can't explain how incredibly relaxing this series is... usually with content this long I tend to just have it on in the background but... being able to just sit down with these videos for an hour with a cup of coffee, a blanket, and just... not having to think about anything besides fictional traffic solutions, not actually doing anything but keeping my brain busy enough to not have to think " I should be being productive and doing something else right now" .. just incredibly nice.
bro fax
So accurate. Come home from work and turn my brain off with this!
Yeah, I nodded off a bit while lazing back. Good lazy afternoon videos..
Full fact
Yes, exactly the mode I'm in when watching
Don’t forget you’re using left side traffic,
so your roundabouts when you use the builder are right side.
Hey, you should download the pick it mode it is very useful and lets you easily select stuff like a road or building by just clicking on it. (works like the eyedropper tool in sims)
If you want trucks to use the main road instead of the little side streets you could always ban heavy traffic on the smaller roads I believe and can make the big main roads a priority road.
I wonder if there’s a way that you can eliminate the amount of railway crossings along the train route? It’s seems there’s a lot of crossings for a railway commuter line. But otherwise really enjoying the series!
Hey! I loved this episode! You had plans, the episode is longer, you downloaded assets, the episode came out shortly after the previous one but not too soon, not too late? Good work!
28 mins in - love the idea of a train line, my only gripe is, why cut through communities and roads when you can surpass them via elevated track. It would cause less disruption to existing dwellings and infrastructure, and allow for greater creative control. Plus from a community level a raised track would lessen traffic issues
The town is so small, elevated or tunnel track seems overkill imo
True, I'm just looking at it from a long term perspective. If there's going to be regular trains going from this community to a larger downtown one then that might warrant the need to elevate the track. Anyway, loving this series man
I am so invested in this city 😅 love it
Perfect video for a chill Friday at work :)
I find it interesting this is called 'Building a train line!' - 2o mins in and no signs beyond the placement of the train station. LOL!
Amusing none the less.
Oh am loving this series! But a thing that I miss from other series are the timelapses at the beginning of the episode. For example you doing the road line marking will probably look really good during a timelapse.
I live in a small town in the United States so these roads and traffic things make absolutely no sense to me, but I love watching your process on figuring it all out!
Watching the train go through was soooo satisfying lol, I need to play this game!
Thanks James! This is wholesome! I'm enjoying the long vids
On the little island, u should build a park where there are parkways and bike lanes over the water.
*destroys house* "YOU RE IN THE WAY OF PROGRESS"
Best game ever
I really enjoy how long the videos are, so don’t worry.
I thought Jazza was playing cities skylines for a sec, great vid :D
Yeeeessss🥳🥳🥳
It might have been better trams
Kinda got mad when you put train tracks in somones back yard
Flabaliki in Ep2: "I like how this nice little neighbourhood is coming along, nothing too much, just a cosy place to live."
Ep6: "Let's shove a railway straight down every single backyard in the entire city"
It's all in the name of progress
I live in a neighborhood like that. You barely notice the trains after a while.
@@timg555 are the trains that close like in the video? are there sound barriers?
@@sexyalien806 no barriers and yes they are pretty much that close. Plus it's cargo trains.
@@timg555thats cool! how loud are the trains on a scale from 1/10‽
*watching James get really into the road layouts and lane design*
“I like it, Picasso.”
James: "this city is too small for a metro"
also James: *proceeds to add FOUR train stations*
oh lord XD
You could do the area right at the end of the peninsula as an old town (next to the big castle), and then the newer more modern part of the city centre would be next to it!
I can really picture a big uni campus down in that section by all those offices and big train station, could look nice down by the water around there
Ahh, the train afterthought episode. Yes, thank you. Not many people deliver horror content outside of October. Hands over the eyes for most the episode. Quality.
Seeing the thumbnail, I’m already excited because you’re finally getting to start the train line you want to do! And let’s be honest, creating a public transit network that gets well used is one of the most satisfying things in this game.
A European district will be nice, in places where you feel like "I want this to be high density but not big skyscrapers" with a grid pattern. Would feel like the Barcelona blocks system which is amazing.
I wish there was medium density housing. Maybe townhouses or 3 story units
I am living for how frequently these videos are coming, I’m back on a skylines phase and giving sims a bit of a break. It’s funny how you live on the other side of the world (I’m in the uk) we are a similar age and play the same games 😂 I’m pretty sure if your a simulation gamer we all play the same games.
"I don't want peace. I want problems! Always!" - James, creating his own problems to solve later
I can’t stand skipping episodes in this because I don’t see the changes you made. It’s like going back to your home town after years to see your high school, only to see that they moved it over a few feet and put a train stain next to it.
The Joy of Painting Trains with Flabiliki
Can't wait to get home and fall asleep to your voice now (thats how relaxing these videos are you're not boring I swear)
This sounds oddly romantic
@@taliatalia4595 it kinda is, I suppose 🤣
Yea I do the same. But the next day I have to watch it again cuz I don't remember what happened 😅
I fell asleep to this today 🤣
This series has made me not only buy some of the new DLC, but also watch your old series. They’ve been super relaxing and a joy to watch, so thanks for that!
I feel like trees on either side of the train tracks would maybe look a bit nicer, and that way it buffers noise for the houses around. More green areas!
i agree, it would be super noisy (both irl and in-game) to have a train line without a natural noise buffer
I loved seeing the train working and all tucked in between the buildings and fences, makes it so much more realistic. Also we adore hour+ updates. So good!
This is the only stuff that gets me through the week 😂
It’s alright they still get a two wide house…. With trains 🚂 going through their back garden 🤣
Not gonna lie, I love the hour+ long videos. A guilty pleasure of mine is watching your content when tired because it's relaxing enough to fall asleep to, and the hour allows plenty of time to fall asleep without having to queue up another video. I do go back and rewatch it from where I remember seeing it, but yeah, helps with sleep.
...dude, why didn't you simply elevate the track in that long straight approach from the park to the high school and then keep it above ground all the way to the first station you placed in the new area? Could have saved yourself a LOT of level crossings and general faffing about
Cause that would look way too much for a small city
I don't understand why we're dipping the roads down and making all these intersections that will definitely cause problems, when we could just have the train tracks pass above.
It happens a lot in Australia. We dont like things obstructing the sky.
I definitely think that one road in the Hawthorne district should continue as a bridge onto that mini island and then across the water
I feel like you should do a second train line that goes to the industrial area for people in the "city" that work up there :)
Seriously loving having these videos back!
Awesome episode, really enjoyed this one. For the bus turnaround by the last station, it would probably work better if you reversed the one way part.
When you clean up the roads/fences that are adjacent to the train stations can you also refine some of the zoning? There are tons of 1x1 properties surrounding the new line and they're really bugging me haha
So happy City Skylines is back, makes the perfect background for when I’m working :]
Those two random gravel roads in the middle of the city have to go lmao
I want to see how long it takes for him to notice. I keep staring at them. We have to keep them. They are almost legendary at this point.
I like them, they are part of the history
Flabaliki: I'm zoning this area for residential
Also Flabaliki: I'm gonna put some high density commercial in here.
The lines look SO beautiful. It’s a little tough to watch but the results are satisfying, like a finely made model
Please do a little slip lane for the people turning left in the roundabout coming from the bridge. The turn right know seems unneccesarely sharp as they Don’t Even need to enter the roundabout to turn left
Agreed. Instead of a slip lane you could also just increase the corner radius with node controller.
I actually really like replacing stuff in my cities as well. Feels a bit like they're evolving and growing, almost a bit like they would in real life ... just much quicker
I love the parallel fence tool! Very satisfying
Excuse me, residents. Let me destroy your homes for my train project, which most certainly will piss off all of your neighbors who still have houses here.
I feel like 70km/h is too fast for a road with pedestrian-crossings. Most roads I know that are 70km/h don't have any crossings, it would be to dangerous (I'd say max 50). Maybe that's the reason why the cars and trucks were avoiding that route along the shore, because they could not really make 70 but had to slow down for pedestrians too often.
Yeah build residential right next to the train line... 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Builds my house in a nice quiet neighborhood near the school.
City builds a train line 3 feet from my back door 😥
I look forward to these videos so much... Sometimes i dont wanna finish the full video, just so i have some to watch everyday lol
I love the long content!! It shows that you're really into what you're doing, and having a good time with it :)
Can you please head back to prison architect Second Chances
I wonder if someone has already mentioned that the Network Multi Tool also has a function to make wonky roundabouts into perfect circles?
Part of me don’t think is healthy and safe to have a High School next to the train tracks, maybe add a fence or just live life on the edge lol
You made me want to play Simcity 4 again for some reason. Cities Skylines somehow got too difficult to run on my computer, even in vanilla. I'm quite happy that I managed to play a thousand hours of it before it became wrecked.
Just if you’re interested, the way cities skylines loads things is instead of loading assets when you use them, it loads them all at once. This becomes relatively intense on your RAM making the game run slower. Essentially, it’s just somewhat badly optimised game.
Cities skylines is the only reason I need 64GB of RAM. No other game comes close
in order to provide better transport for the residents of the town, james built a train line after evicting residents out of the town.
You inspired me to download this game at 3am and build many many terrible towns. I guess there's a steep learning curve and my constituents are paying the price! Living for these relaxing long episodes! Thanks James!❤❤❤❤❤
I love this series. It’s perfect, I would personally enjoy watching you stream when you play this game also! How do I not sound like a suck up fan but still say you are so funny and here for your content all day every day… 🙌🏻
Thank you for the Mod & Asset list
Those crowds at the bus stops 😂
James, I just love the way you play! You just play and build how you like, not how anyone tells you to! If you want to build 20 intersections right next to each other because you think it looks great, just do it, even if x comments say how pointless it is. Your way of playing is just inspiring for me! Keep it up!
I love the long episodes
get a mod for toddler schools and fix all the rode's up
Do a cable car over the river that has a stop on the bridge!
Honestly, i discovered this series very recently and I am absolutely loving it, its given me lots to think about including what I can do next
i was just watching your last ep! what a timing
Absolutely loving this series!! currently is iso with covid and its keeping me entertained, ive missed these style series so much!!
You were forcing "elevated" mode on an asset that most likely has "bridge" only and thats why it messed with the ground. You have 5 modes to choose from when placing roads/paths: vanilla, ground, elevated, bridge and tunnel. Edit: Bus routes fix automatically (if viable connection possible) when the bus reaches first disconneted stop... Pro tip: Lanes that make traffic cross the opposite direction should always be "turning only" lanes. At the end of your video you had perfect example why is that a must as 99% of the cars that were blocking your inner ("ahead and right") lane were going ahead and none of them used your middle "ahead only" lane... ;)
I don't know if it helps to hear it, but for me the longer the episode the better! I am living for this series right now, it's the perfect relaxation series and the long episodes soothe my binge-loving soul. I love this game but I don't understand how to play, so watching you do your thing is incredibly satisfying! Keep doing your thing, and as long as you're having fun, so are we
I'm not a train fanatic, but I loved this episode!! Love this city!
Oh no! you've gone with plopables. That is anathema in my book, it completely destroys the most basic, core premise of the game. When content creators start doing that, then I loose interest very quickly. I hope you wont be using them too much.
1:14:00 Isn't this cycling the wrong way? In a left-hand drive, it should be a clockwise turn, no?
Me an American when james is changing speed limit. "70 is very fast! Someone is going to crash!"
Then I remember he lives in Australia
That’s unique how a nice city can be spoiled with the railroad through lots of backyards and potential tons of traffic jams due to lots of rail crossings… that was nice series so far but it seems it’s time to leave.
James wondering why the episodes are always long while the entire comment section is gushing over how much they love them and appreciate him is so wholesome-funny to me.
Please keep these episodes longer if you can! This series is my bread and butter right now :U
u have a usa train but the buffers (the things that stop trains from going off the line at the end of the line) are from the uk (usa trains + uk buffers do NOT mix)
I love your episodes :) The length doesn't like me! I could watch these all day! Keep up the great content mate!
James, anyone ever tell you that you sorta look like Zach Cooper from Coheed and Cambria?
a lot of talk. low production
this was the most stressful episode 😅 watching you demolish all those houses and roads for the tracks lmao
The trains are awesome
you have no idea how much i love this series 😭💞
Watching you play this is teaching me how to use these mods. My mind is blown.
Can you build more cool buildings like a hypermarket or mall or public library?
Biffa will be disappointed because you made a wonky pedestrian bridge
The standard paths can be used by both bikes and pedestrians but the bike path can only be used by bikes
hey flabs, you should totally play democracy 4 and police simulator!
Looks great, can't wait for the next part 👍🏻 would love to see the city at night time 🌃
i love them long
