Thanks again, Dr. Cliff.
This is super! I have another visit with my audiologist tomorrow (1/12) to progress towards getting a BAHA. I am excited about the world opening up to me! My providers will be hearing about your channel. Thank you for educating in a free and easy to access forum.
Thank you Dr. Cliff💕👍🏻👏🏼
You are very welcome
There are so many associations I could relate with in your presentation and I certainly hope others will as well. With that said, I for one am greatly appreciative of all the dedication and continuing efforts of the engineers and all the professionals connected with hearing loss. There are yet a few developments I’d like to see happen, one of which is a software feature that would allow you to eliminate peripheral and background noise and hone in on the person in front of you, talking. If it’s available, my Oticon Siya mini rites’ either don’t have it or I’m using them incorrectly. Additionally I want to stress the importance of your cleaning segment because the proper performance of these devices are absolutely dependent upon it.
I always enjoy learning new stuff about my ‘hearing’ world and Dr Cliff, you are a lifeline to better understanding it.
Thank you for your dedication.
Thank you Dr
Love your videos. Thank you for all the hard work. Do you have any videos addressing CAPD? I have quite good hearing, tested yesterday by a licensed audiologist, but I can’t differentiate multiple voices. I’ve found minimal benefit from AirPods and am interested in low gain hearing aids.
Dr. Cliff, I really appreciate your videos. Do you think at some point we will have devices that double as hearing aids and sound blocking ear plugs? I contacted Phonak and asked if their ActiveVent could do this, and they said no. The reality is that many of us have damaged hearing because we work in loud environments. It would really help to have a single device that gave us significant decibel reduction when we need it and tailored amplification when we need it, especially since phone apps for setting changes already exist. I’m a musician, fyi, but if I worked with a jackhammer every day, the same device would be invaluable.
Hi Doc! Thank you for offering these fantastic videos. I live in the NYC area and it seems there are extremely few audiologists who have officially signed on to your best practices certification here. Any recommendations for finding a great audiologist in other ways?
I upgraded from an phonak hearing aid to a Oticon hearing aid today and it is amazing
Rechargeable hearing aids do not work for those of us who travel or need to hear at night while sleeping. I live alone and depend on at least one of my hearing aids in case my smoke alarm or bugler alarm sounds. If you have a high frequency hearing loss, it’s necessary to sleep in at least one hearing aid.
I do listen to your videos. Sometimes I think it does take a hearing impaired person to help you understand our issues. The rechargeable aids die during the night. Then when I need them at 6am for work (I am a nurse) one of them needs recharging. It’s so difficult being hearing impaired at a younger age!!! Love your info tho! Thank you
You need to work out a routine in the evening so that your aids can get through the night. I’ve got Phonak P90s, and you can get a good charge from 30 minutes in the charger - enough to get through the night. If you take a shower at night, pop them in for half an hour, and they’ll get through. Likewise in the morning - just find a time before leaving for work when you can get by without them, and juice them up!
I like my 3 month old rechargeable Oticon Ruby 2. What a world of difference it makes in quality of life. Thanks Dr Cliff, I've learned much from your channel.
Thanks for sharing!
Another great video. Thank you!
I'm curious about future HA research and development. I once read about an idea where your HA would focus its attention based on your eyes' direction. (I guess by having a sensor in your glasses). Any truth to that?
as always I'm glad of the videos you make and I'm also glad hearing aids has come a long way since the 80s and 90s now that I am in need of hearing aids I don't have to place my cell phone in an uncomfortable position when I'm on it and more so when the phone is on the charger or my pocket
Hi Dr. Cliff - thanks for a great video. I just liked it too. Thanks for all your great info you share. Question - the new ReSound One says it has better technology for restaurants and wind. Would you say this is incremental improvement? I have the Linx Quattro. I have bilateral, immune mediated sensorineural hearing loss. THANKS Doc for any information. Have a great day. / Christopher
Hey Christopher, thanks! In regards to your question, it really depends. It is hard to answer it without me fully knowing your specific situation.
@@DrCliffAuD Fair enough. But the ReSound One new technology - is that really new advances? I’m thinking that it’s probably not revolutionary. Trying to see if it’s really worth it.
Thanks for your informative vids from Australia :) I had a custom ear mould with a vent fitted approx. 7 years ago & found the occlusion effect terrible & had to ditch it & go back to the semi closed rubber domes which I find work loose somewhat & need "pushing" back in semi regularly so I can see that the custom mould would do a better job. Do you find that custom moulds are more prone to blocking / closing the canal & thus producing that occlusion effect generally? The occlusion "echoing" effect for me is a deal breaker so I'm hoping that new mould tech has changed that possibly?
Got my Oticon More aids in December from the VA here in the States. They gave me the ear vented fitted ones. Had the occlusion effect and did not like them. Found the open bass domes on EBAY that are made for them. Wow what a difference! I really like them now. Maybe you needed a larger dome before. Mine are 10mm in size. Hope this helps you.
i dont need a hearing aid to change the channels on my TV or remotely start my truck,,i just want an analog chip that dont warble, click or constantly over process sound so it sounds like its up and then its down,,up then its down..
1. Got it. 2. Got it. 3. Nope, no custom ear molds. 4. Hmmm ... 🤔 don't have deep learning. Oticon sounds pretty good. But what about my Double Tap Control feature? 😁😘
Lol... no Tap Control for you!
Dear Dr. Cliff. Always appreciate your reviews and hearing aid information. As a pianist and organist who performs live, I rely on the best full-spectrum hearing device I can find. Noise-limiting technology may be great for better hearing in a noisy restaurant, but for hearing my acoustic instrument in the most natural way, these devices have failed. Is there a hearing device out there that fits in the ear canal and can also allow for the best full-spectrum hearing? Perhaps some of your patients are musicians and have found such a device. Definitely great advice about the custom ear mold. Very important!
Have you heard about Earlens yet? I have a review video of it.
I am not a musician or engineer, but use the “music” program on my Widex Beyond HA (RIC) to transmit more “unchanged” audio to my HA when I want just amplification. It appears to me that is what it accomplishes, but I have not researched the technology or algorithm. I am sure other HA have similar programs?
got same problem it filter out all low feq sound and you can hear all sound with headset but not with new hearing aid
Thank you for making all these videos, without people like you people like me would still still be in the dark some what about hearing aids
oh wow ! ear molds making 3d impression so that so cool which hearing aid from oticon bluetooth is good for severe hearing lost ? my hearing aid just died last week so it time for an upgrade
i love the invisible ear mol
I love my Widex Moment rechargeable-
Interesting video, but have a couple comments.
Batteries: prefer getting the packs and swapping in a fresh one...I wear aids from 6am to midnight, use bluetooth a lot, so rechargeables would not work for me.
Bluetooth: works well with android phone and with tv, BUT cannot add ipad without killing the phone connection...it allows one or the other, not both.
Thanks for another great video, Doctor Cliff. I have a question regarding bluetooth streaming, since I've never really understood the benefit for me. I'm a musician, so uncolored, pure sound quality is of utmost interest to me. I have a very typical high frequency loss, and my current HAs (which do not have bluetooth streaming) do a good job of reinforcing my missing frequencies, leading to a nice balanced sound across the full frequency spectrum. When I tried a bluetooth streaming aid, the only frequencies being streamed to my ears were my make-up frequencies, so music listening was totally unacceptable, tinny and lacking any bass and low midrange frequencies. So bottom line is I don't understand why this is a feature I would be interested in, except possibly for phone calls. What am I missing here???
Venting is critical when it comes to streaming music. Rather, lack of venting. The low frequency sounds will leak out of the vent when streaming so if you want better sound quality, you need to close off the earpiece vent and increase bass and mids coming from the audio stream.
The exception to this rule is Earlens. Because Earlens directly drives the eardrum via a tiny custom built lens you are able to stream sound directly into the sound processor with a wide open vent. Earlens is a non surgical hearing solution. The lens is placed by an ENT physician in an in office procedure and the processor is programmed by an audiologist. Dr Cliff has a recent review of Earlens on his site. Check it out!
@@DrCliffAuD hi doctor cliff I'm just wondering if you have server tinnitus for more then 15 years in both ears and have mild healing loss is it possible by any chance that if the 0T0 131 gos well in August 2022 would it work for them with server tinnitus both ears?? Mild hearing loss
Hi what is best treatment for auditory neuropathy hearing loss for adults
Question, my hearing aids keep falling out when I'm very active and I find I'm always pushing them back in a lot. My Audiologist say it like glasses you have to keep pushing them up....but I don't have to do that with my glasses, they fit fine....so I have a reverse slope hearing and think a custom ear molds would solve this issue of them falling out. My ear canals are very straight too so a mold would help retain them?
?? Dr. Cliff I’m really enjoying and learning a lot from your videos! Question, I’m a professional musician with mild to moderate hearing loss. Will/can the Oticon More Deep Learning assist in me in my work environment? Wondering how or if the Oticon More Deep Learning will be able to separate or acknowledge musical sound/notes from regular everyday background noise. It’s been suggested to me that I look into ReSound and Widex brands. Thoughts for musicians who need hearing aids? Thank you so much for educating all of us!
V
You will want to use Oticon's new MyMusic program for better music quality. The biggest problem for most hearing aids is the limited input dynamic range. However, the Oticon More has been a good option for music lovers. As a professional musician, you may or may not be 100% satisfied with music from any brand of device.
@@DrCliffAuD Thank you for your response. It is truly valued. Also, I was able to find a hearing professional near me who uses the "Best Practices". Thank you for creating your list of professionals!
Hope you have a great weekend.

The phonak Audeo Lumity has an automatic music setting based on the musical environment
Have you reviewed the neosonic mx-ric hearing aids
I would love to know how to bluetooth a hearing aid to the television.
My audi is recommending against the MicroShell as she said it's best to avoid a more occluded mold for me; haven't seen her again about this to get explanation but I do have a hole in one eardrum (obvi worse loss there), and need her to reprogram my new Oticon Mores as I'm struggling with speech much more than my old Bernafon Zerenas.
It really depends on your level of hearing loss. In some cases, a rubber dome is better. However, if you are struggling with speech, there is a chance that your current setup is not optimal.
OK, I am going to try the Oticon More HA. But there are More 3, 2, and 1's, at significantly different price levels. Does the More 3 work with the aural network the same as the More 1's? If so, what do I get from buying the More 1's that I don't get with the More 3's?
Hi Doctor Cliff. I'm tossing up between Phonak P-90's and Oticon More 2s. Can I send you my latest audiogram and get you to make a recommendation?
Great video Cliff! Yes I’m loving one and two as my Phonak Paradise 50’s has rechargeable batteries and they last all day! And I can’t live without Bluetooth for phone and RUclips streaming! I’d love to have #3 For sure. My only issue is the cable digging into my ear but I’m sure that can be fixed. Happy New Year,
If I have top of the line Phonak Bluetooth hearing aids bought three years ago, can I ask audiologist to make those custom molded ear tips you spoke about?
Yes, but they have to use Phonak's earmolds.
Does PHONAK have custom hearing ear pieces and deep learning technology?
Can you do a review on Tru Hearing, hearing aids?
Sorry, no.
Can you please do a video on a comparison between the different manufacturers implementation of smart noise reduction? Oticon More deep learning vs. Starkey Evolv AI Edge v.s. Signia AX dual processing etc. When it comes to these kinds of smarts it's not just identifying background noise, but also eliminating it, and that's what really matters. For example, let's say that Oticon can recognize 100% of background noise but can only eliminate 20% of it, whereas Evolv can recognize 20% but can eliminate 100%, then they're effectively the same. Additionally, Oticon and Starkey do this processing entirely in software, whereas Signia does it partially in hardware,. This could have a profound impact on the results, but on the flip side, software is easily upgradeable, whereas hardware is not. The noise reduction from a Oticon/Starkey device should get better over time without requiring new hardware, but with Signia your device will likely not improve much, if at all, which is important to take into consideration.
Thankyou so much for these videos!
Technology for iic seems like it's gotten worse since 2016. I have oticon alta 2 pro, they work beautifully with the streamer. I need to upgrade soon, but can't find anything like that in an iic anymore, do you know of any new iic's that work with a streamer? I love your advice:)
@doctor Cliff, I am curious if Hearing instruments can connect to generic bluetooth transmitter, something like what you would be able to get on Amazon?
I've seen it work, but there are some latency issues typically.
I would like to request a public service announcement type of video warning citizens who may not be aware of their hearing loss. Include statics, symptoms, and common causes of hearing loss. Younger people also need to know how to prevent hearing loss with daily habits. I PROMISE to post to my Facebook if you are able to. Thanks!! Please respond!
How about a series? huh?
Where is your deep learning NN video?
Thank you so much for the correct English subtitles in your channel and you respect to people who their first language aren’t English language!
Thanks Sarah!
I have had hearing aids since i was 6 months old. I'm now 25. The direction hearing aids today are going is saddening. Maybe its just me but i currently have Oticon Tego Pro's and i have had them for 10+ years. They dont make them anymore and this is leading me to try new hearing aids since mine are on their death bed. NOTHING that i've tried sounds like how my current ones do. All of the newer style of hearing aids sound extremely digitally processed and un-natural. I don't like the fact that they hunt for sound or adjust sound profiles. I want them to turn on and stay the same until i shut them off again. I just want hearing aids that sound "Normal" to me. i dont care if it can connect to my phone or my tv. I WANT DUMB HEARING AIDS NOT SMART ONES!
Dr Cliff .why 98%of insurance companies does not cover the hearing aids cost ? next year I will be 65 year old , someone told me I need to buy another insurance which "may" help a little be to cover huge cost of 4 thousands or more of hearing aids ....i am worry..
Many don't due to the cost to the insurance companies. Same reason why Medicare doesn't. Considering that most older individuals will need hearing aids as they age, it is an almost guaranteed expense to insurance companies. Insurance companies don't like guaranteed expenses.
If you are a veteran you might be eligible for hearing aids.
Do you do a video with Widex as your sponsor?
I have. Widex was my first sponsor.
Roberta. Anthony.
Hi guys,Do you think the hearing aid technology will develop enough to reset the hearing loss of more than 70 in both ears?
Doctor kon sa implant sab say acha haa
Prefer my phonak cic than oticon bte..
Dr Cliff, Mead Killion and his 1989 K-amp would like a word with you! You're underselling the performance of properly fitted K-Amp devices from the late 80s and early 90s.
😂 You're Hilarious Brian!
What ha would you recommend for a person with profound hearing loss?
Whichever one best meets your needs and is fit by an Audiologist who follows Best Practices.
@@DrCliffAuD Thanks! I do have an awesome audiologist that works with me. I am a musician and she has my aids set up very good. My aids are 15 years old and very outdated. The thing is I cannot afford the new ones. oh well.
What about the sound of the little screaming (for no discernible reason) children (especially in restaurants). What technology will help with that problem. We now take our hearing aids out when that starts up, but then we can't hear each other.
You need a hearing aid with some fast acting compression to reduce the transient screams of children. 😂
I find this video misleading and reprehensible. If you want to promote Oticon, say so from the outset; don't lure us into thinking this is an objective perspective on new technology and then concede halfway through that it's an Oticon promotion crafted to use your professional credibility to advance one company's market share.
Rechargeable hearing aids are the stupidest idea EVAR....UNLESS the rechargeability involves a separate rechargeable battery that can be swapped out for non-rechargeable ones of identical size. I sure as **** don't want to have to replace my entire hearing instrument just because the "rechargeable" battery will no longer "recharge", as is inevitable.
Fortunately, Oticon More rechargeable lithium batteries can be exchanged in-clinic.
But what's the best solution for severe tinnitus?
To see a tinnitus expert to identify the proper treatment option that actually works for you.
hello gangsta doctor
