I used to live in Colorado, and my favorite thing about hiking high in the mountains was catching a glimpse of these little cuties (and marmots :P )

Long story short, pikachu is actually Alaskan and he went on a search for his parents because he was separated at birth so it led him to Japan where he got in with the Yakuza for being some dang cute but he got in over his head so a little boy named Ash with an American style baseball cap saved him from gang life and turned him into an animal genie.
It looks like a cross between a mouse and a rabbit. MOBBIT.

You can't compare the behaviour of a wild animal to a domesticated one. Their behaviour is bound to be different.
