I was in the process of getting my PPL when it changed years ago. When they introduced the ACS they changed slow flight demonstration, it used to he to ride the horn and don't stall. Now it's fly slow but don't hit the horn... I think they should change it back. It's a very important part of flying and probably the most dangerous if you don't know how to control the aircraft during slow flight.
Am a Gold Seal CFI since the '70s and appreciate your clear, "bite size" videos. Well done. Subscribed.
I love practicing slow fight :)
Thank you
Commercial? Maybe. Private? I doubt it. The FAA has signaled multiple times that they even want to remove stalls entirely. There is a large push to actively promote engage and train individuals to prevent stalls. And since the procedure to break an imminent stall and an actual stall are the same, better to develop the muscle memory of prevention.
This is from 2022, nothing new here.
Since stall/spin is a significant component of fatal GA accidents, I am unsure why the Feds went away from the "old" PTS maneuver...
