Why would they retire this parade? Something better next year? I can't think of anything that would top this... utterly mind blowing parade! The electrical sizzle zap MOOG synthesizer music stirs every emotion I have from when I was 10 to now. I hope the next parade is even more mind blowing. Simply stunning parade... though not first seen in US.
The parade is not going into retirement for sure, its too young to be retired. Rumors say that Paint the Night is going into refurbishment after the Christmas season (thats why theyre bringing in The Main Street Electrical Parade) :)
Hmm, thanks for answering. I cry foul though. I PAID to see the last Main Street Electrical parade before Light Magic came out. They can't bring it back. It is like Cher's 2nd farewell concert! This parade though would have me a complete mess getting to see it. Disney, is the best!
Is the music coming from the floats or the main-street speakers? How do they transition into the next bit of music to match the float that comes through without interfering with the section that's playing further down the street?
djlobb I know this is an old comment but the floats actually send out radio signals to the speakers on Main Street, so as the floats pass the speakers it only plays the music from that float.
Are they only short-range signals? How do they not cross-bleed? Some type of priority switching thing with whichever signal is stronger? My guess was that they must have had very elaborate syncing systems and timing. Guess not.
Yes they are like short signals. Once the float passes by as you can here the music starts to dim slowly but surely. Once it gets the nest signal then the music transitions to the next part of the song or for this matter parade.
thanks for posting. Great quality - though I thought following the float units from behind for so long - you missed a coupe of front view shots that were unique - like Mickey's float where M-I-C... and the Mickey Mouse are spelled out. otherwise - great to see the whole thing.
No, it's supposedly going to undergo a massive refurbishment next year while the Main Street Electrical Parade makes its final runs in its home park. I'd give it until the end of 2017 for the return of PTN.
I was there watching both parades on this last night. The crowd and avid parade fans were just wild cheering and screaming as it went by. It was so amazing and made the hairs on your arm stand. The love for this parade is incredible. Just like a concert where all the girls are screaming. Brought tears to my eyes and screamed just as much! Now I am very excited it is coming back April 13, 2018 at DCA!!
I love how the guy says lets gooo 4:41
