There are more shortcuts that can seriously speed up a walkthrough. If you hold a right+up when level 8 is just starting (8:42 at this video), you will get into the top of wall. Walking right direction almost above the top edge of the screen you will fall later into small room with water and elevator (above the location at 9:19). The same trick is at level 13 (17:48), if you do this, you will skip the entire pipe and quickly walk directly to the end collecting diamonds as a bonus. In addition you might stack all the crates you see at the beginning of level 11 at 14:02 just below the code sorcerer and immediately climb to the clouds, this should also save a lot of time.
Took me long time to even search this game. The first computer game I ever played when I was like 6 or 7. My dad bought pc for work and for some reason this game came with it. We are in S Korea and I don't think game was popular in Korea. It was scary to me with dark themes and so hard to pass any level.

hehe, the fact that there is not invincible frames when you get hit, is indeed frustrating, specially with the flies/bees (but the throwing bottle bums right on the end of the first stage combined with the dogs is madness to start) :) but the playability of the PC version is better than the amiga version (or compared to the original 'moktar') IMO

I see, athough this costs a life, I think it works great for the speedrun! And the most prominent use of this trick is at 15:40, that's why I was so startled that you didn't pick the carpet: I thought there was no way to pass by those yoga instructors unless you've got a multi-use weapon!!!

WEIRD!, so when titus went to release the game outside france they needed a new character since lagaf isnt know outside france... and then... they used their maskot!!! and the rest is history!
Hm, nice work, but I believe it should be possible to hold down the button to jump over to the right at the beginning of the Pipe Dream stage to basically bypass everything there. ToMarrakechAndBack's video of that level shows him doing that trick, beating the level in 35 seconds
yes! first time i played it... it was from the floppy and my HDD was 20mb on my 286 (12 mhz)... but it was not EGA/VGA (16 colors) it was CGA 4 colors (purple/cyan/white/black) :P
I used to play the French version of this game on Atari ST, that wasn't with Titus the fox but with a French TV animator, the music were a bit different too.

yeah while i was kid (8yo?) i couldnt pass level 9... but i found that level 8 secret with code to last stage.... so i ended that way it was not until i played it again when i was 16 -17 then i ended liking the game more than ever...
no, thats correct unless you played the CGA/EGA versions or maybe you did set your monitor/TV saturation to the roof.... the colors are like that because this game is 16 colors only! its has one of the best colors of all 16 color games
There is another nice improvement in the Amiga version you didn't mention.. In the Amiga version there is proper hardware scrolling of the screen.. not like the DOS version where it just tilts the frame forwards or upwards a bit, which is awkward, although one does get used to it.
The Amiga version was better, more colourful and most of all, better scrolling. The PC version was based on the Atari ST port, a system that was incapable of doing scrolling unless you did some clever programming.

Took me long time to even search this game. The first computer game I ever played when I was like 6 or 7. My dad bought pc for work and for some reason this game came with it. We are in S Korea and I don't think game was popular in Korea. It was scary to me with dark themes and so hard to pass any level.
Couldn't finish this game when I was teenager, but finally did when I was like 22 ,I'm 38 now lol. Best game ever!

this game ran on a 80-88 PC, 16 colors screen, 32 MB hard memory that looked like more to a nuclear central rather than a computer. Cool game.

And one more thing: Did you guess the passwords until able to play the maps separately? There's 65536 different password possibilities.
Do you know that you can skip the first part of level 8. If you jump just when the level begins. It works for the french version of the game.

This game is ... hard! I completed it a couple of times, long time ago. It was a lot of fun. You can still run it today with something like dosbox.

Amiga was the king of gaming computers. It was around this time the PCs were beginning to change things.

Apparently, it's a nightmare to program proper camera scrolling for DOS, which was a mayor highlight of the commander keen series back then.
