It's hard to believe that its been 10 years since this vid came out! Thank you everyone for your support and love! That was a real good one. 90% or more of it still fits even after season 4 as nothings been said about Discord's existence before his defeat. and the poison joke thing totally sounds like his work too. Maybe the whole everyfree forest his his work as maybe it was once a beautiful and safe place where living things could be ever free until discord changed it forever. I don't know if any writers even remember Poison Joke as its never brought up again. My headcanon for discord is like Disney's Gargoyles's Children of Oberon, Discord is part of a vast family that include those horse gods that make it snow when other ponies are fighting as well as a number of other siblings like Melancholy, Eternal Sorrow, Harmony, Hope, Shadow of Doubt, irrational fear, pure luck and so on. These family members rule there respective elements and have a reunion once every 1,000,000,000 years or so. Also in Canterlot High Discord is a drama teacher and his tricks are all stage props and illusions.

My own headcanon:
Discord is not a being from Equestria at all. Instead, he is a 9th-dimensional hyperbeing. He is able to jump from one point in time in one universe to another, then reappear in the first universe the instant he left, and making him essentially be in multiple universes at the same time. In any given universe, his magic operates on quantum fluctuations, making him able to essentially create something from nothing. When he needs an item beyond his magical reach, he simply reaches into another universe and takes it.
Kinda proven in one of the comics that just came out! He's like The Doctor! :O

As a Discord fan, I approve. Though fourth season's changed the story more, I believe you interpretation is well conceived and highly probable. Well done.

To be honest. I think Starswirled the bearded was discord. One day Starswirl was created a spell (the one twilight got at the end of season 3) once he casted the spell to see if it would work, he didn't have any friends so mixing up his body! Since being serous his hole life he saw this as a oppertunity to have some fun. Getting the name "spirt of chaos" he become discord to soon to make the solution of the spell! Make sense??
The comics debunk this. We see Star Swirl and Celestia together in one of the later issues after NMM's banishment, but before the time of the mane 6. That happened after Discord's defeat (We know this because Luna was also using the elements against him, how can she do that if she's on the moon)?
Actually, Star Swirl the bearded once had friends. He just didn't know that friendship is magic.

only a few things messed up
Discord flew over Ponyville. Celestia and Luna flew up to fight him, they fought and he made them fall. Now, to get the elements. The elements were on the tree of harmony when Tia and Luna went to get them. They took the elements off of the tree and put them in their sattal bags. They went to confront him while he was eating the plunder seeds. They used the elements to turn him into stone. And that is the story of discord.
