Amazing cover of an amazing song. Smelly deserves all the credit in the world for being the soul and anchor of that band and as a punk drumming innovator who is overly humble about how sick he is.
Oh definitely dude. Smelly is such an influence of mine and rock solid all the time. I've always tried to tighten up my kick skills to match this guy. Not an easy task! I'm pretty sure most people would credit Bomber from Rick Kids on LSD for that gallop beat though. Smelly would back me up on this 100% on this! Check out RKL if you've never heard em. They paved the road for all these awesome skate punk bands. Unfortunately they never had great recordings or the promotional skills of Fat Mike!
@@ElDarren He's also super professional and puts a huge deal of pride into his playing, he touches on it a lot in their book. The other crazy thing is that he's got the simplest kit, the same as yours, with just the snare, kick, one mounted tom, and one floor tom. I think that Byron from Pennywise has the same minimal setup too.
Yeah those early years they were channeling some inner RKL and I think Mike really stepped up his writing when Hefe joined the band. Thanks for checking it out dude!
Aaaah, this takes me back to the good times. Listening to a record like this for the first time & being blown away as a kid and a drummer :) Clean job, subbed!
What's your favorite drum part of this song? My favorite part is 1:35, I believe they never did anything like that before or after the Longest Line EP. Also I love the smile at 0:07 haha, it seems like you were thinking "the intro of this song is banger" :D
What's up Denis!! Yeah for sure NOFX was channeling their RKL influences with this one. They were totally into fast technical changes back then and I think trying to keep things interested for Hefe since he was just the rookie in this era. I love this EP. I think they did some super similar stuff in The Decline if I remember correctly? That song is sort of a greatest hits record in one song 🍻
Sweet dude! What a fun song to play. I've got a bunch of other NOFX covers too if you find the end of the internet and make a u-turn. Thanks for stopping by and commenting! 🤘
Well normally I'd agree with you on most NOFX songs but not this time. Smelly likes to play the double time "Forbidden Beat" in a very unique way. He likes to drop the third high hat beat of every bar to accentuate the doubles on the kick better. This ain't one of those songs. This drumbeat has a different feel where he's actually playing the hats straight across the board. Thanks for watching Enrico! 🍻

Another day of slaving and smiling, buying and trading, living the life of a wealthy man but somehow I don't feel so rich inside. SO GOOD.
I know right?? Yeah this is definitely my favorite era of nofx. They were crushing so hard back in the early nineties.

Só fuc**** awesome!
Sweet! Yeah that's a great one to play. That entire longest line ep is pretty badass!
@@ElDarren Yes, i love The Longest Line EP, but to me this specific song is easily top 5 NOFX song! The Death of John Smith is epic!

Hi-Hat rhythm in isn’t correct.
