      Hello, thanks for the review!
      I have the JBL 305 and I am Really happy with them. Do you think it's worth upgrading to the fx80?
      I produce Music and cutt videos on them. Now I am thinking about a slight upgrade because I would like to have a bit more Bass. My mixes are to bass heavy, I hope this would improve my mixes a bit.
      Also I was thinking about saving money for the Neumann KH 120... But it is a bit overkill cause I am not making any money with my music and for the video cutting the jbls are completely fine. What do you think?
      Should I stay with the 305?
      or save some money for the Neumann?
      or should I go for the fx80?
      Thanks 😊

    I've had these for 8 months in my studio and love them as well. You might be happy to know the crazy bright blue lights (which helped me correctly position my monitors) both stopped working within 4 months of me using them. Fortunately the red leds are still functional. Now I'm thinking about getting 3 FX50's for a 5.1 setup. I'll make a video about it if I do. Thanks for the great reviews!

    Just what I was looking for. I bought the new Topping EX5 some weeks ago to connect the optical out from my TV, it has XLR pre out, and a good DAC for little money. Think that would match perfectly together with these fluids for the home cinema setup.

    I have a Fluid Audio F8S subwoofer as my home theater sub, and I only run it at 50% volume because despite the size, the little guy thumps and overwhelms the neighbors with Edge of Tomorrow. I have been tempted by 5" Fluids becausr I imagine they are very good, but I already have KEF Q300s in the living room and JBL LSR305Ps for the computer. Big fan of Fluid Audio stuff though, sad they don't get much notice.

    I have a pair of the original FX8's Fluid Audio made (as well as a pair of FXP7's), they are rock solid. I've had them for over 7 years and they still sound as solid as ever. They may not be a big name company, but they stand behind their product and so far both pairs of these speakers have not let me down.

    You finally reviewed the Fluid Audio FX50/FX80. I have been raving about them for over a year now. As an audio engineer, I have never been more impressed with a set of nearfield monitors than with the FX50 paired with a Mackie Cr8s Studio Subwoofer. For the price and performance, the FX50 and FX80 really should be sold out, if people knew just how incredible they are. (The dip switch for acoustic space is a godsend for desktop setups. So is the dedicated tweeter waveguide that virtually eliminates IMD associated with most coaxial designs. The imaging of coaxials is simply UNRIVALED, just make sure they are positioned optimally.)

    • @JuhoLankila
      @JuhoLankila 2 года назад

      These for 400€ or Edifier S2000 mkiii for 440€? If you've heard them. I've got a RME Adi-2 for a dac so thats not a problem.
      Looking to get nice desktop speakers for music and gaming, occasionally movies. Something not too boring and neutral. Got Buchardt S300 for my living room so I'd like something treble/mid oriented, Buchardt got all the great bass I need

    • @thatchinaboi1
      @thatchinaboi1 2 года назад

      @@JuhoLankila You can adjust the frequency response a bit with the FX50. I would go with the FX50. Whatever speaker you get will have desk reflection issues around 125 Hz. There are different ways of mitigating it such as proper placement, speaker stands, acoustic treatment, subwoofer crossover adjustment, and built in DSP correction such as the acoustic dip switch on the back of the FX50.

    • @thatchinaboi1
      @thatchinaboi1 2 года назад +2

      @@JuhoLankila In regards to neutral speakers being less exciting or boring, I don't believe that to be the case. The purpose of sound reproduction is to reproduce audio as close to the source as possible. If a song sounds less exciting on a speaker that is neutral, then the issue is with the song itself or rather the mixing and mastering. There is however the issue of system synergy with the acoustic space which is not so much as issue with the speakers themselves, but an issue with the acoustics, placement, and positioning. A neutral set of studio monitors is NOT flat, it should have a slight downward tilt towards the high frequencies due to room gain. This can be considered "warm" compared to a flat response, but it is in fact the desired frequency response of a relatively flat set of speakers or monitors in a room.

    Maybe Z meant the HSU CCB-8 is good for off axis but not really intended for ON axis listening where you are looking down the barrel of shotgun tweeter. The CCB-8s perform great as a center channel mounted above or below your tv. You can also mount 2 of the CCB-8s above your tv and cross them at 30 degrees and create a great phantom center.

    Hey Z - first, thanks for giving me another neat thing to spend my money on (maybe). Second, I left you a comment in the Swan M500 review recently- I got a set and do not have the super high volume issue you have with yours. Maybe you got a set with a wonky gain setting, or maybe it was something in your signal chain? Whatever the cause, mine have a completely normal volume progression. I've had them up to within 3 clicks of full playing music, and that's with the Bluetooth signal 1 click under max... they are nice and loud, but mine are definitely normal compared to what you showed...

      Try the Coaxial or Fiber inputs?

    • @Broadpaw_Fox

      @@ZReviews - I currently don't have all my goodies with me, so I'll have to use my laptop, but if I get a patch cable for it I'll try the rca's. Coax would require something other than the laptops built in outputs, which I don't have handy. I might be able to use the xlr's (maybe), if I have 2 cables. I can hack something together with the mixer I have possibly...
      **edit** I just confirmed my laptops outputs and found out it has a combo jack with optical, so I ordered a cable. It'll be here Monday, though I won't get my hands on it till Tuesday night. I'll see how that does and comment here again.

    Well fuck, I have a set of Fluid Audio F5, for music production but also just for general enjoyment. Now I want these things. I don't have money though, and that's probably a good thing, cause then I would waste a lot on this stuff.

    • @thatchinaboi1
      @thatchinaboi1 2 года назад

      I suggest getting the Fluid Audio FX50 instead and pair it with a Mackie Cr8s Subwoofer. For nearfield monitoring you don't need 8" drivers. It is a waste. Plus the frequency response of the FX50 is a bit flatter than the FX80. The reason why I recommend the Mackie Cr8s Subwoofer is because it is an incredible subwoofer for the price plus you have the benefit of a sealed subwoofer, which produces more accurate transients than a ported design.

    Heard the Adam T7v in a music store, it was the worst monitor there, sounded bass heavy and not detailed to my ears.
    This FX80 sounded very nice in the store - maybe too nice, sounded more HiFi to my ears than a studio monitor which is why I understand why Zeus likes them so much for music listening.
    I wonder how the Kali in-8 is doing in comparison to these.
    I had a chance to test the Kali in-8 in a store, I don't know about imaging, but they sounded bass heavy and unclear to my ears.
    Do I need a "lying" speaker to color the highs to my old ears? Maybe.
    But I did test the Dynaudio BM-5, and thought they sounded great.

      Take a closer look at the Fluid Audio FX50 and FX80 design and notice how the tweeter has it's own waveguide. The Tannoy design will definitely have IMD issues at louder SPLs due to it's outdated design.
