Thank you for all the positive comments, I didn’t expect to get this much reaction from this video and it means a lot to me. ❤️ I also didn’t realize how many of you are near my age! ☺️

@A Evans Yep; and the place is a 2-min walk from my house, too, and can see the place out my bedroom window.
I love the residents there to pieces, and it's definitely my calling. I don't even wanna leave at the end of my 8-hr shifts; doesn't even feel like work to me, basically.
There's this constant positive feedback loop between me & the people there; both parties truly care for & appreciate one another.

I can relate to that. I just turned 28, and I haven't finished my degree yet. People are like asking me a lot until the point I avoid to meet people to not get asked about it. I didn't have a career too. It's kind of depressing to me bcs my friends already have a successful career and even got their master degree. Where here I'm still struggling to finish my studies. Many of my friends already married and has kids. Where here I'm didn't even think about it. Didn't even have a crush on someone
I was in a really depressed mode, thinking why I'm like this, why's life so hard, why I'm weird, until I found out about mbti and learn more about my personalities.
    It help quite a bit.
    But I'm adjusting in life.
You're right about thinking more serious in life. Investing and all that, I'm thinking about that too now. But somehow I don't know where to start. It's hard for me to get a 9-5 job.
Learning about mbti, especially my type (infp) really help me accept my self, and finally accepting my self to go my own pace, because I can't force things, but it doesn't mean I'm not giving it enough effort.. I hope people understand

I'm INFP in my forties and still have similar struggles that you talked in this video. I discovered my personality type at 38. I wish that I have that discovery early in my life and save me some struggles. I was traumatized when I get 30s but now I wish I had that age. But I learned that you can have career, marriage and other responsibilities and milestones of adulthood but we can still have fun like a teen or/and child. So don't worry if society pressure you to get those milestones. Do you own thing with God's guidance and wisdom. Hope that this post help you on something. Blessings. 🙂

As an INFP, the worst day of my life... was my 30th birthday. I didn't get out of bed. What ive realized is, i was being dramatic. You seem so much younger, like if you think your beauty is fading... you are mistaken. This is the best time of my life, i bought a house at 33, by myself. I have worked on my mental health to the point, i am most people's role model. I guess what i am trying to say, i can relate to everything you have said. You sound so bummed about turning 30, you shouldn't be. in my opinion as a very stereotypical infp, you just seem to grow less neurotic about life as you age. Try more things, in turn you grow so much more. Embrace it. Happy Birthday. You are one of my favorite youtubers. The best is yet to come. Believe that!

I'm turning 30 in less than a month. 90's kids ftw!
Btw, I totally relate to you saying you feel about 22 in some ways. I guess some of us INFPs are just slow to mature. Feels good knowing I'm not the only one. I haven't really started my life yet, and like you, I was still in college until recently and in some ways I still feel young and inexperienced, and then I look in the mirror and realize I'm already almost 30. My peers are getting married and entering a more stable period in life and I wish I was doing the same. It feels surreal sometimes. I need to get my shit together, and I also have this real fear of being homeless someday, so that's a decent motivator. Lol

  • @Witchofbarkleywoods
    @Witchofbarkleywoods 4 года назад +12

I'm a INFP turning 30 in a few months and you talk exactly like I talked to myself a couple of years ago. Like, exactly. It got better for me, this feeling of diffuse helplessness, and also the feeling I would never be fully able to function in society enough to create a stable financial situation. Still struggle with some aspects of being "functional", but after that sinking feeling of "oh shit, I'm old and I wasted my youth reading obscure Wikipedia articles and daydreaming about being someone else" passed away, I got into a more practical mentality. I also begun to focus on finding little pleasures on unpleasant things... for example, you mentioned you don't think you can do a 9 to 5, and I used to think the same thing. Then I sat and thought about the alternatives, which all seem to involve some sort of entrepreneurship, and I realized this would be worse. So I decided to find the things I liked about the 9 to 5. I liked walking to and from my workplace because it was a sort of alone time. I liked when I could cross an item of my to do list. I liked observing the casual office drama like a type of soap opera. So I walked every chance I got and broke my to do lists into as many items as possible and begun to narrate the office drama in my head like a cheap paper back (it helped with feeling detached from it too, when it got overwhelming).
So now life feels not only tolerable but I feel like I can give myself a little more credit that I'll figure it out how to not be homeless when I'm seventy. Maybe you'll get into this phase too, possibly sooner then you would think.

  • @winterbird4447
    @winterbird4447 4 года назад +11

Look at it this way: The first 18 years you were in school not being an adult with real freedom to choose your own way as much. So as a 30 year old you have actually only lived 12 years of your adult life with real freedom to figure things out.
And you actually want to figure things out it seems...i dont know if you know this, but many people only pretend...and go through life with the blinders on.
Say you live until you are 80. Only in 12 of them so far have you been a free thinking adult responsible for your own adult choices. And that expectation/pressure hanging over you. So you have 50 years left. Meaning you have only lived 1/5 of your adult life. That’s only 20%.
Keep on trying and you will figure it out eventually. Just stay true to those values/feelings of yours instead of being too plan specific :)
Point is when it comes to being an adult, you are basically still an infant...So don’t be too hard on yourself! Try to think of all the good things yet to experience as well to balance out the fears. Maybe you will be homeless...But it is because you are an elderly travelling artist or something or because you sold your house and spend the money on travelling the world...
Thank you for the ‘90s memories by the way. I am also nostalgic about those years :)
    Good wishes from an ENFP.

    We’re in the same boat
I wish I could give you a hug
As INFPs time is our greatest enemy
One of the hardest things for me is being present
I’ve spent so much time in my own head I feel like I’m trapped in my body
So now I question every move I make before I make it
    And honestly it’s depressing
I often wish I was someone else
I have a hard time believing in myself
    But enough about me
I hope everything in your life is well

  • @farrex0
    @farrex0 4 года назад +18

As an ENTP, this might sound as our infamous blunt honesty but I swear it is with good intentions. You should strive to plan for your future as best as you can while you live in the moment with no worries at all. Worrying about your future when you can't do much about it, will only do you harm. Learn to worry only in the moments you can actually do something, and relax when you dont.
Lets suppose, for example, that the worse case scenario comes true and the fear of having no home becomes a reality, when that happens you would have wished you had enjoyed your time when you had one. And if that fear never comes true, you would have wished you had enjoyed your younger days, because you spent them worrying so much about the future.
You are already in a great path, you got your Roth IRA and you are looking into the stock market, that by itself puts you above most people, Most people, sadly, dont look for their future, they do not invest and even worse they do not even save their money.
I just turned 28 two days ago, and the way I see it, if you play your cards right it could be the best times of your life. The 30s it is when you are still pretty young, your body functions rather well and you have freedom to chose to be whatever you want to, also you get to have enough money to build your life, and get to plan long term with your significant other. So good luck on your next chapter of this comedy drama called life.

We live in a world, in a culture that's become too competitive so the emphasis has been to be the BEST PERSON, the most successful person IN COMPARISON TO THE REST. But guess what. That old world and the culture of ultracompetitivess, it's DYING and is slowly being replaced by a new one where the emphasis is unity, cooperation and unconditional love for both self and others. We're now opening to a world where we don't need to compare ourself to another because we're all UNIQUE from each other (even twins are different from one another). We now opening a new world where we understand that while we are uniquely different from each other, we are also the same, and that the only way for us to move forward and survive is not to be egotistical-narcissistic and regard the other as our enemy or our competitor. This is part of the Unity Consciousness we're all moving into.
It's okay if you're feeling lost -- you were programmed and raised in the ways and ideas of the old world, the world that is currently disintegrating. But TRUST your Intuition. Be patient and go within yourself. Trust your inner knowing because one way or another, it will tell you, "let go of your previous assumptions about winning, succeeding and getting ahead or surviving in life." Let go of the past and Embrace the changes and the changing present. Trust and surrender. It's okay. It will all be okay.

Wow, beautifully written. I think it's kind of interesting thinking about how the times change in regard to which values matter. For example we had a period in Denmark called 'Romantikken' (or the romance in English) where things such as art, poems and literature as well as the beauty of humanity were valued the most. Then the times changed and now it's all about efficiency and economics :(

Hey! I'm also an INFP and I could relate to you a lot. I cried watching your video at times, because this constant feeling of not knowing what to do in life is so tiring. I also don't have a career yet, nor a relationship. A few years back I fell in love with a younger guy and because my soul is also like 22 and because I also look much younger than my age, I always felt just the same age as him and he would feel the same. I was truly progressing in life in terms of education and career. During my time with him, I was more happy than ever before in my life. I guess because he was probably an ENFJ, a Giver. A few months in he broke my heart and almost three years later I still have not really been able to recover from it. Life feels repetitive now, like I'm living the same year over and over again. Like you, I also don't really have a plan for the upcoming years. I want to excel my career but I have no idea how to. I've been receiving rejections from companies and universities, convincing my self-doubting self more and more that I'm a good-for-nothing. I also want to get married over the next few years, but it just feels so surreal that this will ever happen to me. One of the blessings yet burdens of an INFP is that we are so loyal to the person we fall in love with. Like, I literally do not know if I ever will be able to fall for someone again, and that sucks because as an INFP we feel purposeful when we are able to give our love to someone. I know that that's what I'm best at basically, and not being able to do this is soul-crushing, if I can put it that way.
I pray that you are able to outdo the expectations you have for yourself in your 30s. I think you are a very sweet and likeable woman, it's a pity that we live in a world were being kind and sweet is just not enough. You have to have a career, an apartment etc. to be regarded a great person. People will value someone who's successful more than someone who is kind, caring and loving. Anyway, I wish you all the best and thank you so much for your honesty. I think honesty is another great trait of the INFP personality. There certainly are great things about our personality type that you won't find any other personality type. I am grateful for them.
I want to add that we have to not let our personality type define us. Like, we shouldn't think: "This is who I am, how I am, and there's nothing I can do to change this." I think, especially for our personality type this mindset can be dangerous. We are all unique human beings who are able to change themselves and we must always keep that in mind and not lose hope. We bloom more slowly, but it's important that we keep striving and believing that we too can change in the ways we want to change, everything is possible. On this note, I'm going to end this personal comment. Thank you for your video and all the best for your future!

Thank you for sharing❤️ I don’t know your age, but you sound so wise. I’m 40 now and can related to so much of how you feel. And I agree...it takes a lonnngggg time for us to get over hurt. Like we wish to wake up one day and everything be different, but from my experience it’s like 3 steps forward, 1step back constantly. But we progress nonetheless. We are so hard on ourselves and I totally agree with your comment that we can get stuck in thinking we cannot change. I hope you are doing great now.

Nothing wrong with feeling lost. We are all ever changing individuals and the priorities of yesterday aren't necessarily the priorities of today. I think taking some time to figure things out, what matters most and work towards those goals. We get discouraged easy but just keep at it in small increments and you will find where you're supposed to be!

It's fun. I turned 30 in 2009 , many years ago and I don't really feel any different now. I do remember all the 90s stuff , I was a teenager through most of it. BTW, 30 is not even close to middle age. IMO, middle age starts around 46 or so. I'm 41 and I don't even feel middle age yet, but maybe it's different for women folk.

Not in relationship either. So it would be fine. Am searching for myself..the real purpose of my life..so am not gonna settle down for things that doesn't suit me. And age doesn't matter anyway. "I was too busy being existential" is a common issue for us INFPs. 🙂 Thank you for you vulnerability. I am nearing 50, and still haven't figured everything out. A couple of years ago I quit teaching after 18 years because the environment was too politicized and toxic for me to take it anymore. I've been exploring more creative pursuits, trying to establish a stained glass business, work on my guitar skills, and have been dipping my toe into the idea of writing- I have a couple of book ideas that really want out. At the same time, I have family responsibilities that are important to me and require a balance of creativity and practicality. I am getting better at that balance, for sure. I hope you continue to experience positive growth on your life's journey.

Such an honest assessment of your feelings at this point in your life. I just hit 52 and I know plenty of 60+ year olds who no one, including themselves, would consider elderly. The average life expectancy of Egyptians was 30, so there's that. According to Vedic astrology you're just a floundering child until your Saturn matures at 42, I think I have that right. I never like the idea of the normal progress of life - finishing studies, getting a degree, get married, have kids, and all that. I wanted to experience life more. I even think sometimes that I don't want to get old, like i want my life to stop at age 40 max 🤣🤣
But yeah I dont know what im doing with my life right now, although i have a stable job and am a professional but it seems like I still want to do something else. But everytime i start something or enroll on a course, i cant seem to finish it 😂 Maybe its the INFP in me or i dont know.

But she’s an ISTJ and has her shit together at 14. 😂 at 40 I have been an RN for 17 years and have accomplished many things, but I still ALWAYS. focus on the things I haven’t accomplished. It’s just like that for us. I LOATHE 9-5 jobs, I work 30hrs a week and I still hate it because we need more time for our creative and playful side. I don’t mind being a nurse, but I want to do my own fulfilling thing on my time as well. We want our life to look like ours. We hate life’s boring minutiaes. And I believe INFPs lives are always about the journey and not the destination ❤️

I could relate to so much from what you mentioned. I didn’t know that birthday can become such a struggle for an INFP but now I know from my own experience and I will try to be prepared for it. The second I turned 26 two days ago I got the existential crisis and depression of my life - not that it would be something new to me, but all the anxieties and hopelessness of not having life figured out I normally feel hit me 100 times harder at this particular time. When I saw I am not the only INFP struggling with finding a job that would be THE job and it might take me so long if ever (I haven’t seen your video at that time yet) and I saw all the INFPs older than me being lost in life, it deepened my crisis even more. The life of an INFP feels to me like never ending searching for what would satisfy me but mostly I have no clue what it is or the joy doesn’t take long. I hate that this Helen Keller’s quote is so true to me: “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” Cause that means my life is “nothing at all” most of the time. What I am trying to do now is to lower my expectations on life so that I am able to find joy in my current reality and in the little things as much as I can and focus on learning, doing mundane stuff without questioning and serving people I love instead of being selfishly unhappy for no reason. I don’t want the pressure resulting from the dreaming of ideal life to harm my mental health and to put me in fear of aging and missing out. I want to live in the moment and actually enjoy it as it is. Sending you love ❤️

You are worried and anxious about the future -- and this is a VALID feeling.
But the future has yet to come so ultimately you need to LET GO of this anxiety and worrying about what has yet to happen.
You are anxious and worried about the future so you look back, perhaps ruminate about the past -- how you want, as you claimed here, to be "sheltered". You may not be saying it but you want so much to go back to "the way things were" when your family, your brother and parents did things FOR YOU. It's okay to think about the past, and what you're feeling right now is VALID.
But remember that you don't live in either the future nor the past; YOU LIVE IN THE PRESENT. Feelings and emotions are valid but just like anything that has life, they have beginnings AND ENDINGS. It's okay to feel anxious and worried about your future (thus the interest in stock markets). It's okay to reminisce and maybe ruminate about the past (thus the stories about dial up internet, beany babies, etc.). But the best thing to do NOW, IN THE PRESENT, is to sit and process those (temporary, fleeting) feelings and emotions about the future and about the past. Go deep within, be patient with yourself as you BEFRIEND these emotions that make you anxious about the future and reminiscent-ruminating about the past. BEFRIEND that part of you that is now anxious, worried, and sad-depressed. Take the time to sit and be friends with those emotions, get to know WHY they are arising, and then LET THEM GO. When you let them go, you will find peace. And as you learn to be more present, to be more grounded in the here and now, you will realize that the future will work itself out if you INVEST, not in stocks, but IN YOURSELF and in your Present.

Yep 90's kid here, turned 30 this year too. Had a great childhood, can't remember the age but even i still remember when i fractured my arm when a friend pushed me off my push bike. Ouch! When i was in my teens i was very worried for the future, worried that i wouldn't be able to hold down a job because of my ibs, social anxiety, depression, learning difficulties and also because of societies constant, rampant obsession with finding and requiring money to do things and if you can't then you basically don't deserve to live unless you can fit into societies narrow expectations of it's old and outdated imperialist-capitalist-conservative bubble. For example i wanted to learn game development, there was a course i could do but in order to do that, you first have to get a job to do it as it costs you and the amount they cost would be enough to make you homeless! But how to get a job?
When i started looking for work, it was right at the heart of the recession, there were hardly any jobs around and employers would pretty much only employ you if you had the experience. So what was an 18 year old who'd never worked before and with little college experience due to sickness supposed to do? The job center was mostly useless, i got a few jobs but none of them lasted. One of my work places, a sweet factory went up in flames (literally) and now the place looks like a bomb hit it so today, no one works there. The sweet factory, the job center and the college that set me up with it wanted me to work on call through an agency. Was impossible to sustain it because i had hardly any idea when i'd actually be working, i wasn't on a proper income salary either that i'd be safe in the knowledge i'd know i'd get every week.
So later i learned of the adult obsession with the getting people back into work culture of jobs, jobs, jobs creation. Throughout that time as i had spare time and i wasn't working as society kept screwing me and others over, i learned how the system worked thanks to people (just to name a few but there are more) like Peter Joseph of The Zeitgeist movement, Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows of The Venus Project and someone who i eventually became friends and project collaborator with later, Colin Turner of The Free World Charter. A charter document like a modern day magna carta inspired by the work of the previous two.
Colin is currently working on a goods and services sharing website project called 'Sharebay', it's essentially a walled garden where people can practice sharing with transaction recording technology, so every time you complete a share, the site keeps track of them as a way to build your reputation denoted by a public 'gave' and 'got' amount of times score on your profile along with honors for how many times someone has thanked you for something. You can look it up and you'll find it, it's the one with the hashtag logo. I'm on there too.
There are other ambitious projects people are working such as Perry Gruber of Copiosis which i find particularly interesting and worthy of note. It has a facebook group where people discuss it.
Were not sure if all these things will actually change the world but it's worth trying. ;)

Hello, I am an INFP type who just turned 30. Thanks for the video, I could relate to most of the feelings you had. I remember my childhood and early teens where I and my cousin would play outside, read comic books and watch cartoons on TV. And then role-playing them, drawing and creating my own superhero characters, writing plots and stories,...ah, it was pure bliss!
And then we fast forward to my current day state. Here I am, sitting at home after recently quitting a ‘9-to-Forever’ corporate job as I was burned out from stress and unfulfilling work. In my entire twenties, I was trying to follow a traditional path with ‘sensible’ academic degrees and corporate jobs. I was 26 when I first took the MBTI test and came to know that I was an INFP. (Well, I got INFJ at first with a slight preference of J over P. Then, I read the two type descriptions and Jungian functions and related more to the INFP. And I did get INFP in subsequent tests. Oh wait, why am I explaining so much? Damn, I just write too much. Happens every time. If only I expressed even half of all this while speaking).
Anyway, so the point here is that taking the MBTI and understanding that I am INFP gave me a hint why I was struggling with some of the aspects of my studies and job. I still continued for a few more years until I burned out and decided that I needed a break to figure out my long term path. So here I am, just like you, entering my 30s and feeling old/young at the same time and figuring out the path that leads to fulfilment and peace. I wish you all the best in figuring out yours too. More power to you!

Woah. You just kinda snuck a really concerning one in there nonchalantly. "I remember when my family was happy". I truly hope you can find the strength, patience, persistence and desire within yourself to pursue a resolution to that with them.
Also, I'm a little older than you but heavily relate to most of your points about timeline related stuff. My parents had a PC when I was born so I always remember having some kind of computer, but I also remember when dialup internet became a thing! And my frustration even to this day when the smaller 3.5" floppy disk became a thing... BECAUSE IT WASN'T FLOPPY!! I mean, I realize that the term is still referring to the floppy magnetic disk inside the hard outer shell, but the 5.25" ones were floppy through and through! :D

I’m an INFJ, but I have those exact same thoughts and feelings on getting older. I still have a hard time accepting how much our world has changed because of the technology. It dehumanized so many aspects of our lives. I think we are meant to seek the ultimate meaning of life in our relationships/connections versus our careers/jobs, yet our society has those priorities flipped (in regards to adding meaning and value to our lives). I often feel behind because I am not fulfilling everybody else’s expectation of what kind of a life a person who is about to approach 30 should have at that point, but at the same time I think I would be miserable if I did manage to get to that point where people would think of me as an accomplishmed young adult (according to their standards). It’s hard to create your own path that is always questioned by others, but I’d rather be open to a constant change in my life than settle for something that would slowly kill all the joy within my soul.

    writing drawing movies videos music.
anything that touch and heal is an art.
    2. To inspire, to record/express ourselves(our life) and to heal ourselves(our stories can also heal), to touch amd to help.
    infp's core values
    3. Compare with yourself, not others.
    4. Dont wait for opportunities/time/perfect moment, they may never come.
    5. Develop tiny productive and healthy habits, when you develop them, you dont have time for the "bad" one.
    6. Explore different activities. Meet some good friends who care you/can celebrate your successes/challenge you to become a better person/encourage you to follow your dreams/can see your potentials or talents.
    7. Know yourself. The earlier the better.
    8. When you know your callings and identities, help the one who r still struggling.
    9. When you have money, spend time with your family.
U may hate some of them, try to understand n forgive them. I forgive my father, he was a gambler. Love is a choice, a decision. Dont let hatred destroy u.
