I just purchased one of these yesterday and pretty much agree with everything you've said. The alexa skill isn't all that awesome, it exists but as is so often the case it is minimal - can rename the vacuum in the actual app but Alexa won't recognise that name.... Agree also on your wish list points, the ability to do nightvision would have been good but I guess the price would just be higher than it already is. Build quality is excellent, and on the first run it did a good map job and cleaning as well. The gyro mop attachment was included in mine, and it certainly is better than the more typical non moving dragging along mop. Overall so far I'm very impressed and would recommend this device. Thanks for your really helpful review - is was a further decider for me.
Have you any experience if normal t8 regocnizes items on floor better at this point? (hopefully AIVI learns as it goes). It seems as cheaper and so far better avoiding toys would be a good choice. Even if T8 doesn't learn, it doesn't have to, if it's good enough as is..? Thoughts?
Great review, Ben! Thanks! I feel like I’ve done as much research on this one and the Roborock S6 MaxV as I can and I am completely torn! They are basically the same machine, but this one has a self emptying base and the vibrating cleaning mopping function, and 2 spinning brushes instead of 1 on the S6 MaxV. I saw your review on the S6 MaxV as well and really appreciated it! I know you’ve used both bots regularly. Which one do you prefer and why? I’m only going to get one, and I trust your opinion. Thanks for your feedback!
Roboticist here: There's a reason that you can't tap into the camera while it's working. It's using the camera for the AI stuff it's doing, and while you 'could' duplex the video (meaning copy it to another thread inside the robot) it may be slower and with higher latency, which is something they might not want to explain if you log into the video and it's crappy quality while it's vacuuming. This all has to do with what they want customer expectations to be. Better handling of the video can get around this, but the detection system is definitely what they put the camera there for, so it's probably going to get higher priority access for the foreseeable future until customers, like you, make it obvious they should fix it. (Which they can, if they just make it a priority)
Do you feel as if privacy may be going out of the window since tech is adding cameras and tech tied to consumers Wi-Fi now and more to our everyday products? If so, what do you think tech developers do to the data and video?
Help.. I just got mine... Had a few days... Now when it goes to the auto empty station.. it can't quiet get on it... Also I noticed the self emptier that is bag is empty... I cleaned all sensors, everywhere.. do I need to reboot the emptying station? Do I just unplug it? Help.. I love it though.. her name is Rosie
What about the little wheels underneath. Do they clog up with hair and stuff? Are they easy to take out and clean. We have a Dyson hand vacuum and an LG robot vac which both get clogged with hair and are difficult to clean.🤦🏼♂️
Could you do update now? If it learned to avoid Mr. Spider-Man etc? Leaning towards t8+ for now. Finland is dark 6 months a year and I don't want to leave lights on for the day just for the robot.. And if it's not that good at avoiding objects as normal t8 (3d) is now..?
@@AuthenTech What mapping problem do you have? I have read about problems with the map overwriting if eg a door is closed and the robot can’t get in. Then that room is”forgotten” the next time. Have you experienced that?

Wow, very thorough review! You did a much better job showing the various app features than other reviews.

We have an N79S and have really liked it - it outperforms our relatives' $700 Roomba by a long shot.
The $500 TS seems like a great option.
A very good detailed review. The best I’ve seen.

When you move the dock, did you turned off the robot first? Or was it still on?

I'm working on an update video. I find object avoidance pretty solid, but having some mapping issues.
