    According Korg's repair document for this, you're suppose to do the following after the contact strips have been replaced.
    Set the “Select RH3 Type” parameter in the diagnostic program
    1. Turn the Kronos on.
    2. Check that the update has been installed correctly.
    Confirm that the correct System Version is shown on the startup screen, or under the Options Info page in the Global mode.
    3. Start the diagnostic program by pressing and holding the following front panel buttons.:
    [ENTER]
    [2]
    [MIXER KNOBS]
    [RESET CONTROLS]
    4. The diagnostic program will start on the “Fan Control” page.
    5. Press the Value Inc [^] button six times to select the “Key & After T” page.
    6. Press the [ENTER] Button.
    7. Press the [FF>>] Button.
    8. A “Not Completed” message will display on the LCD. Touch anywhere on the LCD to clear the
    message.
    9. Touch the KDP1 box on the LCD. The box will turn green when it is selected.
    10. Press the [ENTER] button.
    11. The screen will display “Now writing to internal memory…” for a few seconds, after which it
    will switch to the Aftertouch page. DO NOT touch the Keybed.
    12. Turn the Kronos off.
    The Kronos is now set to “KDP1” mode

    Partially Worked for me !
    The key feeling changed a bit after the replacement becoming slighly harder but the problem was fixed !!!
    Finally after days recording midi without any need for double notes correction. The problem showed up again in a lesser extent.... !!
    So overall it works nicely. I just hope it will last and does not come back when the rubber age.

    Awesome video! I've always disliked how my 2011 Kronos felt to play (especially at quieter volumes), but never got around to doing this. Will definitely get on it!

    Excellent! I have a Kronos 2 LS88 where the A4/A#/B and C5 do not give any sound which I'd like to fix. Is it possible just to replace one rubber strip or do I need to replace them all at once? I also think that a loose contact is causing this or some dirt on the board. Maybe you could give me some advice?
    Thanks in advance!
    Bye,
    Dee

      You don't have to replace all the rubber strips, so if you just want to do one, that is ok. I don't think that will be the issue though. Maybe remove all the rubber strips and get contact cleaner and use it on the contacts across the keyboard. That may help with it.

    I changed the blue for the pink on my kronos X and they didnt seem to fit. If you look at 5:44 on your video they protrude slightly higher than the pinks. Did you get any issues.

      While I have moved on the Kronos now, I did not have any issues after the change and neither has the new owner. it definitely fit. Mine wasn't the X. I thought the issues were sorted by then, though I could be wrong. Also, I wouldn't go to the pinks, only change to the blues. The pink ones are bad. Hope that helps.

    I have 3 consecutive keys on my Kronos 61 v2 that will not trigger a sound. I think it’s from the strapped padding in my gator semi rigid case pressing down on the notes while it was stored on its back rather than lying flat. Do you think it’s a contact issue?

    • @TechToTunes

      If the rubber strip over the contacts has deteriorated, that could cause an issue. I would open it up and remove the rubber strips, clean the contacts with contact cleaner, put it back together and see. You may also see the problem by just opening it up. Could be as simple as the rubber not popping back up, which may easily be fixed. It could also just be something caught between the rubber and contacts.

    Hi, i contacted the Korg service center in mumbai for the contact strip as you don't get them here in ahmedabad. The Mumbai Store said there were two different types of contact strips, can someone help me out with which ones are used in the 2011 Korg Kronos 73?

    Does the original 61-key Kronos have the same problem (and solution), or just the 73 and 88?

    • @TechToTunes

      Just the piano weighted models from my understanding.

    Hi, thanks for the video, I badly need contact strips for a Korg SP-300, they look pretty much the same than Kronos's. Are they strictly the same ? if not, yo have an idea where I could find them ? they're hard to find. Thanks.

    • @TechToTunes
      @TechToTunes  4 года назад

      I ordered the contact strips direct from Korg. Give them a call in your country and they may be able to help you.

      @@TechToTunes I came up with a simple solution: take the piano apart, remove the strips, and clean everything with alcohol, and it works. But my question remains: are the strips the same for all pianos? It looks like they are. (and thanks for answering)

    Hello, thank you for this tutorial. I just both a used Korg Kronos V1 and I also notice the problem. I already searched for a place to order replacement strips. Do they have to be of blue color? e.g. on synth-parts.com the original replacement rubbers are of pink color.

    • @TechToTunes
      @TechToTunes  3 года назад +1

      Yes they need to be blue. Pink are the original and they have the issue in design. The blue is the corrected ones. Only buy blue.

    Hello sir.. in my Kronos 2 .... key C4 is having some issue... I have to apply more force than other key key to play the key C4... What would be the problem??? It's only happening only with SGX2 engine with other engine is fine..

    • @TechToTunes
      @TechToTunes  3 года назад +1

      Odd that is happens on only one key and only one engine. I'd do a reset of the synth myself to remove the issue of it being software. Otherwise, I could be looking at dirty contacts on the C4 key. I would clean the contacts with contact cleaner where the C4 key. Maybe it's just some dirt between the rubber and the contacts. One key tends to suggest a dirty/faulty contact.

    I have performed this repair and I am still experiencing note cutoff. I fear there is yet a problem with the actual key bed. (I also did the additional step of changing keyboard type In system test menu). Very frustrating.

      Did you source the contact strips direct from Korg? I haven't played my Korg in a little while but it definitely fixed it for me. Sorry to hear it hadn't for you.

      @@georgespencer5182 Unfortunately no. I suspect the only solution (at least for mine) is replace the keybed. At this point I have just learned to live with it. :(
