I completely agree! I really love the show Outlander and it really doesn’t need the crazy graphic sex scenes to convey the story. It could be toned done WAY more and still be a powerfully told story.
I agree to disagree YOU apply for a job as an actor to a drama. Dramas may require some intimate scenes because they reflect realty of today and life. Explicit sex scenes are not necessary to tell the story depicted. Some things are best left to the imagination. No need to make actors feel obligated to perform what can be described as practically soft porn.

I know he thinks the show is some sort of allegory, and I did hear him mention he refused to take the part at first and they had to beg him. I watched the first two episodes of _You_ just to see what the shouting was about, and that was enough for me. I don't get it, other than he's awfully cute. LOL Still, murder mysteries and that sort of thing have always been part of drama. I try to avoid them myself. What a good guy. Film sex - along with violence - is getting more and more explicit, when it doesn’t need to be. It’s a quick way to pull an audience in by appealing to our base instincts when the story should be able to drive the drama
exactly. i dont know if u've watched euphoria..its for teens & in the very first episode u see extremely violent sex between a trans teen and a 50 year old man. When i finished the season i was in this dark depressed mood, everything was just way too much sex, heroin, violence, its too too much in today's material.
I like sexy romantic stuff, but dislike raunchy explicit scenes. Some actors won',t even kiss their costars due to commitment to their vows. I respect Penn..
Hopefully this will end rape scenes. It’s completely unnecessary, gratuitous and truly revolting. I can imagine it’s traumatic for the actors as well. You can only disassociate to a certain degree.
Bravo! It's his body and his life. Fantastic to hear that he wants to respect his partner and marriage. Acting is about a lot more than overused sex scenes.
I never really understood the point of sex scenes in shows. I don't think they should be abolished but there's no need to have them as frequent as they are and as explicit as they are. So many shows can't go 10 minutes without a sex scene. There are so many examples of amazing Korean TV shows that tell amazing stories with no sex scenes. It can be done in Hollywood too.
But in romance, the first time two characters have sex is part of moving the plot forward. I think we should just go back to the old school sex scenes. A sensual kiss, a look in his/her eyes then cut to the next morning with them waking up in bed together. We don't need to know if there was foreplay and what positions were used and who finished first. 🤦😂
I hate sex scenes in any show or movie and always fast forward. In my opinion those scenes add nothing to a storyline and not only make the viewers uncomfortable but I can imagine makes most actors uncomfortable.
Yes!!! If the actors are uncomfortable then I don't want to watch. Not to mention, it's mostly male directors. Some actresses have cried because of scenes. Nobody should have to do that for our "entertainment"
I stopped watching American TV because they have adults playing teens and five minutes into any show the adults are having sex as teen characters and this is why teens nowadays think that all teens are supposed to have sex. What they see is what they think is normal. All American shows have sex constantly in every episode. We can't even watch an action film without the sex scene. You can't watch a comedy without the sex scene either. The only movies you can watch as a family are animated and now they have adult animated shows too because once you add the sexy clothes and sex scene, it's not just a cartoon anymore. I watch international shows. They have intimate scenes but only when necessary to the plot, adults play adults, teens don't have sex in their shows and the adult on the show that have a sex scene aren't explicite. The sex is implied. I've never heard an actor say they love having sex scenes. Give us romance and love, not sex scenes. Allow us to use our imagination.
The time when actors where just actors is over, now there is No mystery, is very hard to appreciate a movie or a show without distractions because of information like this.

Gratuitous sex, is frankly, disgusting, and i'm no prude! I agree the separate beds is ridiculous & twould have just been better to not even show them in the bedroom, but come on, it is now, so over the top, its obscene. But this is deliberate, intended to desensitize us to sex all the time, so we become more immune to all the actual sexual abuses, especially towards women, so its easier just to view us the always (complicit) sexual pleasures for men. It really dehumanizes us after awhile. Couple this with the constantly increasing violence, murders, & use of guns - on our screens; again, desensitize us and get us accustomed to just thinking its not really real & so what, regardless. It programs us to want more weapons of destruction and more readily to engage in using some type of violence to settle whatever - disagreements or problems - with others. They go hand in hand, almost! They won't stop either, until we stop watching it!!

It’s only awkward if u make it awkward. Sex is basically a part of every day life for us adults. Just like murder death stalking etc. we just don’t see it everyday. If u don’t feel comfortable skip through and move on not that hard
Are you saying you should feel comfortable watching someone get murdered too? Going to the bathroom is also part of daily life but I don't need to see other people doing it, let alone be judged if I don't feel comfortable with it.

The best sex scenes are the funny ones that don't end up in any sex. Like the one between Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson in _Made in America._ I almost died laughing. 😁 Too bad they can't all be that hilarious-and clothed.
Considering a large portion of actors and actresses date, have sex, and mate with each other. I wouldn't be surprised. I literally read an article not to long ago where an intimacy coordinator literally would tell male actors that if they got an erection as a reaction to their female costar's body and/or just performing intimate scenes that it was okay. She wanted to make the actors feel comfortable.
Insecurities getting the best of people, it used to be a part of a job. Just business, Good actors can mentally check out and understand its fictional.
I agree I think that you can't make it sound like you are pinning this decision on your wife. That's not fair to her now if it makes her uncomfortable because she knows it makes him uncomfortable than ok that makes sense. But don't use marriage as an excuse, I'm proud of him for standing up for himself and saying I don't want to do this all the time but if you can't separate the two you don't belong in this business.

You’d think he was actually having sex with the women lmao. His wife must be insecure as hell. If you’re not comfortable, okay, but he was married to her BEFORE the show so if he wasn’t comfortable with the script, he shouldn’t have taken the role and let someone take it who’s actually talented

Sex scenes? Hahahaha. Come on and about the murders his character committed? Is this actor not uncomfortable? Nothing compares with how this horrible character gets over with the bodies. Nope. Everybody talks about the sex scenes, not about the sex scenes, which I watched worse than that. No wonder, famous, and better actors, probably, didn't accept this role. I hated this show, and I stopped watching not because of the sex scenes. It was because of how the actor who is not a natural one and the story is totally unnecessary to the world. It’s only awkward if u make it awkward. Sex is basically a part of every day life for us adults. Just like murder death stalking etc. we just don’t see it everyday. If u don’t feel comfortable skip through and move on not that hard
yes it is apart of life but people typically don't have cameras around constantly unless that's their thing
Are you saying you should feel comfortable watching someone get murdered too? Going to the bathroom is also part of daily life but I don't need to see other people doing it, let alone be judged if I don't feel comfortable with it.
I agree to disagree YOU apply for a job as an actor to a drama. Dramas may require some intimate scenes because they reflect realty of today and life. To decide mid project you are not going to kiss the other actor is unheard of and makes no sense. ITs like a porn star refusing to do the dirty it does not make sense. THIS GUY could have refuse the roll and walked. SOMETHING IS WRONG with him get rid of him or LET HIM OUT OF HIS CONTRACT and he can do Disney. He accepted the job its its HIM TOTALLY!
He did refuse the role, and they had to beg him to do it. They must have been pretty persuasive. He probably thought it wouldn't last.
Yeah some of these scenes on these streaming bettors are ridiculous lol Like very fine line of porn
The best sex scenes are the funny ones that don't end up in any sex. Like the one between Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson in _Made in America._ I almost died laughing. 😁 Too bad they can't all be that hilarious-and clothed.
But playing a violent killer is OK? I rather watch a sex scene than a killing scene.
Is anyone watching the show specifically for the sex scenes?
Doubt it-if folks are that interested in sex scenes, they would be watching porn
That means he gets aroused during those scenes otherwise why he felt like he's cheating on his wife when it's nothing but acting.
It could be out of respect for her also
@@cynthianolder3557 Exactly. God forbid a guy just wants to respect his wife and relationship!
Of course he gets aroused. He's a human being in an intimate situation.
No his privilege is showing, gtfo if you can't do it there are millions of actors willing to take his role.
The intimacy coordinator looks like jennifer gray
His wife's name is domino?
Haha no lols but funny
@Keenan Nelson-Barer it actually is I looked it up. Like the pizza
He is so fine
Emma Thompson is a queen.
Insecurities getting the best of people, it used to be a part of a job. Just business, Good actors can mentally check out and understand its fictional.
How do you explain the success of so many foreign dramas and k-dramas without those types of scenes?
I agree I think that you can't make it sound like you are pinning this decision on your wife. That's not fair to her now if it makes her uncomfortable because she knows it makes him uncomfortable than ok that makes sense. But don't use marriage as an excuse, I'm proud of him for standing up for himself and saying I don't want to do this all the time but if you can't separate the two you don't belong in this business.
@@meredithnelson5433 But then you're probably not in this business, so you really don't know.
I would watch more shows if there was little to no sex scenes. I do think it cheapens sex and love.
imagine if an actress said this . her career will end just like that
In other words his wife is jealous af and can't handle him doing his job
I disagree, I think intimate scenes are beautiful.
I won’t watch this. It’s too inappropriate. My standards are higher than than this. So chuck it.
Seems like a good guy
If he's not going to do the work the Producers should fire him and get someone in who will do the work.
I love that !!
I've never been much of a Fan of Rap Music. I think the only rap albums i ever purchased, were those from NWA & Public Enemy, & 4 all i know, those are considered Hip Hop or something else entirely? But that's just straight up BS for the Courts to be using their Lyrics, but no other Genre, against them in ANY kind of criminal OR civil - litigation! And people like ron de santis talks about "WOKE" ideology, when this is straight up RACIST BIAS!! & truth B told, this is what magas like him, want MORE of! PS: I almost called them "maggots."
Kudos to Penn Bagley 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Next step: stop glamorizing and stop romanticizing killers/murderers #OneStepAtATime
One of the sleeziest sex scenes in recent memory for me was from the main protagonists Eile and Fjal in the Witcher Blood Origin.... it was totally unnecessary. It was eeeeekie to the highest echelons of cringe!
Korean DRAMA's!!!😁
You’d think he was actually having sex with the women lmao. His wife must be insecure as hell. If you’re not comfortable, okay, but he was married to her BEFORE the show so if he wasn’t comfortable with the script, he shouldn’t have taken the role and let someone take it who’s actually talented
Who said she's insecure? What if he's just uncomfortable with it?
He should find another job
I am just so thrilled that Brittney Griner is back with us! & more super happy she is returning to the W! They better put her 1st game, at the least, ON major tv! But what did she do with her beautiful HAIR! OMG, it was just so awesome! I get it, i mean long hair is hard to manage when UR even moderately active, but with a very exhaustive type sport, it can be next to crazy! Still, i hope she grows it back & i will miss it, but not as much as i've missed her GAME! Welcome back BG #42!!!!
intimacy coordinator = perv lol
Good guy
Honestly, sex scenes are cringe.
Cool
🙄
Sex scenes? You can watch all those crime doc series, right?
😊😀😃💜💛↕
Isn't it funny that there have been sex scenes in movie for over 100 years and nobody's had a problem with them until this current ultra-sensitive, ultra-uptight generation?
You cannot compare the love scenes of before and the ones today. Today they are so much explicitly blown sexual act scenes than the suggestive ones before
@@fatsilver5905 Tee-hee, you said "blown."
Over 100 years? You are talking about before 1923! What are you talking about?
@@cynthianolder3557 Birth of a Nation, the first major U.S. feature film, came out in 1915. There have been sex scenes in films that offended our Puritan moral guardians ever since them. I remember my religion crazed mother refusing to let me see James Bond movies because of the "filthy" sex scenes it contained.
Just because sex scenes were less explicit in the past doesn't mean that people weren't offended by them.
@@devildoll9929 There was a scene in Birth of a nation?
