The Irish talk show The Late Late Show was again used to select Ireland's representative for Eurovision in a special show.
Tonight, six artists fought for the victory and the ticket to the Eurovision 2024 stage in May. The show was hosted by Patrick Kielty, and was aired from Studio 4 at the RTÉ Television Centre in Dublin.
After an intense night it was time for the Irish public, along with both a national and an international jury, to vote:
Bambie Thug will represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song "Doomsday Blue."

The way you get people to vote for you in Eurovision isn't to be the 5th or 6th favorite for most people. It's to be the absolute 1st favorite for as many people as you can, doesn't matter if you're last for the same amount of people. This will do great. The big stage will benefit it also.

yea that's really it at this stage it's literally flinging spaghetti on a wall and seeing if anything sticks man you have no fucking idea how low our standards are just making the fucking final would be as good as winning it at this stage going into 2024 the previous 9 contests only once have we qualified that was 2018 6 years ago now failed to make the final 4 years in a row a feat we have achieved twice in the last 9 years
this century the best place we have finished was 6th in 2000 ......

For Bambie Thug this isnt like Dustin, everyone will see it as weird/different, i'm already seeing some who rate is as their #1. + she is part of LGBT so that will get some votes. I guarantee you

I didn't bother listening to Ireland's songs because I just got sick of the beige - when I heard this I was so excited. This is stunning.
I am speechless and at the same time, I love it. It is so refreshing when a country sends a risky song although sometimes the song finishes in a not very good position (like Blanca Paloma with five points from the televote), but I really think Bambi will be in the final.

@jtb357 everyone can have a different opinion on what a masterpiece is. Art is subjective which is a beautiful thing. They think its a masterpiece, you don't. Both statements can be true at the same time.
Personally I really like the song. It's the kind of music I listen to anyway so I'm delighted to see it represented at the contest.

I love how vocally strong they come across with the awful Late Late Show sound mixing. Makes me REAL excited to hear it with the big Swedish production on the MASSIVE stage.
Last year, everyone said 'Ireland's song is too generic' and low and behold it didn't qualify, so I'm not sure why some people don't like this! The studio version was the best, great vocals, dancing and strong song. And even the Irish public and jury liked it with Eurofans in the crowd chanting Bambie's name! It felt like this year, Ireland understood the task. Even if Ireland doesn't qualify, this is a BIG step forward! People WILL remember this!
A song can be original and not generic but that doesn't mean it's a good one.

As a Swede I really like this. Ireland have for too many years in a row sent something safe and pretty bland. I wish that Sweden also could send something else than radio friendly pop.

I'm a gothy guy from Ireland and actually hyped we sent a spooky act. We are the home of Bram Stoker and Le Fanu (also some very messed up spooky folklore) so I like to think of this as Ireland embracing the spooky side of our culture which is oft overlooked
I don't think runes and viking symbols are your culture though.
There’s Ogham there too. Plus Bambie is half Swedish, so Viking stuff is part of their heritage. Actually, most Irish people have some Viking blood due to early invasions

Not really seeing this as very risky as long as the semis are televotes only. Is this my cup of tea? Definitely not. But I do get why people are intrigued with this entry. And we will be able to welcome Ireland to the final this year.

To be honest, I absolutely love it. It's one of these songs that I will be listening to when going to battle to win my A grade at school. Her vocals are not bad and the staging has such a great potential. I feel similar vibes as I felt when listening to Go_A. It's risky, yeah, but at the same time, I feel like it's one of the best picks for Eurovision. Eurovision is not just about singing, but also about originality and whole atmosphere of the performance. I look forward to hearing this at the Eurovision.

In Portugal João Borsch - "...Pelas costuras" is for me the best, if he ever wins in Portugal, but he has to make a huge show to be able to even compete with Ireland this year.... This Bambie Thug was amazing over the top! 🤩

They are taking a huge risk this year, and I guess that this will pay off. If tomorrow they are going to get a 2nd half of a Semi-Final, they might be higher than expected in the semi... Bambie Thug is going to work very hard for a better live in May! Good luck Ireland!

It's really a very interesting mix of genres and she had a great singing voice as well as the screaming/growling one. The only thing that puts me off a little is that there's so much talking especially in the beginning. But the song builds up so you're wonder what will happen next, keeping you interested from the beginning to an end. Really great entrance Ireland, congrats!

Ireland has always had beautiful melodic songs, and this - this is a tragedy. An average song, but a demonic, satanic performance. This is disgusting. I'm shocked that Ireland isn't ashamed to send something like this.

I really enjoy this. For me one of the most important thing is how different and refreshing the song is. I really dislike basic pop songs with a basic chord and basic lyrics like the throwaways that we get from like 80% of the countries every year.

It's weird to me how nobody points to the dancers kind of looking like the creature in Donnie Darko.
Honestly this song went straight to my number 1 spot! It's very divisive, you either love it or you hate it! And they've got people talking! Better than a forgettable boring song Ireland have sent in the past. This was a fantastic result for Eurosong, and Bambie is definitely a great performer. They have some great ideas which I think will look amazing on the big stage! 💖

I'm so happy for Ireland, finally something worthy to send. Glad to see some non-binary representation, the song is unique, the national final was a mess but they adapted so well and I think they sounded amazing even when not considering the problems. This was my number 1 at some point and it's still very high, go Bambie! 🏳️🌈

I Know Im being a bit 'anal' with the repetitive naming of the artist, but this artist has got such a creative grip on so many aspects of performance and a fantastic voice.( "Love Bites" and "Necromancy" the latter from the BBC session display her vocal skills beautifully.

If she can come up with a big stage spectacle to go along with the song, she might actually have a decent chance of doing well with this. Eurovision likes wierd acts and this is right up there! Its been a long time coming for ireland to have someone like this come along, with a song that is totally out of left field like this. Best of luck to you Bambi!
I find the choreography distracting, and would rather she connect with us more by just giving it straight to camera… but it is memorable… feels like there is a lot of witchiness coming at us this year; don’t know how it will stand up against Slovenia or GÅTE (if Noway send them, which I hope they do!)… seems a bit amateurish in comparison, but there’s time to improve!
