Yes, nice cover by The Derailers. Another great Harlan Howard composition. But Buck didn't cut it first - it was "former rockabilly" Warren Smith - a great rendition that set the standard. Also Wanda Jackson cut a killer and different version with overlapping vocals on the chorus. But, anyway, a lot of country artists have cut this shuffle.
Add Bobby Bare to that list along with Ray Price and Sammi Smith. As you say "a lot of country artists have cut this shuffle". I still love the Warren Smith original.
@@calindesmoines1 Thanks Cal - maybe I'm writing to Cal Smith ;-)...now that would be cool! But you are right - absolutely, Bare, Price, Sammi Smith and others. I agree that Warren's sets the standard. Harlan's own version is interesting as is Wanda's (which I mention) with that "round" vocal layering.
We miss you tony
Good steel and fiddle players. Good Buck Owens song. Tks much. THE COUNTRY TIGERS CANADA
Written by Harlan Howard
I saw them in Nashville, Dallas, and NYC - they were GREAT every time!!
Seen these guys at bucks Owens crystal palace in Bakersfield. Great band great show
the Derailers were so great when Tony V was with them.I wish he'd at least record some new stuff
I wish Tony would return to singing in some way too. He was the heart of the band. A voice like his should be heard.
Correct A-Mundo!
