Hey, I'm pretty sure you can change the cartridge, but haven't done so myself yet, however it's one of my next things on the list. If you've not done it yet I'll post here what I will buy. Spare parts should be available just google the model on ebay and I'm sure lots of parts will come up!
For me the speed mechanism on my PL-333 is kinda faulty. I have too set it like 5 times when changing from one speed to the other. As if it didnt get it fully, sometimes it helps when i hold it completely to the left/right untill the speed i want is fully there... Do you know what the problem could be? I didnt opend mine up yet.
Sorry can't tell what it is, however there are not many electrical components in there so - if you have soldering skills and it's not a mechanical problem - you can substitute the parts one at a time :)
hello! i have the pioneer pl-980 model which looks and functions similarly to this turntable, but the auto start-stop is behaving weird, if the record is done playing the arm moves to the resting position and then immediately moves back to start playing the record again, sorta like auto repeat haha, i assume this is because the lubricant is gunky, because this behavior does not occur when i have the player on it's side and hold the arm that initiates the start-stop manually, do you have any recommendations on how to lubricate the pivot point? like what kind of lubricant and what to look out for, thanks in advance!
Hello, I think auto-repeat might just be a feature haha!! Anyway I use this silicone-based lubricant for these jobs. Here's the one I actually bought (I am not endorsing any vendor, it's just where I happened to buy mine): www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392661883306 Hope it all works out for you, good luck!
@@theretrohandyman7708 this record player doesn't feature auto repeat as far as i know, i also just observed this behavior also happens when i pull the stop lever manually
@@theretrohandyman7708 oh sorry i completely read over the haha part! i opened it up and did some reverse engineering and figured out i had some part placed wrong and now it completely works again! thanks for your quick replies tho!
Hello man, Great video! Congratulations!! I have a question ... did you changed the belt ? I've seen that the first time the belt was too tough... after it look like have been good..
Maybe a drop of oil to the spindle ? Personally I am a bit vary of that black specific restorer, it can overdo it, I prefer a neutral one. Good on the ScratchX :) I used it on the car with good results.
Nice! Looking to repair one for myself right now. Glad I found this video :) I have a weird question, when I connect the player to power, the motor starts rotating already. Is it the same for you? What does the play/stop button do?
Hello and thanks for watching ;) Yes it did the same for me at the beginning! I thought it might have been the arm that was stuck, you can see it around 5:00, moving the arm a couple of times seemed to fix it for me. The start/stop button will automatically start a record (based on the rpm 33/45) or stop it. From an idle position it will move the arm to the correct spot on the record and then lower it. If you press it again it will lift the arm and send it back to the arm-holder. Hope this helps!
Well hello! I have this model, but the dose and needle need to be changed. Could you tell me which model to buy and it will fit?
Thanks for the video. How can I calibrate the speed (rpm) for each case (45 and 33)?
Greetings, thanks for your video, I have this model, where can I buy spare parts? is it possible to improve the cartridge?

Hey, thanks, I need to make more videos, but haven't got enough time! Yes I have changed the belt, the previous one was melted.
