- A tour of Tinos Island, Greece
Tinos Island is not somewhere that attracts the mass tourism that some of its Cyclades neighbours experience. However, it was recently highlighted by the Greek government to showcase the smaller islands in an effort to manage the challenges of over-tourism. So now is the perfect time to visit, & avoid the crowds even at peak times!
Tinos is just a 30-minute ferry ride from Mykonos. The best thing to do on Tinos is explore some of the villages, either on a bus tour or using your own transport. I took a bus tour, which as you can see for €15 for the day, was a bargain! Just pick it up from the main bus station at the port from 11am.
Join me on the tour as I discover the background to Tinos’ claim to fame as one of the key pilgrimage sites in Greece. We visit the monastery, the villages of Volax, Pyrgos & Panormos. Where else can you meet an over-friendly pelican & wait at a marble bus stop?

Hi Sue, We will be visiting Tinos this year and loved your video. You mentioned that you got the bus, for a tour of the island at the bus station. We're staying about a 15 min walk from there, My questions are -
How did you find out about the bus? What's the tour bus called? How did you book your ticket. We're statying for 3 nights so would love to see a bit more of the island without having to drive. Many thanks Annmarie
Hi Annmarie & glad you loved the video! Thank you. We heard about the bus tour from a comment somewhere, or maybe a blog? Anyway, the bus goes from the bus station in Tinos Town. I believe it leaves at around 11am & it is only aroun €15 if my memory serves me well for the day. It is the best €15 you will spend on your entire trip! It is not with a tour company but you can just buy tickets from the bus station counter along the parade of shops by the bus station. We just walked in early that morning & booked for the day. It is a great way as you can see to see what the island has to offer. I hope that gives you all the info you need. And if you do go on the tour, please come back here & comment on how it was. Enjoy Tinos, it's beautiful & I'm very jealous!
@@SueWhereWhyWhat was it one bus that waited for you at each stop, or a scheduled route where buses followed each other, say after 1/2 hour etc
It is literally a tour but done from the main bus station. There is only one bus a day so my advise is to go earlier to book your tickets. There is a very knowledgable guide who took us to each of the locations, talked to us about each of them & then left us a few minutes to explore ourselves before we moved on again. I hope that helps.
Hello Sue!!! We are going to Tinos on the first week of September. Should we rent a car at the island?? Thank you!!
Enjoy! Such a gorgeous island! I would recommend the bus tour to start with, then you can decide where you would like to go back to in a car. If you have more time than we did, a car would definitely be an advantage
I live in Tinos and so many of your facts are wrong!
Subscribed, she’s gorgeous looking, nice body and very interesting.
Thank you
