Today we unbox the new Kizer Begleiter 2.0 Button Lock variation. Button locks have been all the craze lately, but this one has some fierce competition...being it's own brother, the non button lock version of the Beglieter; known for its super smooth action and strong detent. How does it feel going from the Begleiter Liner Lock to Button Lock?

Have all different variants of the Begleiters. Agree with most of what you said regarding there is no comparison with the smoothness of the frame lock Begleiter 2. However your button lock can also be very smooth it just needs a few things. The button needs to be taken out and polished as well as the little section on the blade where the button meets on lockup. That will get rid of the button stick. Second cleaning out the bearing area and working the knife for a few days will get rid of all that grittyness. I have both the button lock begleiter 2 and begleiter xl. The beg 2 button lock needed alot of cleaning and polishing and now is nearly as smooth at the frame lock. The beg xl was spot on out of the box. Honestly, between all three models I cant decide which is my favorite, I find myself rotating them every few days. I find myself grabbing these more than my $300 knives.

may i ask if you recommend them? I am thinking about begleiter xl, belgeiter 2 or Original XL. I am a lil bit afraid of belgeiter xl size if it wont be too big.

@TheInchii i love the XL but I like big knives. Can't go wrong with Begleiter 2.

@@Yellowfin2na would you recommend something on this proce range with Burton or Axis Lock? I AM also thinking id 154cm will be better than 14c28n for me? I wil use it for Edc a lot of food prep and at work to cut tapes + thick papers 10-20times a day. I was also thinking about Bestechman Ronan in 14c28n.

@TheInchii for me the drop bear in 20cv would be ideal. That is my all time favorite knife from Kizer.

Yea I had the same button-stick thing happen on my Begleiter XL. It was fine out of the box, then got really sticky after some use. I just put a tiny bit of the same oil on that I use in my pivot, ALG Go-Juice, in there and it smoothed right out. Pretty sure the oil is worn off now but it's been really really REALLY nice for awhile now. Idk why your pivot sounds gritty, though - my XL is so frikkin smooth, it feels like a high end washer pivot. None of that scratchy noise. In fact, the pivot was so smooth I tightened the pivot screw WAY down because it was actually too smooth for my preference haha. Now it feels like a light hydraulic kind of feel on the close and it's sooooo satisfying haha. Kinda feels like a well-QC'd Benchmade 940 or something. This is the only Kizer button lock I've experienced, though, so obv YMMV.

The contour on the scale makes a huge difference in the way it feels. I have both micarda and carbon fiber and I much prefer the carbon fiber because of the contour... And let's just face it, carbon fiber is cool.

I'm glad I watched your video before ordering one. I think I'll get one eventually though. For the moment I'll just await the arrival of the Elementum II, Original XL and Pyrite I ordered... that should be enough "button-lockingness" for the time being. Cheers!!

If you have a dremel, or even tiny ball tip file, similar to a cone dremel bit, you can take the knife apart and gently file off the edges of the detent hole. I removed the hard edge on my mini beg ti frag detent hole, because it was way too stiff, now I can slow roll it out smoothly. Just be careful not to take off too much steel or the detent ball might rattle.

i got the same exact model as you. Is the button supposed to be hard to press??? like compared to my conspirator and pyrite which are soft to push. And also have that clanking sound when opening. I can also close the knife with a bit of force by pushing down on the blade and not touching the button. Kinda regret getting this knife :(
