD is annoying. Still rather have the model 3 over the Kona when doing long European trips
Oh definitely. I love the Kona but the Model 3 is a far better road trip machine.
Enjoyed your road trip blog. Hoping to do the same in new model 3 later in May so was quite useful. Flaviana is so authentic proper Italian with those cursing while driving!
I love your wife comments, please ensure she is always here. She is down to earth ☺️
Baby is such a beautiful dog I would watch just for her. Enjoyed the summer sunshine while packing away our Christmas tree. Thank you for sharing this.
Try Croatia as a place to live, mountains, calm and clear sea forests etc. just have to look to the east of Italy
Thanks for the tip. I've heard great things about Croatia: some friends of ours go there every year and can't stop raving about it.
Did you use the cargo space under the truck floor? You can fit a full carry-on suitcase in there.
I'm absolutely kicking myself for forgetting it's there!
Another great vlog.
Who needs TV when you have such great content.
Funny,informative,great scenery,etc etc
I have just bought an I pace and find all your videos useful,
Especially the one ref the 12 v battery letting Ev drivers down.
Thanks for all the info.
Happy New Year to you all.
Thank you! Congrats getting an I-Pace. I still think that's one of the most beautiful EVs.
Thanks I agree ,got it in Yulong White .3 years old so less than half price ,getting 230 to 250 miles on a full charge at home for 9 p per kw. @@MrEV 🙂🙂
(dont need to remove them all - otherwise it may just redirect you backwards again)
Personally dont trust the auto-pilot.
Good to hear it’s not just us! Some of the comments seem to suggest we’re completely wrong! 😀
As usual Flaviana is brutally honest about Tesla and i 100% agree. I think the perfect place to live is south Africa or east Africa Kenya Mombasa or Tanzania zanzibar
A rough guide and we got a full spreadsheet with all the stops, miles, time and cost haha love it 🥳

what a great, great, great video. Really loved it
Sorry if I missed this. Was this an SR or LR?
I should have said - it’s the Long Range. I’m not sure if it was Fremont or Chinese made though.
Thanks for this video, useful for anyone who hasn’t yet used leshuttle, vignette and pet passport etc.
Just a few thoughts:
Surely if you charge at a hotel, you give them your number plate at reception, to use the facilities/ restaurant?
Some people like to reach their destination quickly, always in a hurry, and not look at the scenery.
That’s an amazing journey! Superchargers do make it so much easier.
Your videos are always great Andrew, keep going!
We have done a few European road trips on our Leaf 40kwh (Portugal & Italy) with two kids and appreciated the energy 😉
Glad I'm not the only one with a printed detailed route plan!

Err… I forgot it was there. 🤦🏻♂️
@@MrEVtakes me 30 minutes to pack. We had 3 suitcases, a coolbox, 4 rucksacks, and about 20 carrier bags that had to be stuffed into all the gaps!
Part way through. Was waiting for Flaviana to retort on trying your plant based whopper “s-h-i-t-e”.

Congratulations for la bambina and also the Tesla!

Your wife is so unintentionally funny, great video!
I had an Italian mother. I fully approve of your wife 🙂. A proper Italian.
Looks very comfortable car.....love the look of Model 3
France is great for charging these days!

Great movie. I enjoyed it. And kuddos to you for staying calm during the trip.
"I have to look at this shit map in the middle". Love it😂
Great video and agree with Flaviana’s comments re Tesla.
The best thing they did was to open up (some of) their SuC network to non-Tesla cars.
My one-hour long test of a Model Y was enough to put me off the brand straight away.
Love the road-trip videos, regardless of the car you’re using 👍🏼
Great video, how would you compare your expierence with Tesla and KIA Niro? Was it significantly better regards to charging and range?
The Model 3 does have better range than the e-Niro and it’s certainly a faster journey due to the speed of charging (and ease of finding Superchargers).
That said, the e-Niro remains a great road-tripping machine but only if the stops are timed for when you’re planning to eat as it takes a while otherwise. Especially in cold weather when the battery isn’t optimised for charging.
This video is very funny for me! And his wife is so Italian! Soprattutto quando si spazientisce mi fa morire 😂
Do you need head light stickers when driving in Europe or does Tesla model 3 adjust the lights automatically ?
Why do they take so long? When the power is disconnected, the electrical connection is off instantly. Wierd.
