I would suggest, sit for GDPI, the decision to prepare can be made in a few months as well, after looking at your best calls. One can never say whether you'll get a call or not but yes, there are people who have lower cat % so chances are there. However on what basis a college chooses it's candidates is still unpredictable

Will this be enough to get calls (just for calls and I know it's not possible to convert) from IIMs? Also, what will be the location of the GDPIs of these institutes (i.e.) online or offline and if offline where it will be?

Can't say! Really depends on this year's criteria for IIM Shillong. There are decent chances based on last year's criteria but very low chances based on last to last year's criteria. So criteria changes every year!
