I’m having a issue with one of my females. She is about 50g and has laid two pairs of duds all ready, but when I introduce a male to her she threatens to drop her tail. I really really don’t want that to happen. What should I do.
Hey! I have a juvenile female I believe she’s around 17-20 g at what point should I introduce the laybox cus females will still lay even if they are housed without males? And if so how often do they lay infertile eggs when the females become adults ?
Great video and thank you. Do you have any advice on reputable breeders? I dont know where to buy them, or how I can get their lineage? Do you have any tips or advice? You seem extremely knowledgeable on them.
@@reptiliangarden Thank you! When you breed them, and say you sell one, is it standard to have a little sheet made up or printed out, that is their lineage? Is that even a thing for the gecko world? I wondered how people know exactly what morph, or sub species or if they just gotta trust the word of the breeder?
Hey i just started watching in the past few weeks and i love your videos! Can i ask you though where did you get those plastic bins that you use for breeding? They look perfect in size and everything!
thanks for the amazing video, once again! but i have a question: what if one of my females won't take insects? i have 3 pairs, and she's the only gecko out of my 6 adults and 2 juveniles that won't take them. almost 100% of her diet is insect-mix Pangea, just so i make sure she's getting at least some protein. any advice?! i'm struggling :(
I have a male and female living in separate enclosures since 2009. My female crested gecko is housed in a Zoo Med 18x18x24 enclosure. Can i still breed them or are they too old?
Great video! You definitely made me feel confident if I ever decided to breed my crestie. I have always heard 50grams before breeding? I personally agree the bigger the better for sexual maturity🥰 I have also seen males having a prolapse issues after breeding 😔 any advice on how to avoid this?
wow, great video! i’m hopefully breeding mine soon and this was so incredibly helpful! how much do yours go for, it depends on the “eyelashes” and the morphs, correct? thanks so much!
i have used hatchrite kept it moist etc etc but have had 12 eggs die after around 40 days -.- i did the exact same thing i did last year and they all hatched perfect only difference is i have a new male can you tell me why they all die :'(
Hi, ours just layed 2 eggs but we're flattened. We've only got one vivarium but a mating pair. I don't think we were given enough info. Are they ok to live together or do I have to get another vivarium? We'd love to breed them but need to ensure we're doing the right thing.
Autumn Fall Maybe try different kinds. Sometimes they are picky and only want to eat them in privacy at night when you aren’t around. Another trick would be to put Pangea on your insect. It might get her more interested in them and see them as a food source!
Reptilian Garden thank you! i’ll try this and see if this works. she was paired with a male and they bred 3 times already (new to breeding and new breeders, not proven but hopefully they are) and i think this video was extremely helpful. thank you so much. :)
I knew mine were breeding when I saw a baby in the terrarium... I have six now but separated them for now. One thing about having two females and one male that would concern me is not knowing who the mom is for sure for pairing later.
I'll never breed my geckos but it's interesting to know anyway. I have 2 female crested + 1 female gargoyle. I also got a new baby crested I have no idea gender yet
Hello you said the one that has no pattern when fired up he looks grey what were his parents I found one that was not a axantic it just was light grey which is so awesome look
Mike Domer I gently wipe them off with a paper towel before I incubate them. I’ve heard leftover dirt can cause them to mold, so I take extra precautions. 😅
I have a question. I am going to be breeding my male crested gecko with a friends female. I currently have my male in an 18x18x18 enclosure and the female is in a 12x12x18 so we were planning on breeding in my enclosure because it’s bigger and I don’t want to put them in a smaller one. But you were saying to put the female in the tank and let her get comfortable and then add in the male afterwards. However, my male is in the bigger tank so I’m not sure how I would do this? Would I affect anything if I put in the female after the male?
Great video thank you one question I haven’t seen anyone talk about measuring the temp and humidity in plastic tubs do you need to or should you just keep it moist
Steve Vazquez Thank you! You should still measure the temperature and humidity in a tub. You don’t want it to be consistently moist, because it will cause mold and bacteria to grow. You’ll want a dry period during the day to keep everything healthy. A tub I’ll naturally lock in more humidity for a longer time which helps.
Can you breed different morphs of geckos? For example i have a flame crested gecko, would i be able to breed her with say a harlequinn or a dalmation or pinstripe?
Gabe LaPlante Crested Gecko genetics are crazy! You never know what you’ll end up with and a lot of the babies will end up being completely different morphs!
A bit late but.... I have a Male crested gecko and I’ve just bought a 45x45x90 tank and it’s huge! So I was thinking to get another crestie but as you said males may fight. But getting a female means I’ll most likely end up with eggs which I don’t think I really want as Idk if I’ll even be able to find homes for babies?! Especially if it’s on a regular basis. Is there anyway I can avoid any of these? So maybe get a female crestie from a breeder that doesn’t lay eggs as I’ve seen a few breeders selling females that haven’t bred. maybe try a Male which I don’t think I will do as I don’t want them to get injured. It’s just a big tank and I think it would be good to get another as I have the space? I just don’t know 😂
Do I have to have a thermometer/hydrometer on the eggs? I’m still in the process of finding a female! Out of my 6 cresties 4 are definite males and the 2 babies are just to small to tell ;( I’m trying to find a good lineage female! My first crestie ever is almost to breeding weight for a male! He’s around 34g’s! I raised him and all my others from about 3 grams all the way up!
Thank you for making this video I am getting my Male crested gecko from my preferred breeder this weekend and I won't be breeding for a while but I do plan to breed at some point and I had been having a lot of questions about the process and everything which your video definitely helped clear up :)
My female crested gecko was on a Pangea repashy diet when I got her from an expo she is weighing at 35 grams currently at 2 years old. But she will not eat anything aside from the Pangea or repashy diets. Would grub pie more frequently suffice? Or should I keep trying to offer insects?
Echo The Gecko A couple of weeks to make sure the job gets done 😅 it’s hard to tell sometimes though. It’s always a guessing game and if the female seems stressed, I remove the male

No males can be kept together as long as no females are present
That was interesting. When you remove the male, how long usually until the female lays the eggs? You don't incubate?

Do crested geckos need a male to make the egg fertile or they reproduce asexually ?

Should I put my wonky egg into a sauce container that is small so it doesn’t affect the other eggs by the way the container has two tiny holes
By keeping them together when they're young, does that include males together, or just females together?
