I love how Italian Americans are preserving old traditions, like cheese making. Plus they also add to the culture with some American versions of old recipes.
As an Sicilian myself I am proud of the people who escaped this hellhole to live a better life, many people here are jealous. Unlike the English or German, the Italian ancestors hold on to their heritage.
There is NO Italian Culture on Arthur Avenue.. The Culture is very well preserved in our homes, Family and Food. These guys are NOT speaking Italian, I don't know what it is... more like a Low life Bronx Accent.
Yes, 1000%. Philly, St. Louis & Federal Hill (now mainly latino though) are the easy honorable mentions, however. Boston, Manhattan, Chicago, San Fran are fully gentrified. Arthur Ave (and St. Louis / Philly's Market) are the only places I feel true 'old-school' Italian-American authenticity. The others are tourist traps.
It's sad what happened to Boston's North End. I was there this past summer for the first time in over twenty years and didn't recognize it. All of the personality is gone.
Walked right into a Time machine. Back in the old days, Every Italian neighborhood had one of these markets. Howard Beach, cross bay blvd markets are hold strong, but the old generation is dying off. The younger generation is going to Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Costco’s.
The truth is that the entire area is filthy ! most all the Restaurants are owned by Albanians - Not Italians. No Italians actually live in the area, it's Black and Puerto Rican residents. The grocery stores and cheese shops are very good. But ALL the stoppers come from Westchester County and some tourist. The shoppers are ALL very old 80+. No young person is going down there to shop for bread or cheese.. the same products are now available all over Westchester in Specialty Italian shops. The last time we went was December 2021.. It was depressing.. never again.
@@jamesMartinelli-x2t Albania and Greece are in the Balkans. Great food and culture but those people have nothing to do with Italians. Rome is Rome and the Balkans is the Balkans. Albanians and Greeks are Master-Bakers so it's natural for them to own pizza shops and Italian restaurants but that doesn't make them Italian.
Celebrating one year anniversary of a smoke-free lifestyle no cigarettes no weed no tobacco have any kind. I have the fucking munchies so bad watching this video thanks guys.!!!! Time to go slice up some of my homemade salami just satisfy that craving. No weed for a year but this video is giving me the munchies like I just choked on a three paper LMFAO.
Congrats on that year. I've got 30 years smoke free and sometimes I still want a cig. Vicious habit. If rather eat some good grub in little italy. Bravo.
Thank you, brother. I hear that for sure. Lol I’m like a bloodhound somebody sparks one up I can smell it miles away. Only a smoker or a smoker knows how disgusting the smell is, but how weird is it that it’s satisfying to smell a cigarette burning or any tobacco or weed in the air, at least it is for me. I haven’t coughed once feel great starting a new in my life. God bless everybody and their struggles, wishing everybody success with all their life choices.
@HydrantMaster1975 For me the smell of a cig today is totally nasty. But all things have their time and hopefully you will spend that money on a better habit. Gum are my smokes and it keeps getting more and more expensive..... best of success moving forward.
Don't waste your time... be happy if your car is there when you get back. One of the 'Great Bronx Neigborhoods in 1960! " it changed in the mid 1960's when the Italian residents bought homes and moved to new Rochelle and Yonkers, NY.
Arthur Avenue is not the real little Italy Mulberry Street is the real real little early from back in the day. That’s where all the Neapolitans settled when they came to this country maybe they settled in the Bronx too. I don’t know but I know one thing it’s Mulberry Street.
