- Many of us Whisky fans think highly of Bunnahabhain 12 year. Is the 2021 Release of the cask strength 12 year worth double the price of the regular 12? Lets find out in this Whisky review!!
So glad you did this bottle. A little surprised by your score, thought maybe at least an 85. But hey that's the beauty of tasting scotch, everyone has their own opinion. At Total Wine, the regular 12 is $62 and the 12 cs is $82, so not really twice the price. I also heard good things about the 2022 12 cs release. I'll be looking for that bottle. Great review.
Ya seems like 2021 was a hit or miss with people. But the 2022 has been a crowd fav I think
I reviewed this last year and I'm 100% in agreement. Cask strength offerings are just less necessary when we already have a solid offering at 46%+ and that 12yo Bunna is already so good at 46.3%. Personally I think this 12CS is better when knocked down to around 50% anyway which makes it an even more questionable purchase.
A few people disagreed with me saying that this isn't worth the money over the 12 and 18. And I'd probably think differently if this stuff was £10 more than the standard 12yo.... but it's not! Cheers 🥃
Ya it seems like they are spot on with the regular 12 and 18 and this one let me down but I am hearing good things about the 2022 release so might give it one more try. Cheers
Knowing the LCBO in Ontario, may be paying triple the price of the regular Bunna 12.
Aprox £75 in UK now('22 release) 56.6% bit pricey but perfect as a guilty pleasure for Christmas 😁🥃🙋♂️
Ya i wont be surprised, lol
Agree with you. I love the 12 and 18. But this one seems a bit chaotic, even with water. I hope air time will make it better.
Ya, Im going to let it sit for a long time and see what happens
I asked this of Ralfy too - do they use the same casks as the normal 12 but just don't add water? Or do they use better casks for the CS? I kinda don't get it if not, because this is like 8-10 percent ABV higher than the normal 12 but twice the price. Good review.
That is a great question and I am not sure. This 2021 release def seems diff from the standard 12 so my guess is diff type of casks.
That is a good question. Would be nice to find out the answer.
Gonna be another fun one.
Cheers Will
Very interesting review.
My views on this one are very similar to your own. On the nose and palate it has some great notes. However, overall I found it just too hot, the alcohol is poorly integrated which unfortunately detracts from the overall experience.
So overall, not really an upgrade on the standard 12 in my view.
100% Check out my review for the 2022 release. Its much better
It seems sometimes the steady core range product gets in a way of these special offerings at a higher strength and maybe that's the case with Bunna 12 CS. I have a bottle and will see how it turns out and holds up over time. If I may, have you or does it make sense for you guys to do a ranking video of first to last place CS offerings?
I am hearing good things about the 2022 release so hopefully thats the one you have? Yes its a great idea Rohit! We have a 12 and 18 year old blind planned so maybe a cs one would be good as well.
@@maltreviews Excellent....look forward to it Narbe.
Great review!
Thank you
Thank you for the review. I’ll likely skip it should I come across it.
Ya maybe the 2022 but the 2021 release is a skip
Great review, on paper this 12 CS seemed amazing, but the reviews have been really average. I think I will skip this one :D
Ya maybe the 2022 release but this 2021 is not worth it for me
the cs 12 just doesn't have the balance of the regular 12
agree!!
