I disagree with this one. As long as the right leg is stable and not swaying, you can add more extension on your backswing as far as your body allows and at the transition, the first move to initiate the down swing is to slide the hips to target slightly then turn. That slide is what creates compression on the ball as a long as all principle of the down swing (proper wrist hinge and on swing plane) are intact.

Although there are certain fundamentals that can’t be overlooked but this isn’t one of them. However It probably will help with consistency however with many amateurs
