    Absolutely! Two years ago there was an exhibition kick boxing match in Singapore at MBS hotel. It was a three round match of two minutes per round. The fight was between two boxers in their thirties. One was a kick boxing instructor and the other was an unskilled boxer.
    The kick boxer had a good first round throwing punches and kicks at his opponent who managed to stay on his feet. In the second round the kick boxer was tiring rapidly and the other boxer started punching and kicking him. The referee had to stop the fight as the kickboxing instructor could not stand on his feet and was grasping for air. He was taken to the hospital but died on arrival from cardiac arrest. He was a last minute replacement and he was not in good condition.

      I absolutely 100% agree! You have to be in condition, if you are not, your training will only take you so far. We are training to make our bodies the weapon. If you do not keep your body in shape it is the same as letting your weapons rust up... What good is a weapon that is rusted and cant use it? Same with the body, it needs to be in condition to be efficient within martial arts...

    Sensei I’m always amazed by the things you cover such as this subject of body efficiency. I feel blessed in a world of bs, you’re there to make sense of good and bad things

    Wow!! Very brutal and true. There is nothing more anyone could have said on the subject. This is the ULTIMATE physical training motivational speech. Anyone who is a martial artist has to respect what you are saying. I have seen many instructors who were out of shape. Unfortunately their out of shape condition seemed to have extended to their psychological methods as well (Taking advantage of students, being overly violent due to lack of technique...). It is a matter of dedication and effort. One cannot take a teacher seriously if they are lazy themselves.
    It seems certain people don't understand the concept of your body is your weapon.... Even then, most people are taught that having a weapon is what makes all the difference in the world. Not necessarily ever having trained with the said weapon or even touched it. Just having it.... I am sure you can see the problem right there.

    Being fit, healthy and strong can be a great deterrent for attackers or individuals who are trying to harm you.

    I totally agree. So many schools have black belts that are super out of shape. Your approach is rare outside MMA and totally good. As long as you don't shame students who struggle with weight for medical reasons I think more schools should do the conditioning like you do.

    I would say 20-25 pushups in a row is a good number. 50 pushups done correctly consecutively is a tall order even for athletes

    Question in the martial arts , deep down isn't MA about fighting or martial defense ? Love your work

    • @SokeAnshu
      @SokeAnshu  9 лет назад +1

      eric brown Yes, Martial Arts (bujutsu) was based on warfare. Without question, & I would not argue that. Martial arts today (for the most part) is not taught specifically to the military class, like it once was. Today it is more taught to the common class of people who want to learn how to protect themselves and the ones that they love (unless they are doing a sport martial art).
      My point is that there are no "secret techniques" that are going to save your life. If you are not physically able to do what you need to do, than you cant do what you need to do. It is that simple. It does not matter what "kata" you know, if your body is not prepared to combat, than you are simply not prepared, and you will fail. Physical conditioning is a must in martial arts, and it is sad that 90% of the martial arts do not make students have physical requirements to push their students to truly excel in the arts.
      Thanks for the post! Have a great day.

      Well said completely agree, some MA will not agree though . Yes talking to you Aikido , concept is spirituality and being above and beyond brutality with beautiful movements and almost no physical conditioning whatsoever . The 2nd dans have beer bellies , fuck even Seagal who is their god is a mess lol

      eric brown You can know all the techniques in the world. But if you are out of shape, it's all for nothing. Paraphrasing Bruce Lee, and he's 100 percent correct. Anshu is also correct in stating that MA skills are perishable.

    Technique > muscles. Id rather spend time polishing my skill rather than increase my pushup numbers. Real ninjas didnt have giant biceps - you're supposed to look non threatening and have good enough technique to defeat bigger stronger opponents.

    • @renelvital

      Ramsey Dewey who has a channel with that name said strength is a technique. Also, if you have poor conditioning then your excellent technique is out the window fast.
