It really pisses me off that the Kessel run is now a thing. Han made up story to impress Kenobi so he would get the smuggling job because he owed a lot of money to Jabba. Even Kenobi knew that it was bullshit but he let it go. That's what made Han a great character, a guy with a big mouth who knows what he's doing.

In the EU Kessel run was a thing but Han Solo did shenanigans with black holes warping space to do the run a shorter distance then possible. So it maintains the whole Han sounds like he is making shit up and makes Millenium Falcon such a bad ass ship surviving that run.

It sounds like they're sticking to Han's original backstory. I'm surprised you guys didn't know that, according to the pre-Disney lore, Han was a TIE fighter pilot with the Empire before he defected and rescued Chewie from the spice mines on Kessel.

Trying to prove to us that Luke Skywalker sucks while his replacement Rey is an even worse written character than he is. I know what they are doing, and sadly, having experience, I am not buying it. Heck, I dropped comic books to a big extent because all the guys (of which I am a man) are made idiots to the woman, it's so bad I just don't bother because it's so imbalanced.
All of the box office reports on TLJ are forgetting the fact that Disney required theaters to have the largest auditoriums reserved for Star Wars for a full month. Plus they kept 65% of the ticket revenue which was a record high from any Hollywood studio. And it ends up getting over taken by Jumanji in week #3? There is no way that Disney can be happy with this movie's box office returns when compared to TFA

Travis Grimes Lucas did write a treatment for episodes 7, 8, and 9… do a search for it, and you can read all three (they're pretty long). Definitely a better story than what we got!

What I heard is that George also thought about Luke being an exile and training a girl named Kira on the island of old Jedi Temple. However the temple was an actual temple, not a tree, and resembled Rakatan architecture a bit (from old canon, creators of lightsabers), Luke was actually willing to train a student, not just being a dick and teaching nothing in the end, and finally Luke could be an exile without screwing up his character.
In the pre-Disney canon he also was exiled after dealing with his fallen nephew (his niece mainly did, but he also stayed and fought nephew's followers), because the Supreme Chancellor blamed creation of Darth Caedus (nephew) on New Jedi Order, so Luke took the blame to preserve his Jedi Order and was exiled.
I didn't read George's outlines myself, but the same plot points can be executed in entirely different ways, as you see with exile Luke in old and new canons.
This is how solo will probably go: Han will be an incapable, marvel humor quiping, beta loser. His scenes will have bad acting and hard cuts. Lando will be a walking sterotype with only shades of his former character. Chewbacca will be a stage prop. Emilia Clarke will be the lead character who is perfect in all ways. She will teach han how to fly, shoot, and all things han solo. She will also teach lando how to gamble, be suave, and generally be the coolest guy in the galaxy. She will build and show Chewbacca how to use a bowcaster. She built the falcon and is its pilot. She made the kessel run. Han and lando will want to be her white knight, and this will be the conflict between them alluded to in empire, but she doesn't like guys, maz is her girlfriend. Boba fett and jaba will be in the movie. Vader and maybe the emperor will have a small cameo. The movie will have nostalgia at every turn in hopes you won't notice the nonsensical hole ridden plot and jarring tone shifts.
Or all the reshoots and millions of dollars dumped in at the last minute will make it competent. But I doubt it.
Thats not a synopsis. A person who doesn’t know the plot would have been able to throw that together.
The sadder thing is this: Star Wars actually did pass on to a new generation. Hell I live with a 16 year old who loved SW. BUUUT when you shit on characters and not bring anything new to a franchise even TEENAGERS figure out they are being taken for a ride. I am watching right now younger fans of SW looking stunned that Rian Johnson did what he did (Ignoring what JJ started), just fucking up Luke the way it was done.
JJ Abrams was executive producer on TLJ. He supervised and signed off on Rian's script.

My brother, who is a huge fan of the new star wars trilogy, doesn’t have any high hopes for the new stand alone “solo” film....I just find that interesting...
That Venom movie just can't work, especially without the story Brock has with Parker, and now they want to add Tom Holland's Spider-Man into the mix? With Carnage? Why is this even happening? I always wanted to see Carnage in the big screen but not like that, they could at least wait for Eddie Brock and Cletus Kasady to be introduced properly in the MCU or something, especially Brock since his only reason is to get revenge on Parker. Give us some history at least, Tom Holland's Peter Parker can't meet Venom and fight him right now. It doesn't make any sense to me why this movie is happening.

I was just about to go to bed, plans have now been adjusted.
So, instead of a teaser to the Solo film, we get the plot synopsis... the film comes out in 4 months, give us something. Even though you’re reshooting stuff, give us something that we can see. You must have something that was filmed for like a year that is of value enough to make up a teaser or something of the sort. The plot could be good or bad, depending on how it actually plays out in the movie, because the synopsis itself is just vague. Though I believe Disney and Lucasfilm feel the movie won’t do very well, especially considering how The Last Jedi has been received by audiences. Particularly after China has now dumped TLJ completely from showing in any theater in their country. They’re truly on damage control now.
The fact that this got rewrites and reshoots already says that it's a mess storywise.

This is the movie where they show part of snokes origin. At the end of the movie they show him waking up from his crypt because han accidentally woke him up bumping the millennium falcon into out while dodging tie fighters.
People did speculate between ESB and ROTJ whether or not Vader was manipulating Luke. It was normal to not accept what the bad guy says. That said, the delivery in TLJ was stupid.
All the delivery did was confirm Rey right. For Luke, it upset what he knew as true, or rather was handed to Luke as truth by Obi-Wan and Yoda. Rey doesn't need an upset of what she knew, because she's a lame character who cannot be challenged. Wonder Woman was a better character than Rey in the context of her solo movie.

I few that it has always been implied that force ghosts are powerful. Hence why Obi Wan said that if Vader strikes him down he will become more powerful. In Knights of the Old Republic force ghosts are very powerful. So the Yoda and lighting part doesn't bother me.

So everything set by George Lucas and Harrison Ford about Solo will be torn appart. Or thats what we should atleast expect? I mean Solo´s past isnt some fanfic. Its canon set in stone, by the creator him self.
Solo wear his stripes everywhere because he got them for his deeds before his service in imperial academy, and he honors them for lot of different reasons. Not his brown jacket borowed from Indiana Jones props warehouse. He rescued Chewie long BEFORE his service with Empire. The only thing that have anything to do with empire and Solo, is his time in academy, and his leave. Lando with Falcon also comes into the story much later on the time line.
Rest of it is part of legends now. But just this little info is the core info on Han Solo. And now there will be movie, that will completely flip everything we know about this character. Flip a canon set by Lucas himself. I dont know what to feel about that. Pretty much him - Han Solo and John McClane were my childhood examples that i admired. I just dont know what or how to think about movie that may and i personaly expect it will take crap all over one of my childhood idols.
