Why is that unfortunate that the value has gone down? That's a good thing... And we can only hope it goes down further, making them accessible to more people.
@@symphony137 it is accessible to everyone. you can get it in rom format. if you dont like expensive games get a different hobby. People like you with that lame excuse about a game being accessible to all when you have plenty of options. But what really burst my bubble is if you had the game you'd be posting on RUclips bragging about how you got it for a dollar. Respect the expensive games they are costly for valid reasons. If you can't deal with that your in the wrong hobby.
From what I hear, it's hit and miss when it comes to import fees. Some people have said they had to pay them whilst others said they didn't. So I would only buy under the assumption you will have to pay them and if you get lucky, it's a bonus. 😊
If you check out my previous video I mention where it came from and how much I paid (just £250). I also talk a bit about my (apparently somehwat controversial?) philosophy that games are meant to be played.
These UK copies currently go for around 300 euro and more. It's cheaper than the game was before but far from "not much". And people open games to play them...
Maybe? I have looked at a few copies in CEX now and the damage is consistent enough for me to believe it is a manufacturing issue (but damage is normally at both the top and bottom of the manual, so I got lucky).
They were packed by hand (most still are). This stuff doesn't come off the printing line perfect either. I'd wager QC didn't toss many for imperfections.
@@kidrobot. Paper inserts and other such things packed at the same media pressing facilities have similar issues. It's not exclusive to games despite rarely including manuals anymore.
Its a result of the manual holder. And when the case is being flipped around all over the place during delivery the manual is sliding up and down in the plastic clips which hold it in place and it's scuffing away at the manual.

It's kind of scam... But for other reasons. The PAL conversion for Rule of Rose is not the best, it's bordered and doesn't run at the correct speed, and there's no 60hz option buried in a menu to fix this. It's the least desirable version if you want to actually play the game and should command a lower price.
I bought 3 copies and you have saved me a job of opening mine. Keeping one copy for myself and getting rid of a couple at Cex for vouchers before the market is absolutely flooded with them. Subscribed.
so. that means that the market for this game and probably for so many games that are called HOLY GRAIL, RARE and such, are manipulated. There are thousands of the game - most of them sealed - kept away for long time to raise the prices and then sell them off at a good time. I guess we all overpaid all our games as so many might be not even rare. Someone stocked them knowing what will happen after some time :-) I am in the wrong business for sure. LOL. Even 300 EUROS for Rule of Rose seems now overpriced. But so many copies were already sold by just one seller. Lucky shop! Good job. I mean it. The best way to do business.
No thats not how it works, just because 1 game had a crazy story and cuz of that wasnt sold and stored doesnt mean any game out there got the same story?!
It's not like someone was intentionally keeping them hidden from the rest of the world in some secret vault... The game's European publisher is located in Italy. It's not really that wild when shelved copies are found, especially these specific ones which were intended for the UK where the game was banned, hence never sold.
Ahhh seeing that collectors like buying crap games for clout/shovelware. Maybe for Europe this is a thing due to it being banned, but here in NA it's a crappy game. You could literally buy it in a bargain bin for 10- 15 dollars at the time. It was kinda released at the end of PS2 career. Add insult to injury, 250 pounds is roughly 450.00 CAD. Ouch....
It wasn't banned in Europe. It only got expensive because people found out it was great too late and there isn't enough copies to go around. Learn about supply and demand.
@@SpookyDollhouse So the demand for a poorly received game selling for hundreds of dollars and to what? collect more dust on the shelves or to actually break the seal and play the game? Which in other words means for clout, bragging rights.
@@GrindingMadness It sells for hundreds unsealed because people want to have it to play it. (The dude posting the video even unseals his to play) There's definitely scalpers and 'investors' in on the mix though driving demand and price. As for it being poorly received, game journalists had no taste then and doubly so now. Easy as pie!
This game has quite the cult following and fans. If the mainstream media thinks something is bad, that doesn't mean people won't like it. I love this game, it's easily in my top 5 PS2 games. And this is certainly not shovelware... I suggest you look into its creators and their history.
No, they're not. This is exactly what ruined the whole market for old games. These grading companies are the worst. Games are meant to be played, not used as an asset by people who don't even give a shit about them.

This is actually the PAL UK version with the Union Jack on the back! Check out my video from last week where I did some sleuthing and covered this in detail ^^
All your saying is your cheap or broke to buy a particular game. 90% of games are very affordable. If you really want a game money is no obstacle unless you have none. But what really burst my bubble is if you had the game you'd be posting on RUclips bragging about how you got it for a dollar. Respect the expensive games they are costly for valid reasons. If you can't deal with that your in the wrong hobby.
@@gamegaijinoh dam so you golden. Congrats enjoy the game and keep it safe when your done.
I streamed it last week and I am really enjoying it so far. Looking forward to continuing it on Friday.
Did you get hit by the import tax?
From what I hear, it's hit and miss when it comes to import fees. Some people have said they had to pay them whilst others said they didn't. So I would only buy under the assumption you will have to pay them and if you get lucky, it's a bonus. 😊
@@matthewhill7937 Yep I got hit £65...!!!
nobody made a joke about 03:15 no? just me? ok...
Waking up on a cold winter morning
It's 340 Pound plus postage now.
Make sure you have the listing that is in Italian. That version is only €299 (£250~) and is still the PAL UK version.
@@gamegaijin Yep! found it. Thanks for the tip!
Is any game worth that price???
@@therunawaykid6523
No, not really.
Though, I guess if there are people willing to pay that money, the prices can't drop much, can they?
Any reason you opened a mint copy . I assume you didn't pay much?
If you check out my previous video I mention where it came from and how much I paid (just £250). I also talk a bit about my (apparently somehwat controversial?) philosophy that games are meant to be played.
These UK copies currently go for around 300 euro and more. It's cheaper than the game was before but far from "not much". And people open games to play them...
I’m still trying to understand how the back of the manual is damaged if it’s sealed? Heavy handed guys in factory??
@@SpookyDollhouse most dont even come with manuals anymore
@@kidrobot. Paper inserts and other such things packed at the same media pressing facilities have similar issues. It's not exclusive to games despite rarely including manuals anymore.
Its a result of the manual holder. And when the case is being flipped around all over the place during delivery the manual is sliding up and down in the plastic clips which hold it in place and it's scuffing away at the manual.
did u get hit with import fees

Havent dives too far into it but all i keep seeing are people tieing this back to that fake italian counterfit ring that hot busted?
From what I have read they focused on 16-bit consoles and cartridge games. These are legit copies of the game from when it was pulled from the shelves before release (see my previous video for more info ^^)
@@gamegaijin ah fair enough. In all honesty I think we are almost at the point where no one will be able to tell certain fakes apart anyways. As long as I can play the games then 🤷
I burned this on a disc a while ago
Best thing to do paying a ridiculous price just to own it is ludicrous imo
Wow. How much did that cost ????
I got it for around £250 (before customs).
Check out my previous video for more info ^^
@@gamegaijin im thinking of taking the plunge, what was the customs fee (hopefully not too much)?
@@jrc16ify Customs is usually 20% plus handling fee. From what I hear, it's hit and miss when it comes to import fees. Some people have said they had to pay them whilst others said they didn't. So I would only buy under the assumption you will have to pay them and if you get lucky, it's a bonus. 😊
@@matthewhill7937cheers good shout, worth factoring 20% on top (£55ish based on the Euro version at GameSpark 92) plus handling fee. The UK version is going for £340 which may be the same as the Euro one in the end.
I got a repro copy with freemcboot patch and a freemcboot card, just to play it on an unmodified ps2. I like the game and the story but the combat is awful🤣.
It's kind of scam... But for other reasons. The PAL conversion for Rule of Rose is not the best, it's bordered and doesn't run at the correct speed, and there's no 60hz option buried in a menu to fix this. It's the least desirable version if you want to actually play the game and should command a lower price.
You better not play this game on ps2 slim the orange ribbon cable could damage it better play expensive games on a fat model
This is not good for me!!
Ouch....
Collectors like to collect.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curate%27s_egg
What a tragedy. Vintage games are meant to be left sealed and graded
No, they're not. This is exactly what ruined the whole market for old games. These grading companies are the worst. Games are meant to be played, not used as an asset by people who don't even give a shit about them.
Blue case is a dead giveaway the first second you took it out of the box
PS4 games are in a blue case. PS2 games are in a black case. 💫🎮🦍
European PS2 games came in blue cases.
Yep. Early blue disc games came in black cases but the majority of the European library has a blue case. Which I prefer personally.
Well not all ps2 cases are, the platinum versions are in grey cases at least here in uk
@@therunawaykid6523 True. I had forgotten about the platinum cases.
