    Skipper, what a great video; I watched every minute. I've been surfing over three decades, mostly on longboards, but boards from just under six foot up to eleven foot. I say this because I really enjoyed all of Devon's tips, helping with what I didn't know, along with confirming what I already knew. I've been looking at the CI Log for a while and probably will pull the trigger next year, and this video certainly contributes to the stoke I feel in wanting to give one a try. And Devon, thanks so much for taking the time to discuss this board - I really appreciated your analysis on the making of the CI Log. I just gotta find one in stoke somewhere here in Orange County so I can put it under my arm.

    Hey did you get any of that big swell I saw in Jersey? Did it hit the Rock?

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  6 месяцев назад

      The wind was pretty bad for Rockaway. I only got the tail of the swell when it was 2-3 ft. I wouldn’t even consider getting out on that big day. It was literally a death sentence.

      @@SkipperSurfReview I saw lots of video of Jersey, and all I could think was. Ho Lee Shit. NO F’ing way. I have seen Rockaway at 15’ surf-able, and been out in stuff about that size in Oxnard Shores, CA and C Street - in my youth - but that was, as you said, a death sentence.

    1700$ for a CNC board is disgusting.

      It’s finished by a shaper. What do you do if the local shaper only hand shapes the nose riders?🕺🏻

    • @drillhead4657
      @drillhead4657 6 месяцев назад

      "Finished by a shaper." You mean some guy hand sanding some gruves out and putting in concave.
      Way too expensive for that kind of work.
      If my local shaper only makes nose riders then Id get his nose rider over this.
      This board was designed in California by Wayne Rich, and tested in CALIFORNIA by Devon Howard. IT WAS DESIGNED AND TESTED ON CALIFORNIA SURF
      Don't assume this board will work in your hometown surf because you see Devon Howard in Cali.
      Support local craft, they know your waves better than you.

      @@drillhead4657 the board is a result of decades of surfing and shaping. The shaper, Jon Chun, that makes the log in Carpinteria was under the tutelage of Wayne Rich. Surfboards are perceived value. If you don' t value the knowledge, input and work of the people that made it that is course up to you. And of course there are many options available to all surfers, which is a wonderful thing. It's unfortunate this project is very triggering to you. Maybe once day you can swap with Yury or someone else and judge for yourself. Until then, enjoy your surfing.
