WRC, it feels like it's make or break this year. Dakar have just shown us how to present rally coverage to the world - and it's not with 1min highlights and poor footage. Really hoping the promoter steps it up this year!
The only people that seem to be moving in the right direction are Dirtfish, and they clearly don't have the resources to make comprehensive coverage unfortunately. It's 2023 now, you can't lock everything behind a paywall, when the free coverage does nothing to encourage new fans to sign up.
Things we are missing:
- cameras behind the driver/codriver. Somehow the official coverage is able to make the WRC cars look slow quite often, particularly with the in car footage which is like watching a dashcam. Bring back that perspective, and what about helmet cameras?
- proper highlights of the day, have WRC+ for all live if that's what people want to watch, but do proper 30min highlights (or 15 morning, 15 afternoon) for people without a subscription
- More full length stages on youtube (winning time etc)
- Make the powerstage free again. This used to be available on redbull TV etc and is always good to watch as at least some of the cars are properly flat out
- reduced commentary on all live - commentators seem to have been told they need to fill every minute of the day with talking, which just isn't possible for anyone!
- social media, take notes from the dakar this year.
Surely this sport has some of the best potential content, but it seems the promoter thinks we are still in 2010. Typically some of the best rally video content comes from fans who upload their own highlights and footage (passats de canto etc).

@@NOT-A-Monolith They aren't going to get anyone paying the $10 if the free content is rubbish to watch. F1 is a good example of good free content that drives people to pay for Sky F1 subscriptions etc etc.
@@igrok__1 True, the redbull coverage used to be the best way to watch, but I think their license/budget has been cut since 2020. Why aren't those day highlights on youtube where people can find it?
More free and social coverage is good to get more eyeballs on board. But the WRC+ app is great coverage for the price. They should do a rally recap on RUclips though like Dakar or F1 though. I'm watching from Australia and we never had good coverage except for recap shows. So might not have seen any better coverage of rally

Respect to these drivers for driving in the most of extreme conditions with speed and accuracy and concentration. It's unfortunate only the top 3 get prizes because it takes nerves. They should have extra kilo in the car allowance for their guts. ALL THE BEST THIS SEASON, MAY THE BEST MAN WIN!!

that is why they sell the wrc+ my friend.. i mean this is a company not a charity, on top of that WRC itself is dying and bleeding over the years can't manage to give everything for free now..
@@efemji they're horrible at promoting and getting main tv spots . They'd be huge if they had proper platform. Less then 1% of the u.s and Canada know where to watch and when it starts .
Half of Europe face the same issues .

Anyone know how to access stage replays in wrc+? I'll miss a few tomorrow so I want to see this "on demand" stage watching that's advertised.
Easy. Just go LIVE. Down the screen there's a running order of stages and else. Click on the stage you want to watch.

I see WRC+ is totally on point again and not listened to a thing that the fans and even team managers are saying....... interviewing drivers whilst cars are on the stage! Im not interested, but nice one for saving me 100quid as i wont be getting a subscription for the coming season. Too much talking distracting from the actual driving. Id put it on mute but you still have to show a full screen of a drivers face whilst a rally 1 car is being driven at full pelt! What are you promoting here? WRC or ray-bans??

Am I the only tired of the vomit inducing focus of the dash onboard camera, during every run of every driver, and its still breaking up...Fgs only needs to be shown in replay, if there is an incident or an accident. The few outside shots are enough. The cars are just too fast to show anything decent with an onboarrd camera now.
Maybe if they mount one on top, and towards the back, yes, like a sony playstation out-of-car driving view. I'd pay to see that view!!!! ...this onboard one is well.....rubbish, useless.

Sad to see only 3 manufacturers. Honda needs to bring their SH-AWD to play with the big boys. Mazda could benefit from the participation. And the Germans have lost their huevos completely.🤪😂

They need to use the BUMPER cam more - it conveys speed MUCH better than the cockpit cam. Why don't they show the BUMPER cam footage if they already have the cam installed???

The commentators are totally fine.
Bad sound quality is annoying though. The cars don't sound nearly as agressive, as they do in reality.

Every WRC comments section is the same, people crying like little babies about having to spend a small amount of money on WRC+...
You want to watch the world's best drivers, you're going to have to pay for it chumps. Can't compare it to Dakar or any other Motorsport which doesn't have the same proven base. Compare it to F1 - where's your 30 minute free highlights there? Didn't think so...
This society of 'gimme everything for free' - running a business doesn't work like that... If they provide 30 minute free highlight videos, then the number of paid subscribers goes down and guess what, can't cover the overheads of making the content. Flying around the world and getting helicopters in the sky ain't cheap.....
True but wrc highlights use to be extremely good 10+ years ago.
A strong case has to be made for it, and the poorer the person you want to convince, the stronger your demo needs to be. It's strong enough that I will follow what I can but that's it. To you the price is the same as buying the cheapest slice of bread, to others it might be a little more prohibitive.

Its a shame and boring see only 3 manufacturers, citroen not realy a great competidor this year, i miss subaru, peugeot and more
