    Jason Silva - Unfortunately you've got your comment set to no reply, so I'll have to reply here. I'm not hilarious, I'm honest. If you watch my first review, I pull no punches about my experience with Neato products. I agree that Neato had some serious issues with their first product range. I ended up smashing my XV-21(?) in frustration and selling it on eBay for parts! So I understand where you're coming from! HOWEVER, yes Neato did send me a FREE pr job replacement, but I'm not sucking up to ANYONE. I waited 10 months before doing the review!! If I was sucking up, I would have smashed out a nice fluffy review a few weeks after getting the replacement. I wanted to make sure this unit wasn't going to do the same thing! So after 10months of testing, I did this review. The Signature Pro has been bullet proof! So based on MY experience, I believe they have improved their reliability. Obviously, you've got a dud. I'm VERY interested to get my hands on one of their more recent models and test the heck out of that too! If it works great, I'll say so. If it craps out and is faulty, I'll say so too! If Neato hadn't sent me a new model to review, there would be no additional review to be sour. I would have just left my previous one, which was VERY honest and accurate. Don't take your poor frustrations out on someone who hasn't had your poor experience, maybe contact Neato......Hope you get your unit working soon :)

    After 6 years with my Neat-O XVII, I replaced the batteries once. The right drive wheel became quite worn over the years causing it not to run or track properly and do almost circular patterns. I called Neat-O support and after some verification of ownership, they sent me two replacement drive wheels that took about 2 minutes to replace! They did not charge me for the replacements! What outstanding customer service and support! My wife and I love our Neat-O and it saves us from having to lug a vacuum downstairs or buying another one. It doesn't have to bump into things to navigate like that other vacuum does!
    If this one ever dies, we'll definitely get another Neat-O!!

    Great review, I have the BotVac and I am in love with it, I have a big house and it does it all in 1 charge, doesn't get stuck and it cleans great. So far been using it for around 3 months and not 1 problem yet. I keep mine always clean, after each cycle I empty the bin and also clean the brush by taking out the ball bearing and removing any long hair that has curled in there. I saw someone asking about the alarm for a full bin and the answer is yes, it does have an alarm to ask for the bin to be empty if it gets full.
    If you are looking for the best robot Vacuum cleaner out there, look no further... the Neato BotVac models are great.

    I own both a Roomba 772e and a Neato Botvac D85. I'm very happy with both. I use the Roomba in my apartment and the Neato in my office. Should I be forced to keep only one of them, I'll probably choose the Neato, but the Roomba is a really good product overall, too. I think that Neato navigation system is perfect for houses with many rooms or complex geometry, as it will leave nothing back, while the Roomba is ok if you have less rooms and basic geometry. With lighthouses (not usable with 772e) the Roomba can navigate all the rooms, too, but it will however leave something back. Either way, you cannot be really disappointed by any of these products. They'll give you a great help in keeping your house clean.

    Thanks! I've been using a low end robotic vacuum (VBot P3) that I bought for $85 in March 2015 and its worked great for my small house (no carpets) with pets but since I can't get replacement filters for it easily I am in the market to upgrade. Because of your review as well as my own research I've just ordered the Neato XV Signature Pro Pet & Allergy Robot Vacuum Cleaner from Amazon for $299.

    My wife, and I went to our friend'shouse yesterday, and they had a irobot {Roomba}. It was the 655 series. It was the first time we ever saw a vacuum cleaner that cleaned on it's own. We were ready to buy one, but I thought let me go on You Tube, and glad I did. I didn't know that there were other companies with robotics on the market. Now I don't know which one to choose? The Neato,looks good, and so I'll click on to the link provided and go from there. Thank you very much for your review!

    Hey, Ben! Just thought I'd check in again after 7 months! I've FINALLY bought a Neato (hooray for reduced prices)! I got a BotVac 85 via Amazon Japan (where I live). It will get here on Sunday. Can't wait for it to get here, and I'm getting it partially based on your reviews! In fact, when I was looking for reviews today, I went, "Wait a second! Where's Ben Blades videos," except that I couldn't remember your name. Hahaha! Glad I found you!

      +Ben Blades (Blades Reviews) No worries, mate! Glad to show a little "reviewer loyalty!" haha! Something I thought would interest you is that CNET did a review of the BotVac 85, and said it actually did BETTER than the 85 D-model. I'm anxious for it to get here. Granted, I wish I had done this sooner, because I have a lady-friend coming to spend the night on Saturday for a movie night, and this place needs some vacuuming pronto! hahaha! Cheers!

    I retract every bad word I said about my Neato! I learned how to use it better and now its keeping my house floors (no carpets) sparkling clean - running it every day. I do change the filter frequently and it does need cleaning regularly but - hey! - I've got a pack of animals so, there's that. The Neato has become an indispensable member of the family. I haven't named it yet....thats next.

    i have had a neato essential (basically a signature pro with djfferent brush and filter- but i changed them to match exactely thoss of signature pro). I bought it used and with no warranty. At first everything was ok. Then it began to move around in a stupid path, or to stop withouth a reason. At the end I do not know how it began to work as it is supposed to again. So now it works but I have spent so so much time in forums trying to find a solution testing it with programs found online and getting crazy.
    Fact is this: IF and WHEN it works, it is better than roomba. Reliability in newer neatos is better I have heard but still not at roomba levels.
    For suction power navigation shape...everything is better than the roomba bumping around. But if you want something you are SURE it works for many years flawless, take a roomba. Simpler and more stupid, but it works.

      No haven't got a new one yet. We still have the Roomba 560 and the Neato. I think if I had the spare cash, I would get a Room 980 I think. Room navigation and the Roomba has been bullet proof.

  • @Angus_Gibson

    Hey, Ben. Good to see you again! I'm curious. Does the Neato let you know if the dust bin needs emptying or anything like that?

    • @BenBlades
      @BenBlades  9 лет назад

      Angus Gibson Yes, I'm not sure how it figures that out, whether it's time or measures suction power, but yes, it will tell you to empty the bin. I run mine 4 times a week and try and empty it twice a week. Probably should do it more as it's always full....

    I've had my Roomba for nearly a year now and I absolutely love it. (Never owned a Neato).
    That said, I'd probably go for the Neato if I ever have to replace it simply because the Neato's AI seems to be smarter than that of my Roomba.

    Hi Ben - Thank your for your review. Iowned a Roomba several years ago. It worked ok, but not good enough for my wife. Plus it was really noisy so we didn't use it while we were at home. Is it easy to program the Neato to work several times per week? Have you noticed any battery degradation in the year you have been using the device?

    • @bladesvlogs4965
      @bladesvlogs4965 9 лет назад

      Hi, yes it's very easy to schedule. We schedule ours to run around 4 times a week. As for the battery, it does slowly deteriorate over time, however it's nothing that I would consider unsatisfactory.

    Ben, you said that Neato would vacuum pretty much a whole house at once. We have a split-level house which, in essence, is like a three story house. Do you think this would be a problem for Neato?
    Thanks.

    • @BenBlades
      @BenBlades  9 лет назад

      It won't go up or down stairs, but if you had ramps it would. Basically you would have to move it to each level. Once on the level it would do the whole thing. Basically it would treat each level as a separate house. Hope that helps ☺

    • @MsDropofrain
      @MsDropofrain 9 лет назад

      yeah, that's what I was thinking - treating each level separately. Now need to figure out how to stop it from falling down the stairs lol (no doors, open concept). Do we have to move its docking spot (?) to each level too or it does not matter? thank you for your quick response.

    • @BenBlades
      @BenBlades  9 лет назад

      +MsDropofrain It won't fall down stairs. It has drop off sensors, so if it detects a drop, it will turn or go along it like a wall. As for moving the dock, if there is enough battery, you can put it on a level, it will complete that level and return to it's original spot. However, if it goes flat, I think it will return to the spot and want charging. I'd test it so see if it could do a whole level in one go, as that would eliminate having to move the dock each time. Moving the dock would be a hassle. Happy to help :)

    Now a year later, is it still going strong? Also, how about your Fitbit Charge? I've got a terrible experience with those... the first unit I had started to peel off the rubber away from the casing and bubbles started to pop under the top rubber and the replacement unit they sent me had a dead battery (would last less than a day). I just tossed in the trash and gave up on them :/

    • @BenBlades
      @BenBlades  8 лет назад

      Hi, Yes it's still going well. Will probably need a new battery in the next few months as it now takes a couple of charge cycles to clean the whole house.
      As for the Fitbit Charge HR, it's great. I have seen a few people's that have come apart, but Fitbit replaced them straight away. I'd be looking to get them to send you another replacement. I like them so much I'm considering a Blaze, but my G-shock is my staple watch.

    Hi Ben, thanks for the video! I have a Neato XV-21 and it has a serious issue with the battery.When it was brand new it would do the entire house on one charge. After ~6 months it needed 2 charges and after ~9 months it would need 3 charges and would give up after that. After a full year it would charge for 3 hours to clean for 10 min. I contacted Neato and they said this is according to specs and that I need to replace the battery every 9-12 months. Considering the battery is about 10% of the price of a new unit (maybe even more with the new prices), I think this is not acceptable. All the other reviews usually check a new unit so everything works great. I was very happy when I saw you do a review on a 10m old unit. Do you know what is the replacement time of the battery on the new units?

    • @BenBlades
      @BenBlades  9 лет назад

      Boris Kozo My unit used to do the whole house on 1 charge, but now has to go back and recharge, but only for a very small section of the last room. I would expect that in the next 6 months I'll be up for some new batteries. As strange as it sounds, I find that having it run almost every day helps. If it sits for several days between runs, I feel like that damaged some of the other units I had.

    OK, as I said below I bought the Neato. I bought my Neato XV Pro Pet etc. only a couple of weeks ago (Novermber 26th) and its having "clear my path" errors without there being anything in its path. I have a small house with pets but no carpets. I cleaned it but still having this problem. I can't get in touch with anyone at Neato as they seem to be overwhelmed on the website. I wish I'd paid the extra money for a Roomba. My old P3 vbot is cleaning now that the Neato has basically died. I paid $85 for the vbot about a year ago and it keeps on ticking - can't get extra filters for it though.

    am thinking of buying a vaccum robot.. i have 2 choise Neato d80 and roomba 880.. i like neato because of its navigation system.. i like roomba because of its "less noisy" and her continuety.. and better life ... i heard that most neato die with one year.. but most rommba can workj till 10 years.. but am more obessed from neato.. i think its smarter.. i really dont know what to choose.. do you think the new D neato.. have new software with no bugs? and better battery ?

    • @BenBlades
      @BenBlades  9 лет назад

      Mahdi Farhat I understand your dilemma. I too think that overall the Roomba is a more reliable product, and so it should considering it's up to about it's 8th (guessing?) generation of product. My Roomba 560 has lasted about 5 years and only needed the battery and brush assembly replaced. Both of which were easy to locate on eBay.
      But, the Neato does provide a very appealing alternative, lower price point, can do an entire home, even if that home is large. This is something that I am yet to see the Roomba do - automatically. Based on my recent experience of the Signature Pro Series, I would SERIOUSLY consider one of the new D series. Much larger dust bin and I would assume overall upgraded parts. Please consider using my affiliate links (in the description) when purchasing your product :)

      +Reseiver Ohhhh that's a big call! The Roomba is still a solid unit. Can you expand on your fixing comment? I'd be interested to learn more, as I thought it was very difficult to get parts etc for the Neato?

    • @Reseiver
      @Reseiver 9 лет назад

      :) Yes i can. Neato XV series are build really bulky, there is plenty of space to manipulate parts (if you need to replace something - like spring hinges for neato wheels) or if you have to change some of motors or electric components on the circuit board - since it's not micro components (many of the parts if not complete than some of them can be bought online - ebay, aliekspress, robotshop and so on). And in many cases you can use alternative parts to make it run again. The only thing i hate about it is all those 1000 cheap quality screws :)
      Things i've done to my neato - replaced wheel motors, all of the capacitors, charging connection to the main board., i've made alternative cover for one of my batterys ( since neato broke the other one - on to how is a long story ).
      I guess it hasn't been as reliable as i would like it to be, but it gets the job done :)

    All they kept harping on about was if I had named the bloody thing. In the end I managed to fix it myself. Great machine but lousy support. I bought 2 more as spares or repairs from ebay and fixed them all. Gave one to my mum and kept one for upstairs.
    Would I recommend them ? - only if you accept that after the warranty has expired its either buy a new one or fix it yourself.
    Worth the money ? you can buy broken ones on ebay for $50, looks like neato support sucks in the states too.

      +3D_Printing Yep, that's pretty similar to my experience. Outside of warranty, you're on your own. If Neato really wanted to impress, they should extend their warranty to 3 years and international :)

      ***** If they had said we have a fixed fee for out of warranty repair I would still have gone for it out of ignorance, and thought what a good company - lol.

    reliability is under control? youre hilarious! you got a free unit because of pr.. ive got 3 units, 2 xv-11s and one botvac 80. one of the xv-11s has a constant battery issue 0009 error that i have to reset atleast once a week and thats with new batteries as well. the other one had to be replace because of the turret failing and never finding its dock. now i have a botvac 80 that spends 30 minutes circling and working on the same table and chairs going over the same spots NUMEROUS times. im sure if neato didnt send you a free replacement, your review would be sour... dont say something is good just to suck up to the company... ive had a rough time with this trash and you obviously have too. lets be realistic.

      +Gerald Lee Such a dumb comment, should be deleted :) I WISH my video's were sponsored! Unfortunately they're not. I pay for all the gear I review. In this particular instance, they did send me a unit to replace my old one that had died. And I waited about 10 months to do the review.Yeah......real sponsored.......so dumb.....
