Great maiden flight my friend and nice looking bird but I dont think that I will click the button for this baby. Thanks for posting and big salute from Slovenia, Pilot Robert
Thanks my RC Brother! With a couple of minor adjustments, the second flight went much better. The CG moving forward and reducing the ailerons another 10% really helped. Trimming it during this flight helped a lot too.
I love the looks of this bird but think I'll hold on this for now. That Arctic Camo F-16 is calling my name. Nice flying GB and great show with the Boozers and Ryan last night!
Thanks for watching me last night! I wish there had been less glitches so you could hear me better, but most people seemed to like it. As someone that hasn't met a Freewing Jet he doesn't like, this one is great, but so is the A-4 and the F-16. since the F-35 and F-16 don't have flaps, they are probably harder to land and require more runway. Even John is challenged a little by his F-16, though it looks incredible.
@@GBLynden The F35 has more wing area, is not that difficult to slow it down. The F16, that is a handful, but does it look pretty with the retracts extended coming in with a nice alpha.
I should have set my low rates even lower than I did. One of the biggest things I didn't realize until thinking about it later was the trim and CG also impacted that. The ailerons were off by several clicks in flight, which made it fly way better once corrected through the rest of the video. I was also dealing with an intermittent cross-wind but wanted to get the maiden done. The second flight went better, though I haven't studied that video yet to see how it all turned out through the camera lol
Hi Jeff! I have all of those details listed in the description of the video, except for the CG. I never measured it out, but I know it was farther forward than the book settings. This flies like crap tail heavy. I hope that helps! 👊💥👊

Sometimes with some planes. With a heavier plane like this, there will be a diminishing return by adding the extra weight of a bigger battery. 4000’s are perfect in this jet in my experience. I hope that helps 👊🏻💥👊🏻
On this flight I had it about 5mm in front of that plastic block. I moved the Admiral 4000 pack even with the back of the wood for the second flight, which moved it farther forward by a few more mm's and it handled much better like that. Reducing the aileron throws down to 40% and having it properly trimmed helped a lot too. This jet is going to help me grow my skills! :D
I'm torn between this, the Eflite Viper and the FMS f18. I have the discontinued Art Tech f14 which is a complete disaster. Crashed it more than I landed it. Was impossible to control.
I would say go for the Freewing BAe Hawk instead. I have never stalled my Hawk, but I have my Viper a number of times. The Hawk also has lights and is very easy to see in a variety of lighting conditions. The Viper is easy to lose in gray clouds with lower light.
Nice! I see you been stocking up on the big EDF Jets as of late. :D She looks good in the air! Saw the real one at an airshow a couple weeks back demoing in the air over the crowd.
No not at all my friend, we except for the elevator. I have that on 100%, but have the ailerons at 50% here, which I later reduced down to 40% on the second flight. I believe my rudders are set at 65%, but even with that, you must be careful taxing. It will flip over hard. You should watch my second flight video with the adjusted CG and 40% ailerons.
Yes, although there’s no reason to change those, at least for me. Those are my rates for all aspects of flight and there is no gryo. I forgot to answer than earlier. Edit: I also like my DX6 with it a lot.
It is significant. Flying any EDF Jet is much harder than flying a trainer. I made the mistake of going from a trainer to a 3S F-18 and it didn’t end well. I recommend getting a Parkzone T-28 Trojan and then mastering it. At that point you might be ready to take on a Freewing BAe Hawk and then this jet. I know that is a longer path than you want, but honestly, it might even be a little too short. I am here to help answer more questions if I can.
This one will be a little harder, but very doable. The key is the CG and taming down the ailerons. It also flies heavier, so it bleeds off speed in the turns more than those other planes by quite a bit. If you know that going in and still want it, you will love it 😀
Nice flying Bud. Yeah, she did look a little touchy taking off. Nice handling on your part. You are apologizing for a bad landing. Don't sweat the small stuff. I would consider that, one of my good landings...LOL
It was the Enfan 4200 shown at the end of the video. I was not that heavy on the throttle for most of the flight as the CG wasn’t quite right and it wasn’t all of the way trimmed out until the second flight.
Nice flight that things really scoots 👍🏼, I Maidened a touchy bird today with real twitchy ailerons and rudder, your landing was way better than mine, 😆.
I have just one set of rates after flying it for a bit. I have them listed in the description of the video. Please let me know if you have any other questions 😀
Nice flight brother! We can’t always nail those landings on maiden flights, every plane takes some getting used to, she does look touchy on the ailerons for sure but flys and sounds very nice 👍 🇺🇸🤘
That is a great observation, which went through my head a split second before I realized I waiting too long to compensate for the crosswind pushing it off to the side towards the curb.
James, you should check out my later flights with it. I had the CG too far back (it loves nose heavy over tail heavy with 100% elevator) and the ailerons needed to be knocked down to 40% throws.
@@GBLynden i plan on getting one soon...the biggest problem for me is that i dont have and inventory of Giant 6s Batteries Yet,,, and there very expensive as well..
And seriously awesome flying especially as the real wing, is only able to fly due to its fly by wire systems. Ie. No one actually has flown one acro that I know of.... and any landing u walk away from 👍👊😎 Seriously AWESOME jet... jelly!!
I agree 100%! I only use the footage in my videos from my actual maiden flights and I screwed up that one. I made some adjustments before the second flight and the landing went much better.
My God the scale model is beautiful.. AMAZING details and it RIPS! SOUNDS like a beast... damnn I NEED THIS NOW...
Thanks brother! I really love it!!!
I'm amazed with those black clouds you could see the bugger!!
I have great vision and muscle memory. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all to see. Thanks for the comment Brother Bill!
Is better to fly them w clouds, nothing worst than flying w a blank canvas.

Well done! Those little wings make it challenging. Only 50% throw on the ailerons and it was that touchy. Wow. Kudos bud.

Is your wing ok from the landing?
Just a little scuff showing the plastic underneath. It is pretty robust!
That was a very fast ride in the clouds.. Good job holding on..
Thank you! :D
Just picked this one up. What's the recommended CG and aileron throws and expo settings?

close one brother but you got it, i hate those curbs! you know i hate them very much! any damage on the wing?
It was very close indeed! Just a little scuff under the wing, not to bad actually. Thanks for watching! :D

@@GBLynden Well that's good! Jets are fun to fly and the sound of a 12 bladed fan as it pass by or is in the distance is a nice sound to hear.
Are your high rates all set at 100%? Would you suggest a gyro in the receiver? How do you like the dx6?

How much of a learning curve is there to go from an electric trainer to this?

Nice maiden! It sure looks touchy to fly... I guess not as easy and forgiving as a Viper or Avanti?
Yep, not as forgiving as either. It was much better once I trimmed it, reduced aileron throws, and moved the CG farther forward.
@@GBLynden funny I've moved mine back quite a bit really helps with alpha landings .
Can this flat spin?
