Is it possible to take off and land it on the grass? My local flying field has only grass runway. Or at least hand launch it and land(crash it) in the tall grass(its over 1 meter high we keep a batch as a catcher for planes without landing gear or for emergency landings) for coushion xD?
I have the Freewing 80mm F-5 Tiger and I'm interested in buying this plane. Is this plane easier to fly compared to the F-5. I think the F-5 Is pretty easy to fly.
Haveing flown both I would say they are very comparable. They both have shorter wingspans so you just want to maiden her on low rates to start and adjust accordingly. If you rates are too high, like the F5, she can roll like a drill bit. But since your flying the F5, you'll be good
I've got a old military runway behind my house. Has some small rocks all over it and not really possible to clean that up. Any blocker plates for thay lower intake? Will it fly with the normal intake?
those are designed on most EDF models to help feed the fan because just scaling a real jet down to this size isn't a perfect science. You wouldn't want to do that. ROcks and EDF's dont mix
@@MotionRC awesome. Thanks for the reply! I was also thinking of designing a small screen that after takeoff you can use a servo and move a rod thsy allows it to fall off. So it would have airflow just not 100% until it the screen is released and falls away. Probably a pipe dream but might be cool to try.
I'd like to let you know about a little technique I use to make using the rudder on a fighter jet more easy or intuitive to use. I've wanted to do a video about this for awhile but haven't had the chance. But try using the Hobby Eagle A3 Super 3 version gyro and set it up like normal. Except setup one mode as "User defined". Then set up "User defined" mode so that the aileron is using attitude lock mode and the elevator and rudder are normal mode. This way when you go to that mode in flight. The aileron will lock to the last position you placed it in. This means if your in level flight, say on approach. You'll be able to use significantly more rudder without "weird things" happening. This is because the gyro is attempting to remove any roll coupling that will come with using rudder, and instead hold the position you last set. The result is a more normal yaw maneuver rather than a unexpected snap or something like that. However, if you push rudder to hard, or to fast. The jet can still snap. It all depends on how much attitude lock gain your able to use without the plane oscillating and how much rudder you actually input. Another benefit of this setup is that you can put the plane in knife edge and the aileron will hold it's position in KE. This leaves the pilot to focus more on elevator coupling and rudder control for altitude. It's basically my concept of a pseudo fly by wire system. But again, the jet can still snap if your not careful. Some models more than others.
Seems easier to just learn to use the rudder instead of learning to fly using a crutch. I'm not a fan of gyros, they are training wheels that people become addicted to and afraidto fly without because they never really learned to completely fly using their own abilities.
@@shelbyseelbach9568 Shelby, I agree with you but I wouldn't blanket it so widely. Gyros simply have their place and should be used wisely. Stabilization on a plane like this can be great, but gyro I believe would have little to no place besides a last ditch save. As far as I know a gyro is for self leveling or maintaining an angle say after the controls are released. Stabilization is through accelerometers and only correct momentarily. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
@@JoshWeaverRC nope, that's pretty much it. The problem i have with them is they are training wheels used to get people "flying" quickly. They then become a crutch that hides the fact that you never really learned to fly without your training wheels, and people think they can never fly without one. I absolutely hate the fact that horizon pimps the safe system on every damn plane they sell. So people end up with a bunch of planes that they never really learn to fly without the training wheels. If i come watch you fly, i want to see your piloting skills, not the piloting skills of the hardware you are using as a crutch. I don't like them at all. Start with a trainer and learn to fly, you will find you don't need a gyro to fly AT ALL. AT ALL. Not a fan.
@@shelbyseelbach9568 If you can get the very agreeable message through to people that they can fly a trainer without SAFE then yeah all good. SAFE gets people crashing just as quick as 'flying.'
