Fuzzball Special is a take on the Fastball Special, traditionally a tactic where Colossus would throw Wolverine directly into combat (and is often used in more general contexts to refer to "big guy throws little violent guy into a combat"). I just wanted to comment that early on before I finished, looking forward to watching the rest of the video!
I also agree with what you guys were talking about at the end in terms of Squirl Girls cards, why not increase the value of some of the cards by at least 1 and the boost values? Maybe restoration is scared of making another Sherlock or Medusa but a move 2 melee fighter needs all the help they can get. Even in the newest pack they hinder the fighters by filling some of their decks with dud cards. Meanwhile theres Yennenga and Sherlock with almost unilaterally great cards in their deck
I was wondering what happened to the comment someone wrote about unbeatable squirrel girl vs [Sherlock card], then I realized they probably deleted their own comment when they realised they were wrong.
General Q on small fighters: the Teen Spirit rules introduce these the first time, right. So if it says "Small fighters are considered adjacent to spaces they are in and to fighters they share a space with..." Doesn't that mean that the normal rules of adjacency are overwritten? Which would mean that "Kick Butts" would have a max attack of 5! Mind you, it would make playing squirrel girl even harder.
No the small fighters are adjacent just like normal fighters and ADDITIONALLY adjacent to the space they are currently in. So it can get to a max of 9.
I recently discovered unmatched but I'm loving it so much. Do you think the new characters are stronger than the old ones? would you like to make another tier list with the new fighters as well?
Some old characters are still top tier, for example Medusa and Sherlock, there's also a good amount of mid tier characters from the older sets. I feel that the newer sets don't really have any horrible characters though, whereas the older sets were sometimes hit and miss, for example King Arthur, Jekyll & Hyde and some Buffy characters, that are not very strong.
I don't think the new characters really exceed the power of some older characters (like Medusa, Sherlock, Bigfoot for example) but generally they meet a certain power threshold that many older characters fail to meet. So they are more often tournament viable. I'll definitely do another tier list at some point, likely after the next major tourney. Welcome to Unmatched!
Restoration Games does a good job at keeping the balance. And with every new set, the game becomes more and more balanced. The most recent set, is very strong, but not all S tier, B-A… the set before that were all F-B… it varies. But more sets = more fighters and more fighters = tighter competition.
Here is a step by step guide to beat Sherlock with Squirrel Girl (1/1 success rate) 1. Throw useless squirrel attacks into Sherlock, making him waste cards and forcing him to stay in combat. Keep Squirrel Girl at close to full health, away from combat. 2. Pray Sherlock runs out of defense and has schemes only in hand. Nutwork out an eliminate the impossible and a confirm suspicion, land an undefended Squirmish 3. Now that Sherlock has no elementaries due to part 1, and has made a critical positioning mistake, land a Kick Butts for 4-6 damage. It's crucial that he doesn't play feint into this. 4. Now when Sherlock inexplicably doesn't play administer aid, manuvering instead, start attacking with your damage schemes, and heal up. Hide from Sherlock otherwise, gaining a massive advantage in fatigue. 5. Sherlock finally goes in with his reds that were buried in deck. Weather the storm, finish him off with an undefended hit to win the game. This could definitely work competitvely. Just don't count the number of times I said, "Sherlock gets unlucky" or "Sherlock player messes up."
Never thought I'd see the day where Zero throws for content and plays Squirrel Girl lmao. I still think she's better than people think (as in she's not the objectively worst character in the game, she's still just slightly above bad) but the overhead that comes with playing her is not worth having a weird counterpick.
Haha yeah she has some surprisingly good matchups. But I just wish she was move 3 or had better boost values. Then people couldn't just run away so easily on bigger maps.
I loved your Analysis of Squirrel girl! I have question tho: "Deduce Strategy" says: "You may change the printed value of the opponent's card to it's boost value." When you read other unmatched effects like Dr. Jill Trent card "Stasis diffuser", it says "The value of your opponent's card is equal to it's printed value and cannot be changed." I would understand that the value of a card is synonym with the printed value of a card. So for example, when using "Deduce strategy" to attack "Call of the wild". Wouldn't the defense be 4 anyway? Therefore a viable defense against "Deduce strategy"? I tried to look for it online, but I could not find any Unmatched source that talks about the difference of Value and Printed Value.
Every Squirrel Girl game ends the same… talking about how bad the deck is, specifically the boost values and move 4, also needs more ANY’s… there’s just no reason to ever grab her over anyone else UNLESS the top 30 fighters are banned out.
Squirrel Girl, Squirrel Girl! She's a human and also a squirrel! Can she climb up a tree? Yes she can, easily! That's whyyyy her name is Squirrel Girl! Is she tough? Listen, bud: she's got partially squirrel blood! Who's her friend? Don't you know: that's the squirrel, Tippy-Toe!
I remember all the people who were hyping squirrel girl up and when I said she looks bad and her design is poor on top of it people got all butt hurt. Shakespeare and Rosie are pretty lame characters so I'm glad sun orgin is coming before them
The great thing about this game is that there are characters that appeal to everybody! You don't have to like them all but I'm sure there is something for each player. I'm not a huge fan of Squirrel Girl either, but Rosie does sound interesting because I've heard mention of a mech suit.

@@zeroskatr12 True, I feel the only people to stand a chance against him on the regular though would be someone with an equal number of schemes and health. @@JustinVillemure Right? And he has healing in his deck, they should either reduce his schemes, reduce his health and Watsons health by 4 or make his and Watson 5 value attacks 1 copy each. Maybe give him 3 regroups instead of the extra eliminate the impossible and confirm suspicion
@@Roxas77 Yeah, in terms of balance, at the time, it wasn't quite as good as it is now... If an opponent picks Wukong in tournament play would you consider picking SG as a Wukong counter if you also had map advantage?
Me personally no. But I have heard that she does pretty well against Wukong, so other people might.
If Squirrel Girl had three movement, do you think she could be competitive?
It would certainly help her a ton! I don't think she would be high tier, but definitely high mid at least.
I was surprised she wasn't a three move when she came out. It would have fit her character.
