- This was the first Community Games Night, the public Team vs Team matches I'll be hosting throughout Back Again's run that will affect the main series. In this, ARVN and Viet Cong forces face off in the Delta to either finally eradicate VC presence in the south Delta, or to re-establish their base of power to continue to harass the Joint Task Force.
Welcome to Back Again: 1975, a grand scale, persistent and interactive ArmA 3 campaign, with out-of-game content to go with it.

Member of the combat squad here. We lost our radio very early on and we had no contact with other units. We started the round thinking we were right at their spawn. Once we realized that they were going to flank us, the original squad moved around and got separated. I was the AT guy so I was very slow and joined a group of guys. We were just quietly going through the jungle and just happening to hit ARVN at the best times. The river flank was just us basically following sounds and walking in random directions. At the end the VC are shooting from the hideout thinking we are ARVN. Me and the other guys in the squad assume its ARVN and since I was too slow to run, I decided to do a last stand thinking there were way more ARVN than there actually were. Also, in the mirror match I was the driver of the APC and when we get ambushed and molotov'd, I panicked and tried to run the VC down. Somehow me and Latham were able to stealthily drive the APC and clear the hideout together. It was so much fun and is genuinely the most fun I have had in Arma!

Oh my your story reminded me of why I love those moments when I just get lost and tag along with another squad, what makes it a bit more funny for me is I'm normally playing the medic and play in smaller units, so occasionally through sheer incompetence I can accidently make one squads life a bit of a pain and buff up another
God the VC retreating without ARVN even attacking is such a mental domination on ARVN's part
I mean it's logical to expect an attack. Getting nailed by accurate 40 mm fire? It would seem like ARVN were softening up the target before an assault

Sometimes i wonder why just shipping weapons wasn't enough to save Saigon.
They don't have grenade launchers or other indirect option of their own to fight back on even terms. If they stayed, they'd be just shelled to pieces. Retreat was right call, execution was botched.
@@ReySchultz121 Well alongside The fact the US/ARVN were basically having to brute force through guerilla positions with no terrain advantage, The US began to lose Public opinion in the war, And the effects of Defoliants on Friendly forces aswell as the terrain basically forced the US to pull out or suffer civil war.
That flank was epic, but also pretty accurate.
They were literally in the trees all around them, almost by chance, and executed an ambush even with low tier communication equipment.

Now I'd like to think that a majority of those ambushes that happened in Vietnam were instances of VC and US forces accidentally running into each other and Spiderman pointing at each other
@@andrewmeyer3599 Mostly the US bumping into VC that noticed them wayy before, realize the villages cooperate with VC, slaughter a village, whoevers left joins VC and plans another ambush...
During the first attack me and some medics were trying to revive a guy who was already dead by the river.
note I got killed by the lost combat team and you can see me behind a dead body and a tree trying to patch my wounds

It's a shame we can't always see the debriefs. Love hearing about what everyone was thinking and why they did what they did. Great content as always Rimmy!
May I ask why we can't usually see the debriefs?
@@robinkaasa5663 Other sqrads have had problems in the past with showing debriefs so the cadian don't
@@robinkaasa5663 I think it's also to prevent anyone from getting harassed if they're critical of the operation.
Rimmy explained the joys of the debrief in his Radio video, where one squad will apologize for having teamkilled another squad, where that squad will laugh because they thought they were killed by the enemy, etc.
That is something I really wish I could see more of. Like, no shit, I'd consider paying money on Patreon if I get access to Cadian XXth debriefs

ARVN’s performance is just one of those times in games you can complete at least a few objectives before or during a fight you’re supposed to lose to make sure the opfor only get a Pyrrhic victory if they only win because of plot
i wanted to hear the VC's reaction to finding out they called a retreat when it was solely just the grenadier attacking
Having only short distance radio, numbers disadvantage, enemy armor on sight and then being bombarded with M79 that you can't shoot back at.
And then some commenter on YT makes fun of them:\
@@TheArklyte yeah, because they convinced themselves that they were getting overrun despite the only proof of an attack being afew M79 grenades. Also, bombarded is a strong word for 1 person with an M79 and good aim.
@@cookiecraze1310 usually such launchers are given per squad/section. So if you're getting bombarded by it, it means the whole armed squad is about to crush into you.

Felt the VC were screwed because they got deorganised and fell into chaos and lost a point without putting up resistance
An unexpected flank from behind and east? Pinned down the AVRN forces an allowed them to be killed off.
And then that tight ending which almost ended in VC defeat

It takes a lot of commitment and coordination for a small unit like that to stay combat effective without any contact with friendly forces for so long.

This Op was just "No plan survives contact with the enemy" several times over.
VC plan part 1: get a grenadier out in the field.
Part 2: have said grenadier attack front line.
Part 3: Retreat, someone’s blowing us up, surely it can’t be our own forces, the enemy must be advancing.
Considering how short range their communications are, I feel like that’s a super real thing that could have happened in an actual war. Like I don’t know of a case where it has, but I’m sure it has.
Oddly enough that is a rather accurate war scenario with how deludded and confused one side becomes it's actually very facinating and could be counted as an accurate simulation ....
There’s a really good video by zvallid about what it Germany had fought the Vietnam war. I’d like to see that turn into an Arma campaign.

Y'know what would be really cool? Seeing Rimmy do a game where the riot on the Kitty Hawk(1972) becomes out of hand and turns into a mutiny
Edit: Y'know, this idea was completely stupid and after reading a bit more(a whole book) about the Kitty Hawk, I'd like to say that never again will I say the above statement.

Playing on the VC Side was A-MAY-ZING, had a blast playing. TvT is a very nice experience. Good stuff 10/10 would play and win again

I like Arma because you get fun moments like an element unknowingly firing on itself and then retreating because of it.

Legit set of questions as a newer zeus:
What addons/modules are being used for;
being able to see other zeus/moderators
the fact that whenever something gets spawned you can see it rather than doing the add/remove editable
along with the voice mod? the one that lets you talk as a zeus while in zeus mode, that one confuses me
I'm guessing you're just new to ArmA in general, but while I don't know his exact mod list I'm sure he is running Task Force Radio for the voice chat which requires TeamSpeak 3, ACE which has a ton of functionality mostly for players but some for Zeus, and I am fairly certain Ares/ Achilles or some variant of it as a few new Zeus function tools have popped up. Rimmy does a lot of mission coding himself though too so remember that.
@@ZeFluffyKnight im not that new, i help run zeusing for a 20-30 man unit with our own TS3 server on task force radio, mainly about that strange feature where the zeus camera, is where his character is at all times somehow, like the camera isnt a camera, rather hes just noclipping like a gmod player

Man, this video makes me miss running radio operator for my old unit. Got like 10 different things going on, and you need to pick through all of it to figure out whats important to you and where your squad lead needs his message sent

When the debriefing started it really confused me as I was watching this on full screen and I suddenly see a very unfamiliar taskbar layout pop out.
Will there ever be ROK Marines in this series, the VC and NVA feared them immensely, my dad told me they were almost as hard as the SEALs he was with.
