    I always loved watching the Caribou and the Buffalo perform. I'm a USAF vet, and have had the pleasure of seeing some interesting things. 👍 Thank you for sharing.

    Yes, Awesome. I live not too far from the airport and I can always tell when the Buffalo is in town by its very distinct engines. I have several videos of this aircraft at Qualicum. 😎👍

    I have 10,000 hours in a Dash8. Basically an updated Buf. Great planes. NEVER felt unsafe flying it. Never. If you knew what you were doing, it was capable of amazing short-field performance. KDCA Washington NATIONAL, you could land on 15 and make Kilo. You could land on 3 and make Delta (the one right before the intersection of 1. That one you had to be light, but it could be done.

    • @trooperdgb9722
      @trooperdgb9722 3 года назад

      Confused. The Dash 8 was developed from the Dash 7 (and did not share its STOL performance as a design feature- although as you said - "If you knew what you were doing" which always makes sense...) and the Dash 7 was said to be very much a larger 4 engined Twin Otter... The Buffalo was developed from the Caribou and there doesn't seem to be ANY connection to the Dash 8 other than both being twin turboprop DHC aircraft..... ??? So...an updated Buffalo? In what way?

    • @hud86
      @hud86 3 года назад +2

      The -6 could land in 500 feet with a light headwind. In flight Beta is key, though I wouldn't know because I never tried it ;)

    • @HuckThis1971
      @HuckThis1971 3 года назад

      @@trooperdgb9722 wing is similar but not the same. Dash 8 is still a stol plane. Reason is cruise speed. High lift = more drag. That puts a toll on your cruise speed and fuel consumption.
