- Most recommend using cement board under counter top tile installations. Because of the advancements in grout and the fact that this is a very low use area, I probably could have gotten by without it. I really struggled editing this video down to its current size and some things may have been skipped over. So if you have any questions, please ask.
thank you for sharing and thanks for all of the tips you learned along the way!
Isn't being a maker fun? TY for this video - was unsure if the criss-cross was supposed to be up or down.
Latest video on my mosaic vanity project.
Waw this is a ancient Roman bath style!!!!!!!!!!

I'm curious . . . why not use a construction adhesive like Liquid Nails to attach the HardieBacker to the plywood? Thanks!
You know what . . . that sounds like a good idea; however, the next time I think I'll apply the tile directly to the plywood . . . that is if there is a next time.
Thanks, Ron. After watching a few more videos, it looks like you're on to it. they were all using thin set to put HardieBacker (and WonderBoard as well) on to a plywood substrate. Thanks for getting back to me. I enjoyed your video.
Thin set goes on evenly and provides a solid backing with no voids for the cement board and then the tile. Voids can lead to cracked tile because downward pressure , such as a dropped jar, can make it flex and crack. Learned this the hard way.
