Tenerife was not only a senior pilot but the Chief pilot, Captain Van Zanten. Odd that senior KLM captains succumbed to disaster.

Sad and poignant. Just enough information, respectfully and sensitively communicated. Good job. Thank you. Your book "Falling Stars" is fantastic, well written.

I've been waiting for the results of the inquest .. We didn't discover the cause of the accident.

Hi James. Several issues covered in inquest. Incorrect barometric pressures input. meto power selected ie lower than ideal. Faulty undercarriage warning light. Insufficient attention paid to the instruments. Shannon tower only manned by one person on the night. Chapter in the book Falling Stars deals with it.

Check this channel in about 1 hour. We have an interview with the daughter and grand daughter of Captain Frank Jakel of the Pan Am 1948 crash. I think you will find it very interesting.

Potentially interesting from a historical view point but lacked the punch required in such documentaries . The other contributor I thought might fall asleep as he reminisced upon an All Ireland Hurling Final (not relevant) .
