In my opinion, the song basically says that we should take care of our parents before it's too late. To show them our love while they are still strong and healthy, not when they are basically on the deathbed.

    Actually MAPA have three meaning
    MAPA- Map in English
    Ma- Mama(mother), Pa- Papa(Father)
Ma- Mata (Eyes, our Mama serves as our eyes who’s there whenever the world changes); Pa- Paa (Feet, our Papa serves as our feet that guided us)
Pablo really likes wordplay so yah

MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) | Mapa = Map (English)
Our Map is our MaPa in this Life journey. | Both used and present on this song.
This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19.
This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them.
In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map).
In the Filipino culture, we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still and its time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the days and time they give and sacrifices for us.
This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason.
Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing.
Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again.
For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa.
For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute.
Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them.
Each one of us has a story to tell with regard to our MaPa and Mapa. I wanna hear em. You may share and comment your story here.
This second single, MAPA answers the “Where” from this comeback.
IF the song “What” is proudly swinging our Flags, this “Where” is talking about our Origin, our parents and wherever we go, we will always go back to ur family.

Our culture has strong family ties. And when we become adults, it is ingrained in us to take care of our parents or give back to our parents after they raised us. So this song is basicially us letting our parents know that they should retire and it will be our turn to take care of them. A lot of us have parents who are abroad or children or are abroad just so they can take care of family. So this song hit us hard and we were bawling the first day it was released.

The first one who did the intro was Pablo and the wonderful voice you said was yes Stell.
In our culture we choose to take care of our parents when they are older as they did when we were young. So basically the song is about giving back to your parents as they have done and sacrificed a lot for us.But maybe other can interpret this differently depending on ones situation. more SB19 contents please.

It's like another way to say thank you to parents, especially to those who arent expressive (like me). Noticed how there arent really words like "i love you" and "thanks." But actions can still speak louder than words, they know we love them by how we treat them.
I love the fact that this song can be taken in so many ways. It really speaks that despite the different experience we have with our parents, we have all one thing in common. And that it is we appreciate what they have done for us, just to make our lives better than theirs.

Did you notice how smart they are to come up with the title mapa. Mapa is like the combination of mama and papa, and when it combines it means map because our parents are the one leading us the way guiding us to be the best version of ourselves. At first i was skeptical with the song coz how come they come up with mapa? But it turns out its more deeper than that and its beyond my expectation to be honest shshshshs

Lataratara lataralata is like a lullaby that you sing to calm down someone who is anxious or very worried of something... it comforts the person.
Also, mothers sing a similar tune for their babies to calm them down from crying while carrying in their arms... It's like a full circle story life... Parents caring for their children when they were young and now that their children grew up, it's the children's time to take care of their parents.

      @maizacabacungan8374 3 года назад

    • @merylgarcia2522

@@maizacabacungan8374 and what language would that be? you know that SB19 wouldn't put a language that they ain't familiar with. It's a tune... a lullabay, not a word... besides the latarata isn't two words... they are combined. They use it in a similar way with Lalalalalalala... That mothers sing to their children to sleep... The song is pretty straight-forward with the meaning and origin. It's not complicated.

@@merylgarcia2522 I agree with you. Josh said in an interview that Pablo created MAPA based on a lullaby his mother used to sing to them.
I can only find “lata rata(z)” in the Urban Dictionary. A take off on “laters?” Maybe? It’s a very long stretch but I’m not sure Pablo would go as obscure as that.

In my opinion, the song is suppose to be personal and subjective. So one’s interpretation maybe different to the rest as each of us had a different story with our parents. And anyone’s interpretation is valid as again, our family experience is a unique and personal thing to us. The melody and lyrics are so simple yet so encompassing and transcends different backgrounds. It’s indeed a masterpiece.

In my own opinion, since they are adults, they want to let their parents rest from all the worries in life. They have done enough. It is time for them to rest and the children will take over and take care of them. There is a deep love, gratitude, and respect that children feel for their parents. Hey, Wilson, you didn’t forget and checked it out! Great song, huh? I also loved how crisp and clear their voices were. Pablo likes word play, so “MAPA” is two-fold - an hommage to the parents and a reference to a life map that the parent’s guidance give them. It is not really about a parent dying or sick. In fact, it was born when they were touring and they were away from their families and this was basically the message that they wanted to give their parents. The irony is that the two members who sang the “Dad” part both grew up without or mostly without their dad’s presence. This song makes a lot of people really introspective. Several reactors were even in tears, as was I when I really stopped and listened to the words of the song. Cheers!

Hi Wilson! You have to connect the MAPA to the letters they sent their parents last Mother’s Day. Those are on the SB19 Instagram and Twitter account. That’s the basic reason for this song.
Pablo asked them what they wanted to say to their parents and then wrote the song based on that. Josh’s part is the most wistful (he never knew his dad and knows it’s impossible to meet him now) so there’s speculation that it’s what he would have wanted to say instead.
Thanks again for another insightful reaction. Hope you catch this performed live later today.
    💙💙💙
BTW Justin directed the lyric video so there’s nothing random about the objects there. Just like Hanggang sa Huli, you’ll find a connection to What? and also to the lyrics and singer. ☺️ Like the seeds/flowers to Stell.

It can be interpreted that way, parents being sick or in their deathbed. It can be interpreted how ever the listener sees it, just like SB19 always says.
But I think the sickness/deathbed scenario is probably not what the song is really based on. I think the context of the message has something more to do w/ the members' own stories which is in turn a reflection of many Filipinos' stories. It has a lot to do with Filipino family culture.
We have a culture of giving back to our parents when we are old enough regardless of whether they're sick or not, especially when the parents are not financially wealthy which is a common thing in the Philippines & which is also the case for most of the members of SB19 (Pablo, Josh, Ken & Stell's family & parents are not well off. Pablo's father works abroad to provide for the family. Ken comes from a poor family, his parents went abroad to work & has not gone back home since, Ken has seen them only once. Josh wasn't even able to finish elementary coz of financial difficulties. Stell was a working student so he could pay for his tuition. Justin's parents are more well off than the other members' but it doesn't mean they didn't have sacrifices, Justin talked about her mom having this disease but still choosing to wake up early in the morning every time to prepare their breakfast inspite of her pain & suffering).
So for SB19 & most Filipinos, the lyrics in the chorus is more like telling our parents 'you can stop working & stressing yourself now, you've sacrificed so much, just rest now & enjoy life, I'll work for you & the family or I'll bear all the worries now'.
"So, don't worry, close your eyes
    Stop crying, rest for now.
    I'll take care of it.
    You've done too much.
    Mom, Dad, rest first.
    Let me do it."
So this is more like giving ode to our parents' sacrifices (financial or not) & just telling them to retire & enjoy life, that it's our turn to sacrifice and make them happy now.

Hello WILSON! All SB19 MAs & PAs are not that old at all. MAPA was Composed by PABLO during SB19's very BUSY Season filled with daily TV appearances, Interviews, Preparations for their 10 Nationwide Concerts & a Major Concert at the Araneta Dome, etc. SB19 living together in a Condo & their Heavy & hectic Schedules Did Not go Home, up until the CoVid19 Global Pandemic Lockdown when all their Plans were put to a Stop!
Although SB19 Lyricist/Composer wrote the song, he asked All members to give their Input for SB19's Tribute song to Honor their Parents who had loved, cared & supported them through their almost 4 Trainee years. But then as with All SB19 songs, it has a deep UNIVERSAL Message.
I'd like you to think of the Genius of PABLO as a Lyricist & Composer. One of his Signature Brand in most of his songs is his Brilliance in utilizing the LITERARY TECHNIC called "WORDPLAY' or "PLAY ON WORDS". He has used "WORDPLAY" in TILALUHA, IKAKO, WHAT?, even in SB19's choice of their Official Fandom Name, A'TIN & now here in MAPA.
Ex. "TILALUHA" is Not a true Taglog word. PABLO combined 2 Tagalog words to convey the meaning of that song. TILA means STOP & LUHA means TEARS. Combined, IT BECOMES A "PLAY ON 2 WORDS" TILA+LUHA = TILALUHA, which means STOP TEARS.
In MAPA's literal translation in English is MAP. PABLO's genius in using "WORDPLAY" for this song Does NOT Refer to the Literal MAP. but a TRIBUTE to each of SB19's MA(ma) & PA(pa). Combined MA(ma)+PA(pa) = MAPA.
The word MAP was Alluded to one time in the song, something like, ;they won't get lost wherever they go because they always carry their MAPA/MAP with them & they know where they came from'. MAP here does not refer to a "physical location". But rather, MAP/MAPA refers to their MA & PA, from where they Really came from!
I belabored this one again for you to :KNOW" SB19 better & catch their "WORDPLAY" Easier next time. Til your next SB19 RV. GrandMa S..

for me, personally, i dont see it as a goodbye...i feel like, remember how your mom/dad calm you down when you are crying or something, they will just hum a note.. i feel, it is something like that... so, since they are trying to tell their parents to relax for a while and let them do the things that their parents usually do..it is like, 'chill ma,pa..I can do this, just watch me, then you just hum a song while they are chilling and you are working...because you know in your heart time is not always on our favor, so we'll take any opportunity to show/ tell them that we are there for them...

@@sherrymc9748 maybe it can mean "sign off" to the responsibilities MaPA, let me bear the worries from now on. Then Lataratara is a lullaby to say that "You don't have to worry MAPA. Sign off now, I'll take over."

  • @cedricromero9931
    @cedricromero9931 3 года назад +2

    It's a double meaning
Basically MAPA means map, your guide in a new place.
In the philippines we call mom Ma (short for Mama and our dad Pa (short for PAPA).
If you combine those two you will create a new word which is MAPA (Map/Mom and Dad)
Your mom and dad will be your guide for your life because the day will come they were not able to do the things they do to you the only thing that they can do is to love you and guide you to you journey while embracing your destiny, on that time you will do the same thing they did to you, you will take care of them for the rest of their life.
    I hope this helps 💙

    1. Shortened version for Mama and Papa
    2. Map in tagalog is Mapa.
Overall our Mama and Papa are our MAP in life
The interpretation of the song is subjective, may be your parents are sick, gone or you just want them to rest and enjoy life.
