Several years ago, when you were less sober, your bandsaw box videos changed my life. True story.
@@toolchuck Yep, those videos got me started in woodworking.
Loved your video. The box is beautiful and unique. I want to especially thank you for not having background banging, loud soundtrack that I find so distracting. You are perfect!
I died at the needle part 😂😂
Soon as he put the glue on the spoon. "Where is this going....?" I shortly died after so i wan't able to finish this com
I sure do love Bender of The Minions.
I am one of the ones who communicated an issue with tracking on the 10-306 in December 2019. They now have a new version, the 10-3061. From what I surmised from reading various posts on the net, the 10-305 has crowned wheels and the 10-306 has flat wheels, which interfered with the tracking of the thinner blades. I hope the 10-3061 has addressed this issue. I gave up and bought another Laguna 14 Twelve (I now have two. I hate switching blades). At least I had a good excuse!
ahhh, thanks Mike!
Okay, I laughed out loud and startled my husband at the needle/tourniquet part.
You are not alone!
I'm still laughing
Lol, I laughed so hard also
Just ordered your book earlier today and just saw this video after. Had I seen the video first with the glue on a spoon, the needle and the tourniquet I would've bought two books. Great video David, please keep them coming. Thanks.
hahaha! Thanks!
In my opinion, this is your best design ever. TIP: Use a wooden hand screw clamp on the end of the oval pieces, and place the clamp flat on the bandsaw table, when cutting off the front and back and the wood won't be drawn down harshly as you cut them. I use this technique when making Christmas ornaments from slices of tree branches. Keep up the great work!
I just want to say I'm really thankful for your content and I'm looking forward to hopefully picking up a bandsaw and making my first box soon!
I got my signed copy of the Kitchen Tools book earlier this week and it's awesome, a lot of great projects. Honestly, having a signed copy from one of my favorite youtubers, it's also a prized possession of mine in the shop
Oh man, thank you Anthony!
I have a 65 year old Craftsman bandsaw, but when my son was looking for one I recommended Rikon, and he bought the same model you have. He loves it.
Gorgeous!! Thanks for having us along in your ongoing experiments!
David, I was not surprised by the cord around the arm gag but I loved it.
Wow. 👏👏👏 This has got to be my favorite Make Something video. I was cracking up so hard my wife came over to watch. At about halfway I was thinking to myself "This is a piece of art. I hope I can own one of his pieces someday." And then you put it up for auction as a piece of art. Well done David. Well. Done.
Thank you Ben! Appreciate it!
I recently got your bandsaw box book and made my first box! Your box joint jig got me into woodworking, and this book has got me into another part of this hobby! Thanks bro!
That’s awesome!! Thank you!!
Love the box and love the mural David!!
And I just found a stack of bandsaw box blanks I glued up back when your book came out. Guess I should use them up.
What a great video. Full of helpful hints and a new way to make a BSB. This is my first visit to your and am proud to meet the author of the bandsaw book I purchased a few weeks ago.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that texture on the walnut! Can't wait to try that technique.
Your videos are as much a work of art as the pieces you build in them.
This means everything to me! Thank you!
So, I looked away right when you said that you were going to bring your little bandsaw to the workbench... the line right after "I"m going to use a little bit of spray adhesive to attach this" ... I was hoping I'd look back and you were using spray adhesive to attach the bandsaw to your bench. :-D
I just made my first bandsaw box this week based on one of your designs. It's an Omaha, but it's just 2 inches tall. My wife loved it!
I really dig that box. I've not seen one like that before and really, really like it.
Funniest video yet! I lost it when you were wrapping up your arm with the cord. And your editor is hilarious!
Oh... nice box, too.
Just got my kitchen tools and bandsaw box book the other day. Love it. I’ve been looking for something like it for a while. Thanks.
Right on, thank you!
Wonderful work. A very fascinating sight.
Your blade advice changed my life. Thanks bro!
That is simply awesome nice one my man 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❗️😁
Maybe the funniest thing I have seen on youtube. I was thinking,"It looks like he is shooting up." Then the flash visual of you with the tube around your arm and tightening with your mouth! Not that I find drug use funny, but that cracked me up!! Thanks for the laugh
Loved all the tips on bandsaw in this one - have the same bandsaw so it was super helpful. Just ordered that blade too - thanks!
Thanks! That blade is a good one.
David, that is probably the nicest band saw box I have ever seen!
That is a nice piece. I think the base adds a lot to the piece. Stay safe. John
What a stunning project. I have workshop envy.
You have a fab talent!
If ya put some blue painters tape on the stock before gluing the pattern down, it comes off nice and clean.
The base is good!
the is probably my favorite box you've made. the texture is awesome, i never would've thought of that. i totally agree, the base makes the look complete.
Looks awesome! Yes the box and the mural!
This is an true work of art... Beautiful box... The base really makes it a finished piece for me... Great work.
Cool bandsaw box!
Love how you cut the explanations off to cut to the action. Great editing!
Love, love, love this project! It’s awesome how you experiment while you work, and adding the texture to the front of the drawers was inspired!
THIS is why you continue to inspire me and push me to experiment with techniques that I may not feel comfortable with at first! And for that, I thank you!!
UPDATE: I’m walking! Still going to physical therapy twice a week, but I’m walking on two legs!
The knot in the front of the base looks great.
I like how that is a variation of the Chicago style box from your bandsaw book (proud owner) with the drawers. Awesome box thanks for sharing as always.
Just ordered the bandsaw box book! Can’t wait!
Absolutely beautiful.
Thanks Brian!
Yay!!! NEW VIDEO FROM DAVID!!
Thanks for blade advice just bought an olson one and a timberwolf one only tried olson so far only because it came first..
Very nice.
"You can never have enough woodworkers telling you you can never have enough clamps" - I genuinely laughed out loud at that!
Beautiful work, for me the base really made it!
Great flocking video. Loved the evolution of the design as you worked through the project. "It's my box and I'll flock when I want to" (Sung to the tune of It's my party.) This seems to be my go to comment song. Call back to your Walnut and pvc pipe chair video. Keep the art coming!
Nice one, good job
Its a piece of art. ❤️ loved it.
Your bandsaw boxes could certainly be an everyday use. Yes they are art and stunning pieces but I also believe they can be functional too. I would love something like this on my bedside to store the little things that don't really have a spot like my rings, keys and earbuds at the end of each day :) Thanks for the inspiration, knowledge, entertainment and laughter your videos always provide!
Yet another great video. I bought your bandsaw box book as well and it really is a very good read, especially for beginners like myself. The only problem I have been having is to make a smooth cut for the actual drawers. I think it will just take a lot more practice with cheap wood before I move on to decent wood. Keep the videos coming; you are teaching me a lot!!
Looks phenomenal 👌
That was a great project, thanks for sharing that with us.
Great design and good idea with carving the fronts of each box.
Good morning from Southern Cal, where it is NOT colder than a politicians heart. David - suggest that you make a little sled thingy for better control of the drawers when slicing in the bandsaw. Just a little square of thinnish plywood with two cauls fastened close enough together to support the front and back of the drawer to keep it from hysterically jumping when you cut. Don't be Stumpy.
As usual a fantastic vid. I like how you had a plan, but also sort of made it up as you went along. Love it!!
that's really beautiful
Thank you for this video. I needed it.
This IS art, and oh my what a stunning piece it is! 💜 this one deserves its own place, just like a painting :) I love that you added the stand for it, it felt much more complete, and the design on the drawer fronts and the stand 💜💜💜
Love the texture!
Nice box u got
If you use your off cuts as a cradle it would ease the grabbing when you cut the backs and fronts off.
thank you bro lucking really nice.
awesome looking bandsaw box!
I bought the Rikon 10-306 (I think) based on David’s recommendation of his 10-305 a number of years ago. It is a great small bandsaw and perfect for beginners. I also have had no problems tracking my blade in all the times I’ve changed blades.
Great video! I’d been wondering what a bandsaw box was, to be honest! Now I’m keen to give one a go.
I love it! Solid techniques and artistic freedom is what makes your channel youkneek. 😎🤘🏽
OH ya I like the base! Great show as always.
Good video. Not stressy like some of the old stuff. You gon hit a million Dave!
Cool Video you looked like you were having fun.
Nice, good flocking action. Glad your bandsaw sounds like my Record bandsaw- squeals. Cheers David.
Came to the comments to see if anyone noticed the tourniquet at 11:09!!😂 had me laughing out loud. Nicely done!
Really cool design, love it!
Great job Dave! I can't wait to check out the new book.
I think this box looks pretty sweet. I've got a thing for boxes, especially those that have an out-of-the-box design. I bought the 10-305 a couple of years ago on your recommendation to replace my 10+ year old Delta which I hated. I bought it from the Big Green box store on a rebate week, so I got a great price for it. I have had no problems with it, it's a joy to use. I'm still using the original stock blade, though. I really need to try the one you suggest. Once you got the spoon out, I knew exactly where it was going. I was not disappointed. 😄 Thanks for another fun video and project!
Absolutely beautiful box and I really like the texture you added - I really thought the Dremel noise was going to be the start to a music video montage! I picked up the Rikon bandsaw after one of your shop tour videos and I couldn't be happier with it. I do need to pick up that blade though! Great video as always!
That mural...🔥🔥🔥
congrats it is art.
Pretty beautiful work, Dave!!! It looks amazing! 😃
Whisk as finish, hum? Interesting... 🤔
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great video I watch all your this was was right up my alley and I’m glad to know your bandsaw makes a shrieking sound also lol
She's gorgeous! 😍
Wow that came out awesome. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍
Great looking box i have tried before and gave up this makes me want to try again nice work
Try again, they again!
Very nicely done David! Having made a few bandsaw boxes I can appreciate how nice that turned out. I also appreciate how you fix mistakes just like the rest of us have to do. The arm & the needle clip was hilarious! Thanks, I needed a good laugh today! 👍👍😂😂😉😉
Love the Jim Bean as a finish! LOL
Bandsaw boxes make great candy holders...small size candy at least 🍬🍬
BA-NA-NA for Bender!
magnets could be added to corners of the base and the bottom of the box where you could easily attach them yet leave the ability to change the orientation of the base.
Yes. And as an added feature he could make a hidden drawer in the base...?
😂 I lost it when he tied his arm up 😂
The base really did finish it off.
Why does the front of those drawers look like meat to me? I'm concerned for myself.
I also have concerns.
From the thumbnail I thought it looked like salami .. Damn, now I'm hungry.
I'm not concerned, but I'm definitely hungry. 😬
Beef jerky box
You need more pepperoni in your life.
Holy hell David you’re hilarious sometimes 😂 11:08
“You can never have enough woodworkers telling you you can never have enough clamps...” 😂💯
Could be a good shirt idea 🤷🏻♂️
When I had a tracking issue with a 3/16" my blade on my little Rikon bandsaw, they eventually replaced the saw. The lower wheel assembly on the new saw was slightly different, and it tracks great with a 3/16" blade.
Cooking up with the spoon.... then the Syringe 😂😂 . Too funny
Cool 😎
Great. Now I can't show this in class, because of 11:09. Now I am actually going to have to work today.
Just great. (Seriously, I fell out of my chair from laughing so hard!)
Haha! Sorry! The next one will be clean. 😊
@@MakeSomething the kids would love it! Principal? Not as much......
