For anyone looking for replacement tips.. Seems only the actual manufacturer of the irons offers them at the following link; grizzly-shop.de/navi.php?a=32091&lang=eng
joey malone the tips are garbage. Mine disintegrated before the iron needed its first charge (soldered 8x cree 3w LEDs). Unless replacements are no more than a couple pounds I will be returning it for a refund. Shame as I really liked it when it worked.
Do tag me if you make a video or post about it ! Very interested. I looked almost everywhere for bulb style tips, seems they're kinda a one-off idea by that company. I guess maybe you could use one of the old tips and/or a small bulb like you'd find in an oven light. Not sure if that would give enough heat if you soldered it to a tip without the glass. Or if you'd just end up breaking it. I assume its just power / gnd to the metal with copper beneath the coating on the tip
I realy love this great Product! Its absolutely working great! Never thought this, that it works so fine! Very good job from Parkside! Greetings from Germany!
Thanks for the review, you told me all I needed to know before buying this iron. Just an update on your model, they current one just has 1 power switch where you hold for 5 seconds and its on, press again and its off. There is no power supply just a USB cable and you get just 1 roll of solder.
I got it on sale in Lidl UK, it was the last one. Many years ago I've done electronics degree but then moved to the IT field so haven't really worked with electronics much apart from putting together arduino boards etc. For my amateur use of fixing headphone cables or soldering together some connectors from time to time it's perfect.
ik heb een soort gelijke van action maar ik vroeg me af of er een mogelijkheid is om zulke bits te vervangen door een fijne soldeerstift als dat nodig is voor electronica mvg
This iron and derivatives are sold by Action (Ferm), Vonroc ( both dutch, 4 tips including chissel tip at Vonroc ) , Lidl ( the Parkside one ), Aliexpress ( SB-B161 ). Ferm claims it is a Dutch design made in PRC. Tips are also available on Aliexpress at suprisingly high cost. That is the drawback of all of these: tips are expensive compared to the initial purchase price. So much so that you'd be better off buying a new iron.
thanks for the video just bought one today and i can see the limitations but it is a handy tool if your working with small jobs . (i wont be using this to spot weld :) ) ive seen some other reviews and they are negative but for £7 im happy
Depends on your needs. If you find yourself in the weirdest corners of your house doing some light soldering, then yes. If you need a little more power or are always soldering at the same place, use a temperature controlled soldering station.
@@basvandersluis5662 hmm sounds like this is gonna be ok for in car use. what type of battery is inside? im assuming its a 18650 type? also how long does it run for till it needs recharge?
@@slybunda One 18650 cell indeed. I don't know how long it will run. I've never ran it that long. I soldered all the wires at my ceiling with it. I guess that was more than 2 hours work. (but it was not on all the time)
Prepare a wet sponge and heat the tip until it melts solder without any problem. Then clean the tip with the sponge multiple times and repeat the process until the solder sticks. Don't ever use sanding paper.
The heating element is in the tip, so should be quite efficient. I have one of these but not used it yet. I would like a source for spare and alternative shape tips. Anyone know a source please.?
I made it work at 12 V for better performance. This model is 6 W and too weak for my purposes. LED light work after modification. I can still use batteries if work require.
Hey nice video :) I have a question. Should i switch it off and then plug it in this plastic stand? Is there a fear of burning the plastic if the front is not cool enough? Thats all :) THANKS
Thanks! As soon as you let go, it switches off automatically. The tube inside the holder is made of metal and has openings for cooling, so I guess it is made to put in there directly after soldering.
2:37 The stand has a connector that plugs into the iron when you put it on the stand. I guess this will automatically deactivate the heating and start charging.
The Lidl does not sell them all the time. It's just available for one week sometimes and after that it's gone for a long time. I'll let you know when I see it. You can also check eBay for the Weller cordless soldering iron (battery powered). That one seems good too.
@@geekyzstore3691 Where are you from? Theyre gonna be selling them this upcoming monday (April 11th 2019) over here in Bulgaria. The only difference from the one in the video is that its gonna be 4 volts instead of 3.5. Price is 15 euro ($17) per unit.
I bought one of these yesterday; it cost £14.99. The spec. is nothing like as good as the one above and does not include a charger. Most disappointing.

In the manual it said you could contact a lidl team to get replacement tips iirc

I wonder can you diy one from a bulb fitting / a good tip
You know what... I like it so much I'm going to find a way to hack it; especially as Grizzly want 6 euro's (each) plus postage from Germany!

Any newer models you recommend? Looking to buy a cordless solder from AliExpress

I bought one and doesnt get hot :(

is it worth the 10 quid that lidl want?

what kind of tip is that? is it possible to find it online
How did you get solder to stick to yours? Mine doesn't hold the solder.

grizzly-shop.de But if you read the manual, lidl state they can supply tips by contacting them.

You used 3s battery for the 12v and is yours still working ??
See that folded piece of paper at the top right of the picture? Those are the instructions. ;-)

Ive bricked the bottom switch so it can be turned on until the upper switch is turned off. Way better...
danijel124 not better for safety reasons
please . how much is it by dollar
About 10 bucks
Where is this for sale?
My wife bought it at the Lidl, which is a supermarket here in the Netherlands (and some other European countries).
Yea I can't find anything like it online anywhere. Let me know if you would ever consider selling and mailing me one.

The fking tips brake just from looki g at them wrong
Well Waterford crystal is made in China, why shouldn't Dutch solder be made there.
Te gek !
