You mentioned it in the video. Emotional attachment. We mortals hit a lot of bad shots and seek to replace the guilty club with a new one. These top Pros hit a lot of great shots and get emotionally attached. 😍

I still play my original Callaway big bertha 3 wood circa 1997 or 1998. Had to have it reshafted about 10 yrs ago after pinching it in the car trunk hinge. I also still play a snake eyes 5 wood from 1997 or 1998 that I put together myself when I went through my club building phase. And a Rossa maranello sport 2 putter from 2005. Loved the look of it the second I stood over it at address.

Muzino pro 2 set of irons to 3 iron fitted about 18 years ago changed grips twice about 2 clubs shorter than recent stronger lofted clubs but totally reliable and workable. I know when I am hitting these muscle back semi blades well and can draw or fade at will so why change only regripped twice .Best round 3 under with these. Have tried cavity backs which go mostly left due to offset. Now retired dont see the point in new clubs and having to get extra 2 wedges to fill the gaps from a 9 iron which is really a traditional loft of a 7 iron due to player and manufacturer ego/ marketing the alleged longest iron. I have just added two hybrids and retired the 3 and 4 irons to keep up with the long hitters if I need to. Enjoy your channel keep swinging.

    I still use my 2006 Tour Edge Exotics Driver 10.5* with Aldilla NV 65g Stiff,2008 Tour Edge Exotics CB2(3&5w) with Aldilla NV 65g,irons 2008 Tour Edge EX1 3-PW with Project X 6.0 shafts, Wedges Tour Edge Bazooka,Spin Milled (52,56,60*) with Rifle 6.5 Shafts...now I’ve had sets from Taylor Made R7 TP,R9 TP,Callaway X20 Pro,XForged,Mizuno MP5,MP33 and presently JPX 919 Pro,Titleist AP2(2008).
All the above sets are/were good but NOTHING will ever compare to my TOUR EDGE,I recently fixed the driver and put in an Aldilla NV 65g shaft, man I hit that thing as long as my Taylor Made M4 and the latest M6.
And when all my drivers are misbehaving,I go to my trusted friend,my Tour Edge Exotics CB2 3w(Combo Brazed Titanium Face Insert) I hit that thing prodigiously long,in fact longer than my drivers combined, nothing beats the feel and sound of that 3w when that TITLEIST PROV1x comes off the screws...I love my Tour Edge set and will never part ways with it,as long as I breathe and can play this game.✌🏿🇿🇦
The only thing that’s not Tour Edge in my bag is the actual bag itself and my putter(use the old Odyssey 2ball with center shaft cut down to 33”) the best combo ever.

Using 1988 Hillerich&Bradsbury TPS Irons, 2004 (UCT persimmon) fairway woods and a putter I picked up 13 years ago.
I think we have very different definitions of old. HCP -14 as a holiday golfer for 2 weeks a year.
I grew up learning with these clubs, so I like to think I know them.
Pretty sure the traditional lofts and shaft lengths help me keeping it straight. Some of the irons might even be slightly convex at the head so even if I off hit, the clubs correct for it too.
I dont think I will ever change my irons. Putter and FW maybe eventually. But Irons? never

Love the lead tape also. It does wonders if you use it correctly. I always hit my irons a little off the middle to toe side. Nothing drastic but I put lead tape more toward the heel and now I strike it right in the middle of the face. 5.00 dollar roll of tape or 700.00 dollars for new irons.

I paused this at the 1:00 mark to say this, the two oldest clubs in my bag is my 3w its a blue cobra F7 and my 3i that the 2015 TM RSI UDI 20°. I have not changed those two clubs because I have not found anything that gives me the feel and confidence that I get with them. I do not change clubs that often any ways. I am using the 4-GW Wilson V6 irons, A GAPR LO 17°, and the M6 driver. I only change out if something new gives me more distance and forgiveness. If it offers more distance but less forgiveness, I wont change just for distance.

If a tour pro played every new piece of eq they were handed... they'd be in a constant state of "demo". Some clubs in the bag are extremely hard to replace. Take the 3 wood for example. Been documented through out history as possibly the toughest club to replace. Next imho would be a 2 or driving iron. Some have just stupid amounts of offset, and back bulge...so finding one that checks all boxes for a player can be quite a challenge. Seeing mixed bags on tour now is quite refreshing.

My golf bag. It’s an old Wilson bag that has looked the same for the past decade. I assume it’s the first stand bag to have ever existed. I have broken a dozen golf bags while the Wilson fossil survived. I was looking for (another) new golf bag in my mid twenties before I realized our garage bag was meant to be my carry bag.
It has no dividers anymore. The mechanics in the legs are indestructible and stable, as are the shoulder straps. The sagging fabric only shows how strong the metal frame is. All the pockets are still in great shape, despite having possibly seen the Reagan administration.

It was my first time on a course for 25 years. I made one par, one bogey, and the rest were terrible. I probably hit 150. I didn't take my old woods. My go-to club was my 6-iron, which I hit pretty well and used as often as possible. My chipping and putting were terrible! I need to get fitted for a hybrid or two. An interesting experiment would be to play a round using only the 6-iron, 58SW and putter.

My 60 degree Titleist Vokey from 2009. Even though the grip is not even correct for me as I bought it online over 10 years ago, its pure sentiment. I know what shots I can hit with it and what it has done for me in the past. I even purchased second-hand 52 and 56 degrees from the same line, YEARS later. Lovely wedges...

Still game a Titleist 915 D3 driver. Tried to replace it, but I hit more fairways with it than anything else I've tried. I can live without the 3 extra yards, I heard a rumor there's a teaching pro who still games an old Ping 1 iron.

I play Ping Zing 2 irons. I can buy any new irons, but love the weaker lofts which allow me to hit the ball higher. The wedges in this set are second to none.

Me tooooo!!! I love my ping zing 2s black eye. Oversized grips and those huge club faces i hit the ball a mile but still have good control on precise shots. Best irons ever made! For me anyway

My oldest club is a Leo Diegel "chromium special" number 88 sand wedge. The only reason that I have it is because it belonged to my Grandfather. I'm not sure how old it was, but I do know that Leo Diegel played in the 1920s and 30s. I think it was made by Wilson. Anyway...I think that athletes are a superstitious lot. We've got (American) football players who won't shave when they're on a winning streak, Baseball players who won't wash their hat for a whole season (which makes for a pretty disgusting looking hat) - stuff like that. I have to imagine that when players keep old clubs in their bags that superstition may play into it.
I watched an interview with Sir Nick Faldo (on RUclips) who said that at one point during his heyday, that he had 14 different clubs in his bag from different brands, sets, and years. In those days, when you found a club that worked, it would take a lot to get it out of your bag. That was in the days before adjustable clubs and fitting sessions at your local golf shop. These days, I can see getting new clubs more frequently because of the advantage that comes from the new technology being put into them. I bought a new set this year - of course, I hadn't bought new clubs since the 1980s so I think I have an excuse. All of that said, a good swing with old clubs is far superior to a crummy swing with new clubs.

I used to work at colonial where Palmer is a member and Before the clubs in his bag now he used to play a Burner 2.0 TP, original ap2 irons, an old odyssey Rossie 2 and a Fourteen brand utility iron that id never seen before. I think Fourteen brand wedges as well if I remember right. I guess if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I wouldn't call the clubs discussed as 'old'. The best example just happened. Steve Stricker winning the US Senior Open with Titleist 755 irons and 913D2 driver. In my bag, I'm using the R9 Supertri driver and Titleist 690.CB irons.
