  • UPDATED PLEASE READ! Only the old injection is painful which is still available too.
If you haven’t heard yet,the Humira Pen has UPDATED and is no longer painful at all!
It only took them 7 years! Thanks Humira! This does still show you how to use it though and now that it’s not even a fraction as painful id keep it in about 5 seconds longer now, just to be sure you’re getting the full benefits!
The actual needle stick is totally normal like any other shot but the fact the injection no longer burns like a napalm flame to the face is great!
Please be at ease now if you need to start this injection.
Thank you guys so much for your time!
Please read!Humira (Adalimumab) Pen. Extremely painful! unfortunately for me effective. After watching other videos some have negative effects from Humira. Ive been on Humira for over a year ,the only negative anything that ive experienced was a narly bruise at the injection site a couple times. all other drugs i took prior to Humira either didnt work or caused terrible side effects, like rash, acne, cysts,Cateracts & made me sick. I started Humira because i had been on Prednisone 20mg-60mg and was getting very ill from this steroid anti inflammatory.Prednisone is extremely bad for the vascular system& systemically. the oint of Humira for me is that it is a strong non steroid anti inflammatory. Important !!Info about Drugs like Humira: You need to be well monitored by your physicians, people that have positive results from the injection are frequently tested for TB, do not have STDs like Hep or active HPVor HIV. If uou have these or are sick,Taking meds that lower the immune system will not help and have or can make things worse. Im very close w all my doctors and go to and keep all my apt and do regular testing. If you're not insured or are unable to do these things I would consider that before starting Humira or any Med like this. Nomatter what any troll comments, the injection is extremely painful! not the needle prick but the medication itself causes 10-15 sec of pain even while on the best pain meds ,no escaping it! Question & comment or just leave your story for others as to why you use Humira.Take care Humira users and I wish you the best!

Would you say it hurts more then the BULLET Ant? They say it's bite is so painful like pinching red hot plirers twisting and holding for 5 Hours. I think it's the sting I don't know for sertain if it's the bite or sting look it up and find out.

I've always iced the area of injection first to minimize the burning feeling, helps a lot

Thanks for video! I did my stomach for the first time. Oh Ahhh!!! I wish I watched your video before I started moving around after...the pain. Great tip! I also found that icing site before is good too.

everyone is different, I'm not new to injections/needles/I.V's and this thing HURT LIKE HELL. I am no wuss...if you don't have pain KUDDOS to you and I wish i could say the same, but this felt like 5 wasps stinging me at once... it sucked. Everyone has their own level of pain, I thought mine was higher but seriously after doing this pen, I refuse to do it again. If it's burning like hell just going in what the hell is it doing once in. I'm with him on this one.

Thanks for the video! First time starting Humira, was previously injecting Cimzia pre filled needles. Let me tell you Cimzia is no where near as painful as Humira.

We really do need to sit a minute and chill. For me, not because stretching it will hurt, but I just need to calm down a bit before I get up to dispose of it. :3 Else, I will have such weak knees. I just injected myself in the thigh, and for some reason, it hurts more in my thighs than in my stomach. Stomach doesn't hurt as much for me.

Have you tried icing the injection spot before and after? I find it helps. So you find the stomach to be the least painful spot? I've only done my thigh, and for some reason my right thigh hurts less than my left. I'm going to try my stomach tonight. Good luck with everything!

Started Humira yesterday. Had to take 4 pens. My doctor told me to do 2 in my abdomen and one in each thigh. i was unprepared for the first injection and was surprised how much it hurt, Unfortunately all of the medication ended up on the floor as I didn't hold it in place long enough. the next 3 pens i injected into my thighs and had much better luck. I found it was not so bad in my legs. I have to take 2 more injections in 2 weeks and then one every other week. I will try leaving out to get to room temp next time. Just hope it works.

I once had an ordinary syringe injection with another drug added into the syringe to lessen the pain and sting, I think it was a non-Humira injection.

I've been taking humira for 3 months now,and I cringe when the days get closer for my next shot and I'm pretty tolerant to pain so this shot really hurts

After a few weeks methotrexate caused me to have skin issues and pain in the upper torso. The good thing was because of this I had a scan done and they found a tumor on my thyroid. Take care, good luck!

I was on Humira ( check out my vid) And I hesitated EVERYTIME before needing to do my injection.. Now you can call me a whimp or whatever you want. I have a very high pain tolerance due to all the stuff I have been through the last 6 years. But as for Humira I found it very uncomfortable and it stung like you wouldn't believe. I did mine on the top part of my leg instead of my stomach. Everyone handles pain different. But ANYONE that has/is on Humira know after that click the pain that comes :(

It is SO painful, I'm glad it didn't work for me. I had to do it in my thigh because of all the scar tissue in my abdomen. I switched to Methotrexate injections, less painful-worse side effects.

I agree with mashelle S its not that bad for gosh sakes if you are in pain from this disease then this pain for a few secs is so worth it. If you leave it out of the fridge for 2 hours first its easier.

Ask Your Physician for the new Humira pen!
It’s identical as to how you use it and the pen and needle itself is the same but it’s now pain free w no acid in it and it’s amazing!

I AM! That new pen is AMAZING! I barely feel it. I sing 1, 2, 3 o'clock rock and watch the yellow marker on the pen drop til it stops.

It's most likely the PH of the pre-mixed injection. I took Enbrel for 15 years and Always made sure to get the non-mixed package (ie. needle with saline, Bottle of Enbrel Powder) & I mixed them. If I got the PRE-mixed Enbrel "fancy pen" it would burn like HELL!! I Hope that helps! I just started Humira and not too painful 4me. Good Luck!

Nice video I give you and ANYONE credit that needs to do this every two weeks. You dread the day it comes. I found my legs were sore for a day or two after having it. And if the pen just misclicks a bit you end up with swelling and brusing that HURTS!!!! So you that have said wimp and so on. Everyone has a different pain tolerance but it hurts. Not the actual needle penetrating but the medication that goes in. Its hot and burns/stings. IT SUCKS!!

I was on humira for a while it didn't hurt at all compared to cimzia and I found doing it on the back of my arms was a lot easier than my stomach or my thighs that way I didn't have to watch plus if you ice the site for 20 min and leave it out of the fridge it's fine if you ever get switched to cimzia...which I doubt because it hurts even more and you have to push a syringe and watch the needle go in

@ Mashelle S you're using a totally diff form of Humira sweetie, direct injection is completely diff. Don't you feel stupid....genius

the pens are all the doctors are giving now. I asked about the other way where you can slowly put the needle in and inject the medicine more slowly, so that it does not hurt as bad, and I was told they no longer prescribe it that way. I use my thighs because i can take that pain a lot more.

Go to the Humira website, and call them that way if it's your doctor saying patients aren't given a choice, and they should be able to switch it for you.
